What do you get when you combine three specially-designed cocktails, five bottles of Gonzalez Byass sherry, the hottest new barbershop-style speakeasy in town and 30 Edinburgh Yelpers? Answer: a party at Panda & Sons to really blow your whiskers off!
After donning their name badges and checking in to pick up their paper moustaches, the Yelpers were each treated to two stunning gin cocktails created specially for the event by Panda & Sons' bar team of leading mixologists. These citric zingers - including the 'Cressida Sangria' - really set the event off with a pop!
Pete from Gonzalez Byass flew in from Madrid, bringing with him five different bottles of sherry to pass around and pour freely for ourselves! Everyone got to try them all, complimented by cheese and olives. As he talked about the Gonzalez Byass bodega, guiding Yelpers through the differences, Pete 'really showed us sherry in a new light,' in Jennie S's words. 'Who knew that sherry was such a delight?'
Next up was another cocktail designed specially for the event, rounding off the evening alongside some cheese and meat platters. All the Yelpers were delighted to discover that all of the 'three amazing specially prepared cocktails' to which they'd been treated were available to buy for the rest of the evening at a special price, Rayan D recalls! 'Did I have some 47.5% ABV gin in the end? - Yes I do recall that too.'
The drinks flowed as freely as the conversation, with old faces and new packing out the two reserved rooms in Panda & Sons, which were overflowing with thoroughly festive jollity and friendship. 'All in all,' says new Yelper Maria P, a perfect way to spend a Tuesday evening before Christmas!'
It's all down to the incredible folks who really pulled out all of the stops to bring this event together. So, to the amazing Iain, all of his stunning bar team at Panda & Sons, the fabulous Pete and Gonzalez Byass, here's a giant festive thank you! And of course, a massive thank you too to our super-talented photographer Robin and to the brilliant Edinburgh Yelpers, who really know how to party with class!
Toodle-pip for now!
