This was truly a feast for the senses! In collaboration with Ballet BC Up and Bau-xi Gallery we threw a huge 60's themed birthday party for the gallery, which turned 50 this year! We hosted over 100 Elites, their plus ones, and Ballet BC Up members, spoiling them with a multitude of amazing local vendors from food trucks to sweet treats! There was wine, beer, and kombucha to sip on as they admired the art of Joshua Jensen Nagles, and even a fantastic improvised dance performance by some of the Ballet BC dancers! We got our groove on to far out 60's tunes provided by DJ Pri, before throwing on a fake moustache and a flower garland in the selfie booth! Edmonton Elites experienced a true adventure at an Indiana Jones themed event at Telus World of Science. Chef David Omar from Zinc Restaurant created seven gourmet meatballs from a bison meatball with gorgonzola cream to a chickpea meatball with coconut curry. Yelpers also enjoyed sweet treats from the Italian Centre Shop and samples of exotic spices from The Silk Road Spice Merchant. Cha Island had 3 refreshing loose leaf ice teas on hand, and there was an exciting selection of drinks from Whitehorse-based brewers Yukon Brewing Company with beer, whisky and liquor. Charles Smith Wines was on hand, as was the phenomenal Absolut Elyx vodka; manually distilled in a 1921 copper rectification still known as Column 51, and made entirely of copper! Following all of this, Yelpers visited the Telus World of Science's current feature exhibit: Indiana Jones and the Adventure of Archeology Exhibit. It combines stories from the Indiana Jones movies, and real archeology artifacts from National Geographic in a fun, interactive and informative exhibit. Be sure to read reviews of the event HERE and check out pix from photographer Sam Brooks HERE.

After an unseasonably warm Monday, a cheerful group of Elites and their plus ones attended our Caribbean themed event at The Reef on Main Street. As each attendee signed in the super helpful staff offered them a drink - a choice of a dark 'n stormy with homemade ginger beer, a Red Stripe, or Gypsy Tears provided by Parallel 49. Shortly after folks started arriving a plethora of food flowed from the kitchen - everything from jerk chicken skewers, to coconut prawns, to Jamaican patties. DJ Sue Commandante was spinning some Island-style tunes, and we even had a limbo competition! We ended the night with prizes for best photo uploaded on social media, and the person who guessed closest on the number of buttons in the jar! For more fun check out the reviews and photos!

We kicked off the new year with an intimate party at Danica's Cafe - a family owned space complete with photos of their Grandma's farm, one of the first organic farms in Alberta. And yes, Grandma's name is Danica! These generous folks provided tons of delicious food including mini shepherd's pies, and gluten free goodies, and even raffled off a whole chocolate pecan pie! Wine was flowing freely, along with delicious Gypsy Tears Ale provided by Parallel 49 Brewing! Danica's staff whipped up some delicious teas and coffees as Elites enjoyed awesome music provided by DJ Leanne of GirlOnWax. Thanks to Linday of Lindsaysdiet for her incredible photos, and thanks to Danica's for spoiling us all so thoroughly! Check out the photos and reviews of this great event!
Calgary Yelp Elites took over Billingsgate MKT for a party so fresh you could eat it raw. "Homestyle" reached new levels as Elites feasted on Great Grandad's fish 'n' chips and Great Grandma's clam chowder, courtesty of this family owned and operated (since 1907) fish market. Jameson Irish Whiskey, Village Brewery beer and loud, live music turned this fishy feast into full-on maritime madness. If a party could drunkenly hug you, this one would. The new permanent location for Luke's General Store is a two level, super cool space with amazing art, clothes, food, soaps, and vinyl - there's something for everyone in this eclectic, fun store! On a not-so-cold December night over 60 Yelpers gathered to do some last minute shopping, fueled by a great spread of local cheese, bread, olive oil, meats, doughnuts, and pickles. To quench their thirst we had spiked mulled cider, local beer, and coffee! The guys from Beast and Brine were on hand to explain their incredible spread, and the Club Mate reps in Vancouver made sure everyone got to sample their delicious energy drink. Elites and their plus ones had a blast, and the atmosphere was humming! Check out the photos by Lindsaysdiet.com and the awesome reviews!

The Louisville Elite men got prettier as the night went on — and not just because Old Forester bourbon was on hand to sample. The men (and a few ladies) gathered last week as part of Yelp Elites Get Buzzed, which was held at Derby City Chop Shop, a barber shop that embraces a rock and roll aesthetic in the Highlands neighborhood of Louisville. The men got to pick between a free cut or shave, and when they weren't under the straight razor or scissors, they were able to drink bourbon, gab with the mustachioed and bearded gents of the Derby City Whisker Club and chow down on lobster rolls, bisque, and cheddar bay biscuits from the Longshot Lobsta food truck. Check out the rad photos and video and read the reviews.
