Oklahoma City’s 2014 Yelp Elite squad kicked off the year in high style at Yelp's Guernsey Park Getaway in the city’s Uptown 23rd neighborhood. The modern, multi-level space features a ground floor sushi bar, followed by a bar and lounge on the second level. Elites took over the entire third floor dining room of Guernsey Park, where they enjoyed an evening of Asian fusion cuisine, old and new friends, and an ambience unlike any other in the city.
Executive Chef Vuong Nguyen grew up in the Asian District and studied French cuisine as a Coach House apprentice. His visionary interpretation of Asian cuisine was on display for Elites on Tuesday evening. The first course consisted of Chicken wing "lollipops" dusted in Mochiko and served with a Thai chili gastrique and house pickles. Course two was a Grilled Nem Nuong, sweet pork sausage medallions over vermicelli in nuoc mam with chiffonade romaine in a peanut vinaigrette. The third course was an excellent, understated Ribeye and broccolini, which was followed by a carrot cake with cream cheese ice cream, ginger tuille, candied orange, candied pecans, and rum caramel.
Elites enjoyed complimentary vodka cocktails throughout the evening, compliments of Prairie Wolf Spirits. The founders were on hand to introduce their newest release, DARK, an American-made coffee liqueur, which Elites sampled alongside the carrot cake. DARK will be available at liquor stores throughout the region beginning on February 1.
Yelpers and their guests took a moment to pop into the photo booth for a chance to ham it up for Chris! Be sure to check out all the fun photos on Flickr, and read all the reviews on Yelp. We look forward to all kinds of food, fun and festivities as we explore Oklahoma City together in 2014!
