Coffee harmonization in São Paulo

Posted by Fernanda

Coffee is not just a drink. All of the aromas, the variety between acidity and bitterness allow you to have completely different experiences and flavors when trying different methods. Harmonization with specific foods also provides impressive results. Last night, Elite Yelpers of São Paulo had a complete introduction to coffee tasting with one of Nespresso's coffee experts, Claudia who conducted the meeting introducing three coffee blends that were intensified with Dona Cora treats — from savory muffins to Belgian chocolates truffles. I dare you to read the reviews or see the photos of last night's tasting and not wish to have a warm cup after.

Yelp KL Elite Event: Yelp Gets A Taste Of Izakaya With Tsubohachi

Posted by Alexander Leow

Untitled design

On the night of September 23, Yelp KL hosted its first Elite Event at Tsubohachi. Yelp Elites got the exclusive opportunity to experience not just some great Izakaya Japanese delicacies, but also the "Izakaya culture" - where Japanese working executives gather for drinks and food as a form of relaxation after a long day at work.

Because it's summer all year long in Malaysia, we started the night with Asahi Sub-Zero to open our palates and get ready for the night. Please note that this was also the first and still the only place in town that serves Asahi Sub-Zero, which literally means that we got to enjoy the taste of Asahi Super Dry in sub-zero temperatures (-2 to 0 °C).

Beer in hand, we cycled through a few different appetizers including some fresh and crispy Kawaebi KarrageOkonomi and more! These were helpful in making sure that the Ozeki that we indulged in after the appetizers didn't go straight to our head. Of course, for those who are more of a sours or Umeshu person, they also got to pick the drinks that they wanted to try as well.

And, no - we did not go home just yet - in fact we were just about to start. Then, we got to try some Wakatori Zangi and Kushimori, followed by a variety of Kamameshi - Japanese pot rice! For sure, we did not end the night without desserts - Matcha de roru, green tea crepe with rice cake and red beans rolled in it.

Drool over the photos of those Japanese delicacies here (courtesy of our photographers Cliff Ooi Photography and Jimmy See). Do check out the 5 star reviews that are rolling in, too!

Many thanks to Tommy Lee, Maverick Lee and the crew at Tsubohachi for making the first Yelp KL Elite Event so shiok!

Vancouver Relishes Life On Davie Street

Posted by Ayla Collins

On an uncharacteristically rainy evening in September, Yelp Elites congregated at reLiSH Gourmet Burgers on Davie street to share their zest for life and burgers. Musical chairs and trivia were played while Elites searched for one another in a scavenger hunt of icebreaking proportions. Bonds were forged over shared love of sliders and spirits, while Elites shared what makes them relish life. Co-owners Rivers Corbett and Chef Ray Henry shared their vision for reLiSH with the Elite Squad while the whole reLiSH crew ensured everybody left satisfied (and with excellent swag!). Elites hung their wishes for life and shared what they savour about it on our Relish Life tree and it was a night of gratitude and celebration. Check out the reviews, and photos by

Galata'nın büyüleyici tarihinden bir parça, işte karşınızda Nola!

Posted by Gakten

Nola'da levrek

On a regular Wednesday evening, we were invited to a newly opened gorgeous restaurant, Nola in Galata.  In 1300s Galata was a small town surrounded by brick walls and presently Nola is hosting a part of it. We were amazed by the ambiance as soon as we stepped in. You can even see the Galata tower as you enjoy your meal. Speaking of which, appetizers were breath taking, cheese plate was well garnished and had a lot of variety. Main dishes were perch and chicken. Our dish arrived as we got amazed by the presentation, then we took a bite of it and boom! It makes your feel pampered in every way. Deserts were very tasty as well: Tiramisu and ice cream filled profiterole.. It can’t get any better than that! We suggest you giving them a try, you won’t regret it. For more details of the event, make sure to check out the reviews and photos. Thank you Nola for this beautiful evening!

How small is Hong Kong? Yet meanwhile, how many secret spots have you been to that's never known to your friends? Last Monday, Elites in town went to the hidden upper floor of Sahara Mezz Bar in Soho. Without any prior details of this Elite Event, Elites were pleasantly surprised by Sahara's signature Middle Eastern cuisine, cocktails and shisha/hookah. Die Yelp Elite Backschule Düsseldorf

Posted by Timo Beck

On Wednesday, 08.26.2015 the Düsseldorf Yelp Elite could look behind the scenes of the only organic whole grains bakery, Hercules, in Düsseldorf. Owner Johannes explained to us in detail on raw materials, baking processes, the baking trade and the long working hours as a baker. The Yelpers could then manufacture delicious pastries themselves, as a kind of short-lived memory of this fantastic event. Thanks to Johannes and the Hercules team. Madison Meets For Mocktoberfest

Posted by Stacey Lansing

Tradition ran strong on Wednesday night as Madison Elites were treated to a night of south-central Wisconsin culture at OSS. Fifty of Madison's Elite Yelpers mingled and played board games on OSS's beautiful back patio and munched on cheese (including Limburger!), French fries, and deep-fried cheese curds. Co-managers Josh and Dustin talked about OSS's deep ties to the region and shared their passion for quality and creativity in their shop. To close out the night, attendees sampled three sausage and beer pairings - the Swiss, cabbage, and mustard-topped Glarner with Lust hefeweizen, the street-food-inspired Doner Kebab with High Life, and OSS's special Currywurst with the season's first tap of Staghorn Octoberfest. See what Elites thought of Mocktoberfest, and check out our Flickr page for a peek at the night!

Yelp's Summertime Teatime!

Posted by Tomas Rey

Commonwealth blog

It was a beautiful Saturday afternoon and we were treated to a private gathering amongst the grounds of CommonWealth Coffeehouse. Walking throughout the venue with our fresh pressed coffee, house infused teas, bellinis, and wine was a refreshing way to take in their organic garden with an eccentric Summer patio. CW Coffeehouse strives on using herbs, vegetables, and eggs from their garden on a daily basis.

Did we mention they have a chicken coop with live chickens?! That's right... they take pride making their own fertilizer and compost for their garden.

Yelpers had the chance to experience freshly baked goods from authentic French chefs including bites such as their iconic Terragon Chicken Sandwiches, sweet potato chips, almond croissants and oh so much more!

Capping off the night with an interactive session from the French pastry chefs on how to make a proper croissant. Everyone walked away with a smile on their face and a fresh breath of air and outtake on one of the newest and most unique coffeehouses in San Antonio, Texas.

Don't take our word for it though, check out the awesome 5-star reviews here and the amazing photos from Noah Acevedo & Steven Casanova here!

Jamjar Falafel

Last Wednesday, Elites broadened their culinary horizons at Jamjar on Commercial Drive; tucked into a cozy nook on Commercial Drive, Jamjar has an intimate, hip, and contemporary atmosphere. As Elites checked in, they received a jar of delicious spiced apricots and a reusable Yelp bag to keep it in. The enthusiastic and welcoming staff demonstrated how to make traditional Saj flatbreads, then Elites tried their hand at making their own, and pairing it with Jamjar’s amazing hummus. Chats were had over cocktails, tabouleh salad, and lamb sausages. The Hibiscus Bloom, a gorgeous pink cocktail served with refreshing cucumber slices, was an excellent treat to ward off the summer evening heat. Check out what the Elites thought of the fun, and see's photos here.

San Antonio Parties At The Sheraton Gunter Hotel!

Posted by Tomas Rey

Sheraton banner

Who doesn't like to party in a hotel? Better yet... partying in a hotel with a full course menu and endless amount of drinks?! That's exactly what the San Antonio Elite Squad got to experience at the Sheraton Gunter on June 23, 2015. With an exclusive tour throughout the hotel we were spoiled non-stop with the ultimate VIP treatment.

414 sheraton

The red carpet treatment began immediately upon arrival as guests were offered complimentary valet so they could promptly enter Bar 414 where all of the festivities began. Once we entered the jazz-inspired speakeasy bar, there were appetizers such as lobster siu mai and signature cocktails like the 414.

Dinner sheraton

After all of the appetizers and initial cocktails were offered and devoured, accompanied with live music it was time to head to our next stop. Once everyone was seated and offered a glass of wine it was time to enjoy our main entree inside the hotel's restaurant, Market on Houston. We were fortunate enough to receive a full description of our courses from Chef Rudy, executive head chef, who explained the exclusive sneak peak of their upcoming menu! Munching on delicacies like lamb belly and smoked dorset yukon au gratin potatoes was a great way to continue the event.

Dessert sheraton

But... that's not all folks!

We capped off the night inside the Sheraton Gunter's VIP Lounge with a dessert bar and an opportunity for some photos and free roam of all of the amenities within. It was unfortunate this event had to end; however, many yelpers were excited for a new staycation destination. Don't take our word for it though- check out the amazing 5 star reviews here and exceptional photos from Noah Acevedo here!

Yelp's Winter Brinner

Brisbane isn't known for dinners around the fireplace, but the current chilly evenings gave us the perfect excuse to stoke the fire and enjoy a brinner party at Scout. Owners, Candy & Suse took us on a journey through some of their most popular breakfast items, from the sweet almond & mandarin bread with marscapone (paired with an espresso martini featuring Scout's espresso blend with 666 Vodka) to the savoury breakfast salad with brussel sprouts. It's easy to see why this Petrie Terrace cafe often has lines snaking down the street each weekend. Check out the reviews and take a look at the photos

Elite Art Tasting At Bottle & Bottega

Bottle and Bottega Blog Post

It was an artful evening at Bottle & Bottega, and 50 Yelp Elites and their guests filled the entire studio and created arty masterpieces. Unlike most paint studios, the night was a special art tasting where each person got to select their project: A 10x10 canvas painting, a collage on canvas, or a painting on a wine or pint glass. Freshii provided a healthy spread of veggie pinwheels and hummus, followed by cinnamon and chocolate chipotle cookies from Sugar & Spice, and red velvet and strawberry swirl cake bites from Nothing Bundt Cakes. The event was a great success thanks to the talented group of art instructors, and everyone left with a special take home gift compliments of Bottle & Bottega. Please before reading this post, turn off your cell phone and grab your popcorn, because it's movie time! Oh yes! last thursday a lucky group of Santiago Elites got to go to the movies...what is so impressive about it? Well, it was a truly Elite experience.

They went to watch "Insurgent" the second part of the Divergent Saga in the premium accomodations of Cineplanet Costanera, with very comfortables sofas (yes, no seats...sofas) an a la carte menu and waiters ready to make your life a happier one.

What is the bad part? Well, most of the Elites that went to this movie evening swear that they could get use to this movie star treatment...for life.

Make Your Crystal Balls, and Make Your Own Party

Our Elite Squad spent an unusual Friday night at Make Your Choicesss, crafting their own crystal balls (with Yelp road signs as custom-made prop just for the event!), and at Playful Factory, enjoying their very own party there with musical instruments, game consoles, an open kitchen for making cocktails and more. Letting our Elites having an unique experience here in these two venues is certainly one of the walking examples how Yelp can help connecting people with great local businesses.

Don't forget to check out the reviews of the event here and see all the amazing photos on the Flickr page.

Joie De Vivre in Vancouver

Posted by Ayla Collins

This was truly a feast for the senses! In collaboration with Ballet BC Up and Bau-xi Gallery we threw a huge 60's themed birthday party for the gallery, which turned 50 this year! We hosted over 100 Elites, their plus ones, and Ballet BC Up members, spoiling them with a multitude of amazing local vendors from food trucks to sweet treats! There was wine, beer, and kombucha to sip on as they admired the art of Joshua Jensen Nagles, and even a fantastic improvised dance performance by some of the Ballet BC dancers! We got our groove on to far out 60's tunes provided by DJ Pri, before throwing on a fake moustache and a flower garland in the selfie booth! Check out the awesome reviews, and fab photos by!

Orlando Elites get Friendly at LongHorn Steakhouse

Posted by Andi

LongHorn Steakhouse Yelp Orlando

Orlando's Elite Yelpers were treated to an outstanding, intimate four-course steak dinner on Monday while also participating in some 'speed friending' at LongHorn Steakhouse in Altamonte Springs. The concept was simple- put our seasoned Elites on one side of the table and new Elites on the other. Throw in some fun conversation starters and a few drinks and we had ourselves the friendliest event in town! Our newer Elites switched seats every course and ended up with a ton of new Yelp buddies, a full stomach, and some good feels! And one lucky Elite Yelper walked away with a basket of LongHorn goodies including a grilling set, and their signature sauces. But this event was also about the kindness and LongHorn made sue every Elite Yelper went home with a special gift and tons of leftovers. Dang, it's neat to be Elite! But don't take it from me- Check out photos of the event here and reviews here.

Bilibala: Yakitori, Live Music and More

Posted by Kevin L

To celebrate the New Year of Goat, our Elite Squad enjoyed a relaxing Sunday at Bilibala Yakitori Bar. Paired with Asahi beers and Somersby Ciders, the yakitori came to absolute perfection: grilled ox tongues, grilled octopus, grilled scallops, maitake mushrooms, and the amazing bacon wrapped lychee, to name just a few. And the live music performance by Unknown and Tabi Ng made the afternoon even more memorable. Read all the reviews of the event here and see all the fabulous photos on the Flickr page.

Un après-ski en Madrid

Posted by Lolo R.

Vancouver's Jammin' To The Caribbean

Posted by Ayla Collins

The Reef

After an unseasonably warm Monday, a cheerful group of Elites and their plus ones attended our Caribbean themed event at The Reef on Main Street. As each attendee signed in the super helpful staff offered them a drink - a choice of a dark 'n stormy with homemade ginger beer, a Red Stripe, or Gypsy Tears provided by Parallel 49. Shortly after folks started arriving a plethora of food flowed from the kitchen - everything from jerk chicken skewers, to coconut prawns, to Jamaican patties. DJ Sue Commandante was spinning some Island-style tunes, and we even had a limbo competition! We ended the night with prizes for best photo uploaded on social media, and the person who guessed closest on the number of buttons in the jar! For more fun check out the reviews and photos!

Beer, chocolate and Elites? 2015 it's great in Santiago!

Posted by Sofia Varas

Cata beervana

Ok, Beer and Chocolate. Do we need to say more?

Ok, we will say a bit more. We had a challenge. How to put together a great kickoff for the 2015 Elite Events season? Well, we came up with a recipe. First, you mix an awesome group of Elites, then you add an amazing place that is not yet open, like El Camino bbq in the trendy Barrio Italia neigborhood, and then, you throw in some secret ingredients, something like, I don't and chocolate.

Oh yes.

Wednesday night was a definitely unforgettable. A group of Santiago Elites got together on their first Beer and Chocolate tasting, guided by the experts of the liquid gold, Beervana and the belgian chocolate geniuses Nicole&Cédric. Add to that a great summer evening, a super nice patio with romantic lightning and Boom! Welcome Elite Class of 2015!

Jolly January In Vancouver

We kicked off the new year with an intimate party at Danica's Cafe - a family owned space complete with photos of their Grandma's farm, one of the first organic farms in Alberta. And yes, Grandma's name is Danica! These generous folks provided tons of delicious food including mini shepherd's pies, and gluten free goodies, and even raffled off a whole chocolate pecan pie! Wine was flowing freely, along with delicious Gypsy Tears Ale provided by Parallel 49 Brewing! Danica's staff whipped up some delicious teas and coffees as Elites enjoyed awesome music provided by DJ Leanne of GirlOnWax. Thanks to Linday of Lindsaysdiet for her incredible photos, and thanks to Danica's for spoiling us all so thoroughly! Check out the photos and reviews of this great event!

KC's First Look For Foodies 2015

Posted by Adam Schaumburg

What a way to kick off a new year of being Elite! Yelpers were able to experience a swanky sneak-peek to kick off KC Restaurant Week, and 10 Kansas City restaurants were on hand with tons of tastings. The wine was flowing and people were mingling from booth to booth to see what unique menu items were available. The only challenging part of the evening was saving room to try each spot. Check out the all the reviews here and some awesome event pictures here.

Quack! E' uno Yelp Natale a Milano!

Posted by Claudia R

O (3)

This year, Santa decided to change a bit and came to Milan with a sledge, Rudolph the Deer and... ducks! Yes, ducks: that's why we enjoyed our Xmas party at Quack, a cozy shop and restaurant in the city center, where everything you can eat is about ducks, from appetizers to main dishes, even aperitivos! We had dinner, chatted, exchanged Christmas wishes and had the chance of learning everything about ducks and duck products from Greta, owner of the place. We also collected presents under the Yelpy Xmas Tree and gifted them all to Fondazione De Marchi, which takes care of hospitalized kids. Cherry on the cake: the Yelpy Xmas Gift, to every good Yelp dude and dudette! Want to know more? Read the reviews and enjoy our wonderful pics!

Last Minute Shopping in Vancouver!

Posted by Ayla Collins

Blog Cover

The new permanent location for Luke's General Store is a two level, super cool space with amazing art, clothes, food, soaps, and vinyl - there's something for everyone in this eclectic, fun store! On a not-so-cold December night over 60 Yelpers gathered to do some last minute shopping, fueled by a great spread of local cheese, bread, olive oil, meats, doughnuts, and pickles. To quench their thirst we had spiked mulled cider, local beer, and coffee! The guys from Beast and Brine were on hand to explain their incredible spread, and the Club Mate reps in Vancouver made sure everyone got to sample their delicious energy drink. Elites and their plus ones had a blast, and the atmosphere was humming! Check out the photos by and the awesome reviews!
