Yelp's Winter Warmer @ Red Cacao

Posted by Chloe

Red Cacao

Yelp Elite, Bridie W, took the words out of my mouth so I'll let her tell you what went down one cool winter's eve as we learnt the art of chocolate and ceramics in Stirling at Red Cacao cafe...

All the key chocolate components were laid out for people to experience the tactile pleasures of chocolate in its raw form. Marcus gave an introduction and showed us a brief video of how chocolate is made, from bean to bar.  His passion for chocolate is obvious and it really shines through in his products. We immediately were given a series of different single origin chocolates.  I love dark chocolate, so was impressed with the sweet creaminess that came through even in relatively dark samples. The tasting plates that were put on our table were stunning.  Colourful macarons, chunks of chocolate, praline, choc coated almonds, salted caramel tarts, lemon meringue pie and shards of chocolate adorned the platters

Pair this with sharpies and an intense coffee mug decorating session led by the talented Tracy Chaplin from Gretel Girl and you have a glowingly hot Yelp Elite Event!

Read the reviews and check out the photos from the event here.

Big thanks to our sponsors for taking the time to share their talents:

Margaritas, Fish Tacos And DJ Milk On Rooftop Patio

Posted by Alex L

Templeton Landing in Buffalo has one of the most breathtaking views of the waterfront. Yesterday, a group of lucky Yelp Elite's got to experience an interactive event and learn from the GM and staff just how much they love what they do. As you walked in, you were greeted by a "make-your-own-margarita" station, followed by a nacho station and a made-to-order fish taco grill bar. With Great Lakes Brewing also serving delicious tasty beer and DJ Milk spinning fun beats, yelpers walked away awed, full, happy and ready to come back for more. We also had an impromptu #IceBucketChallenge and raised over $120 for ALS at the event. Don't believe us? Check out the photos and glowing reviews here.

Goodbye summer, hello fall! Yelp and The Gryphon invited Yelp Elites to start off the semester on a good note with an exclusive social. Libations flowed and there were nibbles a plenty. It was the perfect  chance to catch up and meet with new and old Yelp friends.

The Gryphon is a new Meat & Raw Bar Social House brought to you by the owners of Lost Society. Yelpers enjoyed a sampling of menu favorites including goat cheese and tomato bruschetta, parmesan fried brussel sprouts, chicken and waffles, buttermilk fried pickles, tuna tartare with pickled watermelon rinds, oysters with cucumber mignonette, striped bass ceviche, lemon zest shrimp cocktail, Surryano  ham with charred scallion, and a chef's selection of assorted beef skewers.

YelpJax Gets Toasted at Brew

Posted by Allie

Brew is the new, super cool coffee, beer, toast, and soda joint, right here in the heart of Five Points. Lucky elites got to sample the highly talked about artisan toast, (can you say rosemary garlic sourdough, kimchi jam, goat cheese and arugula?)  We raised our glasses to the amazing specialty beer cocktails, like the brewmosa (beer and OJ) and the very summer Shandy (beer, lemonade and simple syrup.) Add some mixing and mingling with the light bites, and Yelp Elites found a new appreciation for being on the front edge of the city’s culinary trends. Check out the super cool snaps, and reviews here!

Elite Event: 'Intermission' Private Screening

Posted by Emily C

L (56)

"The only thing that would have made the evening better was if we could take some of the Brooks staff home to continue feeding us in the manner we had just become accustomed to..."

Yeah we all had that feeling Quentin alright! Whiskey sours, ridiculous amounts of canapes, homemade whiskey truffles, as well as popcorn and jellies for movie watching, sure who wouldn't wanna take them home!

Then there was the viewing of Intermission from the downright luxury of our very own private screen; leaather seats, individual tables, said refreshments, and more leg room than Shaquille O'Neill's basketball shorts.

Yelp's 10-year Anniversary Party in Copenhagen

Thursday August 21 Yelp Copenhagen was celebrating Yelp´s 10-year anniversary in red and gold at Café Klimt. Elites, Yelpers and Newbies were all in the mood for a great party with golden drinks inspired by the painter Klimt, birthday tapas, DJ Steven and a huge birthday cake sponsored by Bodenhoff Bageri and nicely decorated with the Yelp logo, stars and pictures of some of the Elites and their reviews.

10 was the magic number this night, and Community Manager Camilla S therefore encourage everybody to find 10 new friends on Yelp during the event. She also divided the guests into teams for a quiz challenge; 10 questions about Yelp, that should be answered as quickly as possible with a high five. The winning team: ”The Crowns” all got a hawaii wreath in gold as a reward. Afterwards the new Elites in Copenhagen were celebrated with gold crowns, and a ”Klimt´s painting competition” was launched. The yelpers should namely paint a birthday present for Yelp and make a #yelpfie of themselves with their painting and upload the photo on Yelp. Christina A won the competition for her cool map of Denmark, and got a brunch for two at Café Klimt in return.

Read the reviews and check out the photos from this colourful party on Yelp, Flickr and Facebook. There were so many great moments, and Yelp was definitely celebrated with great style in the heart of Copenhagen.
