Throughout the month of August, 300+ Little Yelpers and their families got out their permission slips, fastened their seat belts and set out to explore Chicago's North Shore... one kid-friendly place at a time for free. During Yelp's first-ever Little Yelpers Club Field Trip, guests gathered at Heller Nature Center in Highland Park for a Lorax-themed kick-off movie event and grabbed their Yelp compasses on the way out to help navigate their next destination. First stops included storytelling and music at Growth Spurts in Wilmette, then sandcastle play and music-making at Glencoe Beach. Next up Noggin Builders in Northbrook was the perfect spot for goo making and not-so-serious science experiments, then over to Language Stars in Bannockburn for ice cream and fun language activities. After a day of exploration at Kohl Children's Museum in Glenview (shhh... including a sneak peak of the upcoming building blocks exhibit), prince and princesses headed over to The Performer's School in Highwood and got un-Frozen with "Let It Go" performances, and learned what it takes to become famous with behind-the-scenes tumbling, singing, and hands-on choreography. From Broadway star to rock star, the trip wouldn't be complete without a visit to The Rock House in Wilmette for an afternoon of family karaoke. Whew! Check out photos from the Field Trip right here and a fun Glenoce Beach movie here.

This past Saturday, the community came together to celebrate our most beloved food producers at The Lodge --- a gorgeous two-story restaurant and bar. Chef Todd Lesakowski and his staff used ingredients provided by T-Meadow, Plato Dale, Dan Tower and Native Offerings Farm along with oyster mushrooms from Boston Valley Gourmet to concoct creative tasting dishes for almost 300 guests. The Mountain Run joined us for a killer set of bluegrass (which included a bluegrass cover of Radiohead’s High and Dry) as guests enjoyed and sipped samples of Lockhouse Distillery Vodka and Brooklyn Brewery beer. Read all the reviews of the event here and see all the fabulous photos on the Flickr page.
