PDXYelp Elites Warm Up Their Winters @ Bistro Marquee

Posted by Don Bourassa

Oh the weather outside is frightful. Seriously though, it's been frickin' freezing out there Mr. Bigglesworth! And what better way to warm up from those arctic temperatures outside? Why by piling on in to Bistro Marquee for warm hospitality and even warmer comfort food at Yelp's Winter Warmer Elite Event!

On Monday, December 9th, at the height of Portland's cold snap, 75 of Portland's Elite cruised down to SW Portland to check out one of the neighborhood's hottest additions, Bistro Marquee! With Chef Rick Widmayer (of Screen Door fame) and Leslie Palmer (of Thirst Wine Bar renown) at the helm, we had nothing but great things to expect, and they delivered! Matt L exclaims "This event, location and food and drink were as the Yelp 5 star rating states... 'As good as it gets'!" We couldn't have said it better ourselves, Matt. The staff at Bistro Marquee welcomed us in with open arms and a stellar hot food buffet including antipasti like cured meats, crostini, cheese and pickled vegetables. Next came the hot food including pulled pork sliders, burger sliders, lamb meatballs, hush puppies, grit cakes with shrimp, house-made cavatelli with a rich, hearty sugo, beans, fried chicken with cornbread madeleines, prosciutto-wrapped dates and many, many more hot options. Samples? Hell no, there was more than enough food to go around!

Of course it wasn't just all about the food. Bistro Marquee worked with our friends Dogwood Distilling to create some tasty cocktials with their Union Gin and D.L. Franklin Vodka. On offer were a Moscow Mule and an Aviation variation that included a bubbly float. Aside from the cocktails, Yelpers also sipped on prosecco and frosty brews from Widmer Brothers Brewing, including the very appropriately-named dark ale "Brrr...". As Andrew H succinctly puts it, "the beverages were on point." And hey, we collected some great donations for our Ronald McDonald House Charity holiday donation drive!

Tamara S sums it up well. "I love an unexpectedly awesome Monday night, and I don't have anyone to thank save for Yelp (Don and Ana 4eva), the awesome crew at Marquee, and vodka. Yeah buddy." Yeah buddy indeed! Huge props go out to Leslie, Rick and the whole crew from Bistro Marquee; Jasin and Alex from Dogwood Distilling; Kevin from Widmer Brothers Brewing; Ana B; and of course the Yelp Elite Squad, without whom this would not be possible.

Don't just take my word for it. Read the reviews (and leave one yourself!), check the photos and make sure to keep up with us online (FB/Twitter) for more great happenings.

Until next time, SYOY!
