Yelp Vancouver celebrated our very first Yelp Drinks April 26-May 6 with delicious beverages and exciting events open to all Yelpers! We had eleven fabulous venues on board, all providing great drink specials throughout the day, and all donating to a great local non-profit, Aprons For Gloves! On top of all that excitement, Yelpers enjoyed several amazing events including an intense room escape, some fun and competitive board games, and some relaxed socialising over course of the ten day promotion. Check out the excellent reviews!
The spring installment of Yelp's Flight Club took place at Ninfa's Original on Navigation featuring Herradura Tequila! On November 23rd at Carter's Pet Depot II, Yelp Houston hosted its second Yappy Hour of the year, complete with holiday photos with Santa snapped by Lulu Lopez Photography, refreshing Ale Wagger Brown from Saint Arnold Brewing Company, a buffet of delicious donut holes and coffee from Shipley Do-Nuts Westheimer, free nail trims, pet adoptions, goodie bags, and monetary, blanket and toy donations benefiting The Glass Slipper! We had more than 90 pooches in attendance and raised almost $200. Miss the holiday bark party? Read the event reviews and check out the flickr party snapshots and photobooth pics.
On September 27, Yelp Houston hosted its first blood drive with The Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center, along with a Be The Match bone marrow registry drive. Throughout the month of August, 300+ Little Yelpers and their families got out their permission slips, fastened their seat belts and set out to explore Chicago's North Shore... one kid-friendly place at a time for free. During Yelp's first-ever Little Yelpers Club Field Trip, guests gathered at Heller Nature Center in Highland Park for a Lorax-themed kick-off movie event and grabbed their Yelp compasses on the way out to help navigate their next destination. First stops included storytelling and music at Growth Spurts in Wilmette, then sandcastle play and music-making at Glencoe Beach. Next up Noggin Builders in Northbrook was the perfect spot for goo making and not-so-serious science experiments, then over to Language Stars in Bannockburn for ice cream and fun language activities. After a day of exploration at Kohl Children's Museum in Glenview (shhh... including a sneak peak of the upcoming building blocks exhibit), prince and princesses headed over to The Performer's School in Highwood and got un-Frozen with "Let It Go" performances, and learned what it takes to become famous with behind-the-scenes tumbling, singing, and hands-on choreography. From Broadway star to rock star, the trip wouldn't be complete without a visit to The Rock House in Wilmette for an afternoon of family karaoke. Whew! Check out photos from the Field Trip right here and a fun Glenoce Beach movie here.
What time is it? It's paw thirty! On August 23rd, Kriser's hosted Houston Yelpers and their pooches to a Saturday morning for an in-store mixer – Yelp's Yappy Hour – providing free nail trims, Kriser's doggy treat bags, Yelp frisbees and Yelp bandanas. And the 'rents weren't left out. Dunkin' Donuts Houston cooled off the crowd with their famous Dunkin' iced coffee, iced teas and donuts. And for those without a furry friend to call their own, Pup Squad Animal Rescue was onsite hosting adoptions! Check out the event reviews and Yelp flickr photos.
This past Saturday, the community came together to celebrate our most beloved food producers at The Lodge --- a gorgeous two-story restaurant and bar. Chef Todd Lesakowski and his staff used ingredients provided by T-Meadow, Plato Dale, Dan Tower and Native Offerings Farm along with oyster mushrooms from Boston Valley Gourmet to concoct creative tasting dishes for almost 300 guests. The Mountain Run joined us for a killer set of bluegrass (which included a bluegrass cover of Radiohead’s High and Dry) as guests enjoyed and sipped samples of Lockhouse Distillery Vodka and Brooklyn Brewery beer. Blssed with perfect weather for our Road Trip weekend, Yelpers from both Seattle and Portland packed into Eques for an equally perfect brunch event. Before they could even get through the door, Elite members were offered a choice of Mimosa or champagne as they waited outside for the event to star. Once inside, the drinks still poured! Tacked onto the liquid list was an endless supply Bloody Mary's courtesy of the do-it-yourself garnish bar. Also set up were various buffet-style sampling stations featuring blurberry stuffed French toast, Eggs Benedict, and more. But don't let us spoil for you! Want to see how it all went down? Check out what the Elite Squad had to say in their reviews of the event here.
After a blustery Spring day in the Pacific Northwest, an exclusive event was held for 25 Eastside Elite Squad members at Kaisho in downtown Bellevue. Guests were treated to bite sized portions of the restaurant’s most popular menu items in addition to two signature cocktails thrown in for good measure. After a warm welcome and introduction by members of the Kaisho team, mini desserts were brought out to finish the night off in a truly memorable fashion.
