"Come Fly Away With Yelp" at the famed National WWII Museum's US Freedom Pavilion: The Boeing Center brought out the most sizzling sponsors and over 800 Yelpers dressed to the nines to pay homage to wartime glory and the 1940s this past Friday.
There were bites and sweets to satisfy any palate, and tasty, local libations from here to Thibodaux to wash it down! The New Movement MC’s kept things swinging by introducing our live entertainment including The Victory Belles, The Back Porch Stompers, Dance Quarter's performers, and The Doc Holliday Band as well as crowning our Best Dressed Guy and Gal of the night.
But the hopping good times didn’t stop there. Magnolia Makeup painted sparkly lips on our guests to get snapped in the Big Easy Photobooth while others opted for a poem from our Poet for Hire Shawna Marie Beasley. For the guests looking for an authentic WWII experience, there was the museum’s “Final Mission: The USS Tang Submarine Experience.” This interactive experience incorporated sound, motion and digital graphics that gave our guests a taste of the conditions and realities of submarine warfare.
Documenting the night was Liz Daino of Liz Daino Photography and Alex Harvie, who live painted the event and gave half the proceeds to Grow Dat Youth Farm, our non-profit of the night that received nearly $4,000 in donations to further their mission of cultivating young leaders through the meaningful work of growing food. Hooray for a great party with a purpose! Relive the glory through our highly decorated reviews or step back in time by checking out our fabulous photos.
