The Yelp Rochester Elite squad cheered on the Rochester Americans with a killer view as they went up against the Milwaukee Admirals. In between conversations and watching the game, the guests nibbled on an array of homemade, savory bites provided by Blue Cross Arena including, “The Zamboni” meatball stromboli, mac and cheese, tortilla chips with salsa and queso. It goes without saying that we had a suite view from the box seats — not something we get to experience every day! A Spanish Twist On Southwestern Fare Intrigues Tucson Yelpers

Posted by Bella

Gringo Grill and Cantina (formerly Miguel's at La Posada) opened its doors and patio to Tucson yelpers for an exquisite experience. We enjoyed cocktail hour with a classic Arizona sunset in the company of the general management, who graciously mixed and mingled with guests and made everyone feel at home. Yelpers sipped on local wine (Arizona Stronghold), brews (Four Peaks), margaritas and savored an array of hors d'oeuvres, from Sonoran burger sliders to ceviche shots and bacon wrapped dates. After sunset we made our way into the dining room where giant molcajetes of guacamole and salsa served as delicious center pieces at each table. Guests were treated to an indulgent taste of their menu with a choice of an entree and sides ranging from Soooweee rubbed pork tenderloin to Grilled Salmon with a meyer lemon salsa, enchiladas and decadent sides like mac n cheese, Sonoran fries, white bean cassoulet and more! It only made sense to cap off this savory night on a super sweet note. Dessert included a duo of bread pudding with a cream cheese gelato and house made tres leches cake. As a special parting gift, all guests received a complimentary house-made rub, courtesy of Chef Scott and a coupon for a future visit! A free one night stay with dinner for two and a gift certificate for dinner were also awarded to our lucky prize winners. Thank you to the entire team at Gringo for a stellar night!

Argentina By Way Of Pinecrest

Posted by Johnny Todd

This event was one for the record books. On a festive February evening, an exclusive group of Elites made their way to Del Sur for Yelp’s Seven Wonders. Not only was the event a showcase of seven classic (and updated classic) Argentine dishes but also each dish was prepared in its own unique way. You read that correctly: seven dishes/courses and seven different types of preparation. But that’s not the groundbreaking part. This event was the southern-most Elite event in North America. Yep. And there’s tango, pictures, wine, silent film, music, captivating dishes, and reviews to prove it. Boom.

After starting the evening with De Bortoli La Boheme Rosé wine tastings and summer sangria, Yelp Elite were put to work kneeding, rolling and cutting Donny's recipe for wholesome hot cross buns.

Yelper Louise R described the rest of the night perfectly – "soon we were mixing together flour, fragrant spices, secret yeast and water blend, loads of fruit and even big chunks of chocolate in a huge wooden trough. And of course real butter! Rolled out and crossed the old fashioned way, the buns then had a date with the oven."Top the night off with a lesson about what really goes into that deli pie and how to make the quickest, scrummiest dessert in town, and you've got some Yelp Elite bouncing for joy!

Meet The Winner Of Yelp's Munch Madness - Otto Cedeno

L (1)

The mission of Yelp's Munch Madness - to find the single tastiest food item anywhere in Manhattan. The result? From a field of 16 different delicious foodstuffs - both famous and up and coming - Otto's Tacos pulled off quite the upset. Heavy hitters like the combo plate at The Halal Guys and the tres leches donut from Doughnut Plant were no match for Otto's delectable carnitas taco... so I caught up with Otto Cedeno to get his thoughts on the big win:

Ruggy:  What did you do celebrate the Yelp's Munch Madness win? Russian/Turkish baths? Disney World?

Otto: Russian Disney Land obviously. No, truth be told, we actually won on my birthday so we celebrated (both) the only way we know how to in the East Village: Mezcal drinks over at Duck's Eatery.

R: What was the inspiration for bringing LA style Mexican street tacos to NYC?

O: It was really a perfect storm of many things. But I love NYC and I love the Mexican food I grew up with in Orange County. Just thought they should be friends really.

Manchester Yelpers Enjoy 'Magical Mystery Tour' Of Food And Drink

Posted by Jonny Quirk

Wine and cheese .jpg

Our March Elite event was all about setting the bar even higher in terms of an amazing event experience as we invited 25 lucky Yelpers on a 4 venue,  secret 'Magical Mystery Tour' of complimentary food and drinks!

It was a great evening which involved welcome mojitos, an interactive cocktail school, artisan pizzas, pie and ale tastings and finished with cheese, freshly baked bread and a fantastic wine jukebox! That's right, an interactive jukebox which each Yelper was able to use themselves to try 16 different vinos from around the world. I think there's going to be a lot of DIY from a lot of people going on this weekend to try and build one themselves!

Such a good night was had by all and although awesome is a word that's overused, we have to say that this event was beyond awesome. I don't think there'll be a Yelper in attendance that would describe it anything less based on the reviews here. You can also see the fantastic photos of the night on our Flickr page too!

Manhattan Yelpers Thai One On at Ngam

Ngam collage.jpgLate night Thai food - it's as much a part of New York City life as the Yankees. But consuming delicious Asian cuisine as today becomes tomorrow is made all the better when you dial up Ngam. While most eateries of this nature procure cheap factory farmed meats and veggies, Ngam ups the ante by sourcing all of their produce from local farms when possible and pays respect to the seasonality of ingredients. In fact, they only serve hormone-free beef, chicken and pork as well as use organic and cage free eggs and dairy products in our dishes. They also strongly believe in responsible sourcing and only use seafood not on the endangered seafood list. How many Thai food places can you name that adopt a similar mindset? Not many (if any). Good on ya, Ngam! Washed down with refreshing beer from Singha, it was a great way to fend off a snowy March nor'easter. Check out reviews of the event here, and head here for photos.

Yelp Miami’s Evening In Paris

To start 2014 on the right note, Yelp Miami Elites made their way to Brickell for An Evening In Paris. French phenom L’Entrecote de Paris was the host for an evening of food, drink, music, and art — all with a positively bistro flair. After all, what can one say about an evening of captivating French jazz, canapés, live art, Old Fashioneds (fashioned from French whiskey), steak frites, and macarons? Energized Elites wrote their impressions here and photos can be found here.

PDXYelp ROFL's at LOLYelps @ Curious Comedy Theater!

Curious Cover

It's true. We were there. Over 130 Yelp Elites literally laughed out loud (although we didn't see anyone rolling on the floor) at Thursday, March 20th, 2014's evening of comedy at Curious Comedy Theater! Our hosts spoiled us with an hour-long reception followed by a Yelp-themed presentation of their musical improv show "Pipes"! Needless to say, there were some aching bellies this morning (from laughing, not the food) and maybe a cobweb or two in the head (from all that amazing beer and bubbly!). The 5-star reviews don't lie.

On Wednesday night, 30 Elite squad members and other VIPs enjoyed a wine education Elite event, The Liberation Of Food And Wine. Each place setting had a tasting palette and five wines, and local wine expert Tracey F walked Elites through a lesson in how and and why certain wines work with different foods. Elites also enjoyed passed apps and desserts, as well as the opportunity to try more of their favorite wines. Read all of the reviews here and see all the fabulous photos on the Flickr page.

Babeland Gets Five Sexy Stars

Posted by peter d.

Let's be frank for a second: We all deserve to have safe, enjoyable sex. It's fun, it's natural, and whether you're a hopeless neophyte (like this guy) or a practiced pro looking to perfect an already excellent game, Babeland is here for you. This female-first shop wants everyone to have the sex life they want. In fact, they literally wrote the book on it (seriously, it's called Moregasm), and Babeland is a pleasant, judgment-free place to get top quality products and most importantly, all the information and encouragement you ever wanted (and some you didn't know you needed). Last night they invited the Brooklyn Elite Squad out for their hilarious and informative Sex Toys 101 class, and it was a blast. If you aren't too scared, peep the reviews and photos for a sexy lil' rewind, and read on if you dare.

Yelpers Celebrate Spring with a Fling at the Long Beach Towne Center!

Spring fling pic

Yelpers spent the first official day of spring this past Thursday at the Long Beach Towne Center for Yelp’s Spring Fling that benefited local non-profit, Giving Children Hope. Not only did guests get to take advantage of the beautiful evening in the outdoors, they got to eat until they could consume no more, drink and be merry, snap a ton of photos, and take in the sounds of music from our spinning DJ. It was awesome to see the donations flood in at check-in where the attendees generously donated over 200-pieces of canned and dry food for the featured organization! Read the stellar reviews here and check out the plethora of photos on our Flickr Page.
