This month Yelp DC Elites got a taste of island life at a special intimate family style gathering at Sophie's Cuban.
"Really every detail was covered to make this the ideal way to experience a new business. We had a private floor, seated family style dining, and a warm welcome from the manager who gave us a brief history of the restaurant. Dish after dish that came out was not only exceptionally delicious, but served by waiters beaming with pride," reports Mandana Y. And what are the dishes you may ask? Our authentic Cuban feast included: roasted pork (pernil), shredded beef (ropa vieja), chicken fricasse, spicy slow baked chicken, salmon, beef stew, plantains, rice and beans, pork chops, a dizzying array of assorted tropical milk shakes, and of course a miniscule cup of cafe con leche to top off the night.
"This was my first seated dinner Yelp event. I definitely liked the more intimate setting since I got a chance to talk to several Yelpers I've never met before. There was plenty of picture taking and laughing going on and it really felt like our own little family. Second Thanksgiving indeed!" Nicole G adds. "The small coffee at the end of the meal was just enough to lift me out of my food coma and onto the metro. I came home, put on my sweatpants, and ate the Schakolad chocolate cigar. Perfect way to end a wonderful evening."
