Hot summer sun and cold drinks... they go hand-in-hand, right? So why not load a green bus named Mabel with some amazing people and celebrate the great city of Portland on a Magic Brew Bus Tour? That's how the Elites of Maine kicked-off the first official weekend of summer in absolutely beautiful weather! Zach and Don (entertaining and highly informative about beer and the history of our city) of The Maine Brew Bus "drove us to drink locally" for the afternoon; from a seriously hoppy I.P.L. and cornhole at Bunker Brewing, a Spiced Mead (which tastes like the holidays all bottled up!) at Maine Mead Works, drinking carrot vodka while toasting a photo of Neil Dow - former mayor of Portland and the Father of Prohibition - at Maine Craft Distilling, to some very refreshing brews next door at Rising Tide... there was a little something for everyone (including spinach-artichoke-goat cheese hand pies from Maine Pie Line, and Hangover Kits filled with snacks, Emergen-C, and superhero band-aids)! Read the reviews of the event here, and be sure to check out the fabulous photos on the Flickr page, too.

Schroeder's San Francisco Stammtisch

Posted by Abby Schwarz

Schroeder's resized

Stammtisch = "An informal group meeting held on a regular basis, and also the usually large table around which the group meets. A stammtisch is not a structured meeting, but rather a friendly get-together." Schroeder's Restaurant invited the San Francisco Elite Squad for a new twist on an age-old German tradition. Close to 40 San Francisco Elites were treated to a four-course family style dinner, completed by a live polka performance. Read the 5-star reviews and see how much we enjoyed the experience!

Originally founded in 1893, Schroeder's longstanding history, friendly atmosphere and convenient downtown location has made the Bavarian inspired beer hall a favorite of San Francisco residents and business professionals for the past 120 years. Breathing new life into the historic restaurant, new owners Andrew Chun and Jan Wiginton have revitalized and remodeled the space to include a new facade, interior detailing and communal seating, and have introduced a modern, German menu under Chef Manfred Wrembel.

Danke schön, Schroeder's!

On dirait le Sud @ Meatballs

Posted by Lucie

June is the ideal month to celebrate the Summer season, and the Meatballs was just the perfect place. This new restaurant with this unique concept in Lille invited more than 70 Yelpers to discover these original meatballs.

Laureen, the manager of the restaurant and her team welcomed every Yelper warmly, so and it made the succes of this event: three bars with fresh and delicious cocktails, meatballs tasting : falafel, beef, shrimps, Thai … And even cream puffs for the dessert. Everything here is fresh and home-made. A very beautiful restaurant which risks to be a HQ of Yelpers this summer. The terrace itself has to be known.

Marie P, the wonderful assistant Community Manager for Yelp Lille made a DIY workshop where each Yelper could make his own cocktail decoration !

Find out more about this event by clicking here, and the photo album there.

Pragues Elites on June's Thai Extravaganza

Finally, new thai restaurant in Prague opened their door for us. 40 Yelp elites gathered in Zebra Express to taste thai cuisine authentic like from a thai kitchen. Manager Jana and thai chef Keng   were great hosts with a lot to say about each dish. What is a better way to introduce us to Tom Sam salad, than by a cooking show? Keang Keaw Wan kai slightly won over other fantastic dishes we had a chance to try. Read all the reviews of the event and see all the yummy photos on our Flickr page.

Konečne, nová thaiská reštaurácia v Prahe nám otvorila dvere. 40 Yelp elít sa stretlo v Zebra Express aby ochutnali autentickú Thajskú kuchyňu. Manažerka Jana a šéfkuchárka Keng boli fantastické hostiteľky a veru mali čo povedať ku každému chodu.

Spring was winding down, but Yelp San Diego and a boat full of amazing local vendors and national brands were in full swing and bracing for summer last week! The crowd toasted to the weather getting warm and celebrated by getting together on the Hornblower Inspiration for Yelp Rocks The Boat - a hump day evening of food, drinks, community and non-profit love! A two hour cruise around San Diego Bay served as the perfect backdrop for an offshore selfie while three levels of live music set the soundtrack for a night to remember. Over 120 reviews have already been added to the event page read here, almost 700 uploaded photos found here and an additional 425 snapshots from our ace photography squad are located on the Yelp San Diego Flickr page. Cheers, kudos, props and an enormous thank you to all of those who participated in Yelp Rocks The Boat linked here!

Indy's Yelp Is As Yelp Does Elite Party

Posted by Brittany

From the mystery truffle table by Best Chocolate in Town to the Dr.Pepper cocktails by Wilks & Wilson Syrups, Yelp elites were partying it up Gump-style for June's elite party at Caplinger's Fresh Catch. The six-month-old seafood market was rolling out all the stops with made-to-order fish sandwiches, shrimp dishes and all the fixin's. Elites were tipping back Bier Brewery beer between batting it out for the best Forrest and Jenny costumes.

Momma always said "Thank You!"....

Yelp Albuquerque Gets Roman-tic

Posted by Howie

On Saturday night, Yelp Elites of Albuquerque devoured the science, smarts and seduction of cocoa bliss at Joliesse Chocolates. This Elite Only event featured Mediterranean bites, decadent wines and a Roman theme (toga!) that indoctrined our community to the delicacies of the world's most beloved bliss. Beginning with a tasting of white, milk and dark chocolate blends, attendees dove hands-on into the fold, blending their own concoctions (ginger, chile, wasabi, pumpkin, etc.) to create truffles of their own device to bring home. A delicious spread of finger foods was delivered from Pars, and an exceptional Romanesque décor draped the scene, thanks to Shannon from Embur Interiors. Thank you Winstonfoto and Adam Durant for capturing the dripping, sticky fun. What a deliriously gorgeous night! Check out the rave reviews for details.

Hartford's Got Heart! Yelp Helps Gala For Good

Posted by Emily

Yelp Helps collage

On a lovely, warm Wednesday evening, the Hartford community gathered at the gorgeous Society Room of Hartford to celebrate and support 25 local nonprofits at the Yelp Helps Gala For Good. While generously raising $1,600 in door donations for Billings Forge Community Works, yelpers learned about volunteer opportunities from dozens of inspiring organizations and enjoyed samples from fantastic area restaurants, breweries and distilleries. Beyond the bites, sips, and nonprofit mingling, guests were entertained by live music, a DJ, marching band, and Nightfall's giant bird puppet throughout the evening. Want to know more? SummerFunTime in Astoria: Burgers, Ice Cream, and Beer!

Thursday night was no ordinary night in Queens: sticky weather and an Elite only event at Burger Bistro in it's first loction in Astoria. Elites sans companions got some serious slider action, everything from beef to lamb to veggie friendly combinations. Adding to the fun was plenty of complimentary Queens Lager, courtesy of the amazing people from Queens Brewery. The ice cold beer was a relief from the humid weather and to top things off for the evening? Ice cream sandwiches.

Drugi Elitarny Event @ konfederacka 4

Posted by Katarzyna Wabik

Last Wednesday Cracow's Elite Squad visited konfederacka 4. The place used to be a bakery, that's why you can find a tiled stove inside.

The kitchen is not hidden so we could see cooking process. After a delicious meal and wine testing we spent some time outside the building, surrounded by a greenery. It was great!

Check out pictures and reviews!

Asha's Vegetarian Cooking Class At Iunu.

Posted by Verena

Asha the charming Lady of the cooking studio Iunu has invited the Munich elite team to a vegetarian cooking class. The menu was very experimentary - Vietnamese Spring Rolls with Hoisin Satay, vegetarian Spaghetti Bolognese and an amazing Tarte tatin. Another highlight was the guitar & vocal duo with Carina Hager and Raphaela and a spontanous standing ovation from Asha on her Hang. A Hang? Yes, this is a kind of huge Swiss singing bowl. I barrel together. Phenomenal sound, phenomenal food, phenomenal atmosphere, read the reviews of the elites. My special thanks goes to Asha and the wonderful Naim, who sweetened the evening not only with delicious food, but also with a warm soul. Thanks to Bionade who cared for some yummie refreshments and Sabine K. , who spontaneously became the photographer of the event - check this out

LA West Elite Event at The Wallace

Yelp Elites spent their morning brunching at The Wallace in Culver City. There were a variety of morning cocktails to choose from including bottomless mimosas in 3 different flavors (original, strawberry, and pomegranate hibiscus), bloody mary, teepee (campari, cava, chamomile, and lemon), and morning sex (bourbon, passionfruit, chai-fennel syrup, and peychaud's). The food that followed was just as unique and special. Some of our favorite plates included the warm Sticky Bun, the Benedict Tartine, the Farro salad, and the Salmon Gravlax.  To see all the reviews from this event click here and for the Flickr gallery click here.

LA West Elite Event At Chi’s Chinese Cuisine

Elite Yelpers came out to Chi's Chinese Cuisine in the Valley for a delicious dinner.  Chi herself was at the event to greet guests to her family owned restaurant. All of the staff were very helpful and made the dining experience even more enjoyable. Favorites from dinner included: Chi's spicy pizza, shanghai dumplings, the walnut shrimp, the hot and sour soup, and the garlic fried rice.  We all left the event stuffed and satisfied. Yelp Orlando Goes Orange: A One-of-a-Kind Hard Hat Tour!

Posted by Andi

Hard Hat

Thirty of Orlando's Elite Yelpers signed their lives away and embarked on a super VIP hard hat tour of the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts, being built in the heart of Downtown Orlando! They got to check out the models of what the center will look like upon completion and then stand on the stage of the Walt Disney Theater which will be hosting top Broadway shows by Fall 2014. Climbing through the active construction site, Elites felt like urban adventurers (though they replaced Indiana Jones' hat and whip with hard hats and safety googles which were decidedly less hip). Nevertheless much gloating and tweeting was heard through the evening as the Elites imagined casually bragging to their future kids years from now: "Oh that? I was there before the seats were even in the theater, darling!"

But don't take my word for the insanely cool trek the Elites took through the site, check out their reviews and amazing images of the tour here.

Big up to our sponsors
