Elite Event: Cocktailabend in der neueröffneten 35 mm hoch2 Bar

Posted by Verena

Bar_neu

Since early October, the 35 milli(m)eter restaurant opened new stylish bar & lounge on the first floor. Reason enough for the Munich Yelp Elite to visit the newly opened 35m (m) ² Bar & Lounge and enjoy a cocktail night there. After a friendly welcome from Zdenko and Torsten, the two men behind the 35 milli(m) eter, we were staggered with a sumptuous finger food buffet. Next to delicious crab salad with apricots, fresh sandwichesm antipasti skewers some sweet treasures such as tiramisu, home made cheesecake , Mouse au chocolat and much more waited for us. My personal culinary highlight of the evening was the popcorn buffet though. :-D After having some nibbles the curious Elites went on to storm the heart of the lounge, the square white bar. Bar manager Sadin was waiting for us to proof his cocktail mix talent with three personal cocktail creations, that were all absolutely tasty. In a slightly tipsy mood the night ended with a stay in the chill out lounge. Lothar G sums up the evening: " A truly successful evening with pleasant conversation , great catering and cocktails and a great presentation and explanation of the operators to the" new creation " 35mm ² bar."

Many thanks go to Zdenko, Torsten and Sadin for the incredible hospitality, the delicious food and the great cocktails were absolutely awesome. Further thanks goes to Antonio G, who made stylish popcorn & cocktail portraits of the night. Check out the entire photo gallery here. Wanna read the reviews from the Elites? Than click here.

Masterchef Yelp Elite @ De Markt/ Felix Pakhuis

Posted by Maud

Yelp LOVES De Markt!

Felix Pakhuis and De Markt are hotter than hot! There was strEAT tapa's, there are breakfasts and brunches… De Markt is now a food concept store that sells the best food and drink products. And now they also have Wim Ballieu's Balls & Glory! Of course Yelp had to be at the party to celebrate so they collaborated on a great Yelp Masterchef event! The Yelp Community was divided in 4 groups of 6 to 8 people to cook the best dinner on their own cooking space/ spot! Captains of these teams were Jelle P (pronounced Yelp oh yes :-) Marc S, Elise D and Sigal R. First they could shop in the little supermarket of De Markt for a total of max 25 euros on ingredients for 6 people and Chef Filip M, who would be the jury.Jelle P 's group won, of course what did you expect? They all received a coupon for a lunch at Balls & Glory.This great Masterchef event at De Markt was made possible by Filip M of De Markt and Tom and Ivo of Felix Pakhuis, who I want to thank for this great experience. Many thanks to Vedett for the wonderful beers. And again a standing ovation for the fingers and eyes of Sien Josephine Teijssen, our magnificent photographer! And last but not least our wonderful Yelp Community for being there, writing exquisite reviews about De Markt! I think they were all unanimous, they will all come back to shop, eat, drink, lunch, brunch, have coffee, buy wine,…Yelp LOVES De Markt!

Yelp Edmonton Elite Event: Carnevale di Carne at Saccomanno's

Posted by Jennie

On Thursday, November 14th Edmonton Elites and their guests were invited to the Carnevale di Carne! It was a celebration of delicious Italian family-style dining and food at Saccomanno Bros where guests were also treated to local craft beers, amazing entertainment and of course lots of fun and conversation with fellow Yelpers. From the beautiful floral arrangements on the tables from Janice's Growers Direct to the naughty and nice balloon creations from the incredibly talented Balloon Fairies, the wonderful details of Carnevale di Carne helped make the evening a great success.

  NovEE

When Yelp Elites walked into Saccomanno’s they could pick up some cool Yelp swag for playing classic carnival games, and as Sandra M remarked; “who doesn't love a fun photo booth with masks?” The carnival fun continued as the guests enjoyed beer sampeling of Death By Pumpkin, 100.3 FM The Bear and Baby Back Hops craft beers from St. Albert’s Hogs Head’s Brewery. Diplomatico Rum had an 8-year and 12-year aged rum, as well as rum liquor for the Elites to savour. Kristen K noted; “The 12 year may be the best (rum) I've ever had!”

   NovEE2

Guests were then treated to a five-course dining experience from the kitchen of Francesco Saccomanno! First up was an antipasto that included prosciutto pizza, fried Arancini risotto balls and charcuterie platter of meats and cheeses. Next course was a house-made penne and vodka infused rosé sauce, then another pasta course of Tagliatelle in Bolognese sauce. Alberta beef, cooked and provided by D'Arcy's Meat Market, was the star of the fourth course with two different kinds of short ribs including a Korean BBQ Beef that Ardy S declared; “I am salivating just thinking about it!” This course was accompanied with an arugula salad with pear slices. Each course came with a perfectly paired Californian wine from the vinyard of Warrant front man, Erik Turner. There was the 'Epic Day Chardonnay', 'Warrant I Saw Red' and 'Erik Turner Rocker Red'. In between the dinner courses Kyle, the owner of D’Arcy's Meats, treated Yelpers to a live demonstration of butchering knowledge and skills by French Cutting a wild boar and Deboning a full chicken in minutes! Finally to end the night guests could satisfy their sweet tooth with cupcakes for dessert, as well as fun cake pops to take home, all from Cakes by Candace.

NovEE3

A big thanks to all of the Yelpers, who came out to celebrate at this event. Special thanks to the Yelp Ambassadors Jasmine and Breanne, Saccomanno Bros, D’Arcy’s Meats, Hogs Head Brewery, Cakes by Candice, The Balloon Fairy, Janice Growers Direct and the fantastic photographers from Romy Young Studios for making the Carnevale di Carne one of the best Elite events to date.

Until Next Time...See You On Yelp.

Cheers, Jennie M, your Yelp Edmonton CM!

Yelp Elite@Heirloom

On November 27th, Yelp Istanbul Elite Squad was at Heirloom Cafe, a hidden gem in Cihangir. We not only enjoyed the beautiful appetizers that were prepared in detail by the beautiful owner, Dilek Çamlı, but also felt amazed by the amazing history of Heirloom.

Kolaj1

The 112 year old building is a whole experience by itself. We all fell in love with the beauty and history of it. The word "natural" suits Heirloom the best. In order to protect the earth, even the wall papers contain no chemical. While taking a tour around the hotel, we were amazed by Mrs Camli's passion to keep the place as authentic as possible.

PicMonkey Collage
Another amazing experience was waiting for us when we got back from our litte tour around the hotel. Syphon coffee, something not to be missed was prepared by Ahmet, the friendly employee of Heirloom. The whole thing was something not to be missed. We watched how the coffee is prepared to become something amazingly tasty.

PicMonkey Collage2Did you miss this one? Not to worry. There is of course more to come. Read the reviews, follow us on Facebook and Twitter, check out the pictures on Flickr & Facebook and stay tuned. Yelp is here for you to find out about great businesses. So keep on Yelping to find out more!

Yelp's Pre-Holiday Pamperfest at The Upkeep Shoppe

Posted by Andrea Banks

Ottawa Elites braved the city's first snow storm and were rewarded with a night of relaxation, spa-spoilage and great conversation at Yelp's Pre-Holiday Pamperfest @ The Upkeep Shoppe.

Collage1_upkeep

Elites old and new slipped and slided over to this Little Italy gem to sample some of their spa services including skin consultations and facials, mini manicures and spine soothing neck and shoulder massages from some truly outstanding staff. With holiday treats and wine from Jackson-Triggs, Woodbridge and Mokey Bay, this chatty bunch sipped and snacked their way through an evening of bliss.

Collage2_upkeep

The Upkeep Shoppe provided elites with nifty gift bags that included various skin care samples and hefty discounts on their next service. They also served up some of their scrumptious Apple Crumble tea post-treatment which was a lovely way to end the evening. Collage3_upkeep

A gigantic Yelp-sized thanks to owner Natalie and staff Sarah, Brandi, Jen, and skin consultant Nadine for braving the weather and making this night such a hit.

Yelp's Flight Club at Hall Wines

Posted by Kevin

Hall Wines rolled out the red carpet for our Yelp Elites at this month's Flight Club!

Yelpers were treated to a sneak peek of Napa Valley's hottest new destination. Check out the photos!

Upon arrival, guests were greeted with a glass of wine in Hall's historic Bergfeld Winery. We then mixed and mingled in their beautiful garden while taking in sweeping views of the St. Helena vineyards and mountains. Next we strolled through their Olive Grove, sipping wine among the woven willows structures by artist Patrick Dougherty. Our final stop was at Hall's new state-of-the-art Wine Making and Hospitality Center. Throughout the tour, we beheld fabulous works of art while tasting vinos from Hall’s Napa Valley collection (including the 2010 Kathryn Hall Cabernet Sauvignon - YUM!). All the featured wines were paired with mouthwatering bites (Ahi tuna tartare, duck confit tortellini, parmesan gnocchi, and beef tataki) specially prepared by Meadowood.

Special thanks to our hosts with the most, Hall Wines, for hosting us/spoiling us. I hope you all return soon once they officially open to the public. This winery is certainly going to be the talk of the town!

This was truly a wine/food experience that Yelpers won't soon forget. Check out the red-hot reviews!

Yelp Gets Reel at Red Lobster!

Posted by Annette

Last week, elite yelpers and their guests were treated to a veritable smorgasbord of delightful oceanic treats compliments of Red Lobster in Rochester Hills! This newly renovated Red Lobster set the perfect scene for a night filled with excellent eats, super sips, and wicked wins!

Collage1

Guests were introduced to new menu items (and some classics!) via a very generous array of family style servings laid out in multiple rounds. Curious about the menu? Here it is: Crispy Green Beans, Lobster Pizza, Seafood Stuffed Mushrooms, Spicy Buffalo Chicken Bites, Sweet Chili Shrimp, Fiesta Salad, Parmesan Crusted Chicken Alfredo, Portofino Seafood Bake, Tilapia with Roasted Vegetables, Wood-Grilled Tacos, Caramel Cheesecake, Key Lime Pie, and Triple Chocolate Brownie a la Mode. Plus, of course, unlimited Cheddar Bay Biscuits at each table. WHEW!

Collage2

Each guest was also given their choice of two boozy beverages and you'd better believe they took advantage of the likes of Berry Mango Daiquiris and Mango Mai Tais! Throughout the evening guests were also encouraged to tweet and instagram their favorite dishes with the hashtag #TasteRL to be entered to win an array of Red Lobster gift certificates.

Throughout the evening guests were encouraged to take advantage of our whimsical "Under the Sea" themed photo booth (complete with a massive light up jellyfish!) and, as guests exited, they were encouraged to fill up takeout boxes with even more food and they were given bodacious Red Lobster totebags filled with coupons for return visits. What a generous bunch!

Collage3

A multitude of thanks go out to the expert staff, management, and servers at Red Lobster who took care of us that evening. I hope I have the number right but I believe these awesome folks had an average of 12 years of experience with Red Lobster so they certainly knew their stuff and it showed! Also, thanks go out to Katie and the team at Edelman for coordinating the event, Yelptern Chelcie W for helping the event run so smoothly, Doug Coombe for taking the fab photos you can view here, and of course all the elites who came out and made the evening such a success!

Want to know more? Check out all the glowing 5 star reviews here. And of course, if you were there, please be sure to write your own!

Until the next one, SYOY!

New Orleans Parties Like It’s 1933

Posted by Morgan

Our Elites hopped into their handy dandy time machines to travel back to 1933 to celebrate the opening of Pat O’Brien’s in the French Quarter, soon to be turning 80! These cats were privy to a pre-anniversary party in the Briar Suite where Pat O’s brought out the big guns with a cache of cocktails and a hearty feast.

“This roll-back party was just the ticket, despite New Orleans being the wettest city in the US,” swoons Suzanne C, with a coy reference to not only the weather, but our affinity for the hooch here in the big toe of the boot state!

Throwback30scollage1Little

Guests arrived to our very own Yelptern Vicky L transformed into a sultry candy cigarette girl peddling her wares of chocolate stogies and Compli-mints to the guests. It might’ve been the Great Depression but we weren’t rationing fluffy, delicious cupcakes of all flavors, thanks to the Kupcake Factory.

After indulging in the cornucopia of throwback cocktails including Sazeracs, brandy milk punch, and gin fizzes, guests found themselves toe-tapping to our very own swing band, Jack Pritchett’s New Orleans Ragweeds; a three-piece swing band with Kris Tokarski tickling the ivories, Andy Reid slappin’ the bass and Pritchett on vocals and the horn. These guys had Dance Quarter’s skillful instructors Katarina Boudreaux and Gabriel Cavallini bouncing and dipping all over the dance floor with their serious swing moves! Lindsay A’s "favorite moment was seeing our very own Jeff C cutting a rug" in his zoot suit!

Throwback30scollage2Little

With Throwback ‘30s Trivia and our very own Repeal Day Photo booth, things were upbeat all night! Pat O’s Scott Touchton gave us the rundown on the restaurant and bar’s dedication to its locals. We toasted their signature Hurricanes to Pat O’s next 80 years!

Throwback30scollage3Little

I would like to thank Pat O’Brien’s for hosting this fabulous event, and congratulations on your true anniversary event on December 3, 2013! Thank you also to the Kupcake Factory, Dance Quarter’s Katarina and Gabriel for showing us how to swing, and The New Orleans Ragweeds for some great tunes! Step back in time with our photos courtesy of Billy Welliver from Welliver Productions and Royal Montz! Relive our hoppin’ good time through our swingin' reviews. Can’t wait to see you on the next go’round!

Yelp Leeds Is Smelling The Roses: Elite Event@Lemongrass House

Posted by Rowena Harris

Lemon1

With the season comes the cold and the rain, but this wasn't enough to stop Yelpers from braving the weather and stepping out for another exclusive event, to get an insider's look at one of Leeds' newest hot spots. This time we were invited in to get a hands on, indulgent, and delightfully scented taster of Lemongrass House, withing the Trinity Shopping Centre.

Lemon0

The moment folks arrived, their olfactory senses were hit with the delightful aromas within the space. Indeed, you can catch a whiff even far back, before you arrive at their door. The agenda was to take a deep and delving look into their luxury spa products, glean a bit of the history of this business, and indulge in a mini-pamper.

Lemon2

Upon arrival everyone was welcomed with a delectable cocktail from Koko Kanu, a coconut rum-based drink, topped off with delicious jam. As everyone refreshed their mouths with a few sips, the browsing and mingling began, whilst waiting for the rest of the party to arrive.

Lemon3

Once everyone was in, drink in hand, and introduction was given from Lemongrass House. They were established in 1996, based in Thailand, where all the products are made from 100% natural and fresh ingredients, from safe and renewable resources. Passion and knowledge are lovingly poured into every item, the key being in concentrated essential oils.

Lemon4

At this point, it was announced every guest was to be gifted with a free product of their choice, which is where the investigation began! With a few more cocktails in hand, a thorough browse of the products began, from face and hair, to bath and shower, aromatherapy, and even dog products – for cracked winter paws, and whiffy coats.

Lemon5

At this point, the light bites for the evening arrived – some beautifully arranged trays of authentic Asian goodies, courtesy of Street Fodder. Street Fodder is a mobile food truck, who serve fresh, locally sourced Asian cuisine across streets of Leeds – watch out for their beautiful blue van! With an array of satay chicken, beautifully cooked spring rolls, som tum salad, and maing som, everyone was delighted with the canapés, which disappeared in no time.

Lemon6

Following the food came the hand massages and 'name that scent test'. As everyone put their names on the list for a hand massage from Lemongrass House, others took turns to take the mini vials under their noses, and see if they could recognise the aromas within. With 10 scents to name, and world of aroma within the space, it was a tricky game – even with all the investigation and practice! The hand massages were also a highlight of the evening, especially when the difference in appearance and feel of the skin was measured.

Lemon7

And finally, the winners of the 'name that scent' test were announced, with three coming top spot. The winning score may have been a lowly 4 out of 10, but Nicola G walked away with the top prize! Congrats to all who took part – that's the bit that counts, right? And so there ended yet another incredible Elite event, showcasing the best of Leeds to the best of Yelp. These exclusive events match the heart and soul of the site itself – to help people seek out genuinely passionate and worthwhile experiences and businesses in Leeds, and given how many guests now have Lemongrass on their Christmas shopping list, we can call that a job well done.

Lemon8

It's all about spreading the word, and sharing the love here on Yelp – so if you've a few businesses to talk about, you know where to do so. And who knows, if you get involved, maybe you can come to an event like this yourself, sometime soon! Thanks goes out to SLB and Lemongrass for this incredible event, Street Fodder and Koko Kanu for their excellently pleasing treats, Matthew Kitchen for capturing the moment, and the Leeds Yelp crew for being the most fantastic community! Check out all the pics and reviews right here for more of the gossip.

Wish you were here? (There?) Check out these sunny snaps!

Yelp's Steak-cookin' Masterclass Elite Event

Posted by Ben B.

Oh man. Get ready for some superlatives. Right before this Elite Event went down, The Oaks won ‘Best Steak’ in the Pub Guide Awards. As a portent, this was potent indeed. And let me tell you, the grand old dame of the North Shore – fresh from a multi-million dollar makeover at the hands of renowned architects Paul Kelly Design – delivered, and delivered in spades. Just . . . wow. Yelpers were told to wear their grillin’ pants and to come hungry. It sounded like a joke. It wasn’t.

Collage 1

With exclusive use of the brand spankin’ new Garden Pavilion, The Oaks effervescent manager Jenny dished out wine and craft beer before Italian chef Danny Russo and Josh from Havericks Meats kicked off a steak masterclass on sourcing, preparation, seasoning, and cooking. Pro tips: salt the meat before cooking not after, and don’t cook with pepper, which overtakes the meat and sticks to the grill.

Collage 2

Danny led the way to the giant outdoor grill and showed guests how to cook the perfect blue steak, before slicing it thin and doused in lemon juice. If ever a chef needs his own TV show, it’s this guy. What a showman.

Collage 3

Then it was go time. Yelpers chose their own cut of meat from the in-house butcher – Flat iron, Grass-fed sirloin, Dry-aged rib eye, or Wagyu rump – seasoned with olive oil and The Oaks’ house-made smoked salt, then hit the grills.

Collage 4

The communal dining table was stacked high with steak, juicy marrowbones, twice-cooked duck fat potatoes, and an epic slaw spiked with parmesan. Andrew H said it best: “I really do take my cap off to the team at The Oaks for providing a truly exceptional experience, and of a world class standard, right here in Sydney.”

Collage 5

And hey, do you know how excited people get about the ultimate steak? One member of the Yelp crew who shall remain nameless (*cough* Sam Macdonald Photography *cough*) gave up 7 years of vegetarianism to get involved. Best call he ever made!

Until next time, SYOY (See You On Yelp!)

Elite Event Yelp Napoli #1

Posted by Maddalena G

PicMonkey Collage4

Tuesday November, 19st the first event dedicated to the Elite Squad arrived in Neaples. At the Archeobar "a new generation of literary cafe with tablet and books", as pointed out by Alfonso G., has become the perfect location for a vintage adventure. " Warm and relaxed atmosphere, many friends around, a good drink in hands and vintage accessories by Nenton Vintage. What could be better in the first of many real cold afternoon?" Exclaims enthusiastically Carla B.

Collage Nov 2

Rosanna D. has no doubt "Protagonist of the event is the typewriter... a timeless vintage charm". Then the theatre comes into the event: the actor Roberto Giordano interpretated a funny pice of Jarry Lewis in" The Typewriter" and the actress Federica Aiello praised a couple of Yelp review". "I always thought that the bad weather ruins events, but I immediately changed my mind!" says Maria Laura L. and Giovanna A. assumes "a nice atmosphere and friendly complicity that allowed everyone to chat, exchange ideas and experiences. I did know nobody but I did not even feel embarrassed."

My biggest THANK YOU goes to You, Elites and Yelpers, for taking part of this amazing event, to Archeobar, to Nenton Vintage , to Roberto Giordano and Federica Aiello end to  Matteo Insolvibile for the pics!

Dallas Elite Event: Yelp's All American Eats At Becks Prime

Posted by Heli M.

The chilly mid-November temps did not stop Yelp Dallas Elites from attending Elite Event: Yelp's All American Eats At Becks Prime. From start to finish, Yelpers were wined and dined. After checking in at the Yelp table, guests were led to a private room to start the evening off with light bites and an open bar complete with Deep Ellum brews and a variety of selected wine. "As soon as myself and my husband arrived, we were greeted by Heli and got in line to get our drinks and chips with queso, salsa and guacamole," writes Jaya F.

Beckscollage2

"The food started coming and I don't think it ever really stopped," observed Malia R. Elites got to try everything on the menu from the "California burger with Swiss cheese and avocado" to "the Ahi Tuna burger which was out of this world." And it didn't stop there, throw in milkshakes, sweet potato and house fries, an Alpine Chicken sandwich" all made in house from scratch and Yelpers were literally bursting at the seams with satification!

Becks4

With an extremely hospitable staff, generous portions of food and drinks, and having nearly the entire restaurant sectioned off for Yelp Dallas, it was hard for Elites not to be impressed apparent from the all-around 5-star reviews! If you missed out on the event or have yet to upload your own Beck's Prime photos, check out the business listing here!

What a delicious way to wrap up the month. Another one coming your way soon. Until then, SYOY (See You On Yelp)!

Yelp’s Gobbling Up The Goodies At Get Caked

Posted by Breanna

The Rochester Elite squad had a chance to get their hands dirty at this month's Elite Event. Get Caked hosted the crew for a Thanksgiving-themed cupcake decorating extravaganza. All were prepared to show of their confectionary skills. Jen T relished in her ability “to learn a clever little trick with frosting.”

There was a cornucopia of wine, bites from Cipolla Romaine, and lots-o-sweets. Naz B was thankful for CR’s “carrot fritter,” which “was one of the healthier parts of the evening.” Katie O agreed; the pancetta wrapped shrimp topped with shrimp was “perfectly savory to balance the sugary and delicious indulgences for the rest of the evening.”

Get Caked collageThe owner of Get Caked, Kelly, was a masterful instructor, showing the simplest steps to frosting a cupcake to look like a turkey. The guests were able to take their own creative liberties with the remaining cupcakes. The results were amazing – elaborate turkeys, the original Thanksgiving attendees: a pilgrim and Native American, Yelp emblazoned cupcakes, and even an elephant.

Get Caked Collage2One special addition was Yelp’s Holiday Donation Drive to benefit the Ronald McDonald House of Rochester. Everyone brought at least one item and the box was overflowing with donations for RMHC. What a great way to spread the holiday cheer.

Get Caked Collage3.jpgChristopher B said it right; “everyone left this November holiday gathering thankful, happy, and well sugared.”

Thanks to Lauren McLaughlin for nabbing the event photos.

We’re thankful for a lot this year! Hugs go out to all that helped with this event including Kelly and Andy from Get Caked, and Dave and Joe from Cipolla Romaine.

Yelp Elites Mustache You A Question, But They'll Shave It For Later

Posted by benjamingetz

Swanky, downtown location? Check.

Great cocktails? Check.

Baller-status food? Check.

Well, you must be at White Oak Kitchen & Cocktails if you can cross each one of those line items off of your list. Our ATL Elites gathered for a little Movember ‘Stache Bash…fully stocked with mustaches of all shapes, sizes, varieties, and levels of greatness.

WOKC touts quite the lineup of bourbons and whiskeys. Next time you're in the downtown area, check these guys out for slammin' cocktail. The menus are sure to keep you in tune with your foodie self, too.

Photo 1

The cocktails did flow, oh dear Yelpers. [Prepared by the more-than-able bartenders] flowed forth the acclaimed Bobby Jones – Jack Daniels Sour Mash Whiskey and a fantastic mix of tea, peach bitters, and sweet, sweet love. On the menu as well was the Mary Jones – Jack Daniels Tennessee Honey with a sweet tea and lemon. David K sums it sup – “Speaking of drinks, Jack Daniels Honey is one of my favorite libations and I'm glad they served it tonight. Super nomz!” For the beer-lovers, Max Lager’s beer was on tap! The scrumptious White Oak White and the NZ Imperial IPA foamed up many a glass as well.

Photo 2

Food? Bring it on. Set before Elites was a smattering of Goat Cheese Fritters, Charcuterie, and delectable Shrimp and Andouille skewers. Christy M makes special mention of those fritters – “I managed to scarf three of those luscious goat cheese fritters alongside my cocktails, and they were perfect to round out the evening.”

Photo 3

On-site were also our good friends from good ol’ Lyft. Providing some great ride credits to get Elites to and fro for the evening and even throwing in their own whiskerful pink moustaches into the mix. Many photos and selfies were taken while Elites adorned themselves with the pink fare as part of our Instagram Contest. The winner? The illustrious Dee Dee C! Here’s her winning shot. So much ‘stache and we love it.

Huge thanks to White Oak Kitchen & Cocktails for hosting and for Lyft providing us with some fun rides!

La Ley seca llega a Yelp @ Old Fashioned

Posted by Sharon

On Wednesday November 20th we had a party at a cozy little cocktail of Gracia, the Old Fashioned - Gin Tonic & Cocktail Bar, where we pay tribute to the years of Prohibition. Robert V said, "just entering we realized that we were in another time, and you could see Sharon and other Yelpers acclimating the Old Fashioned, which wants to focus on a style of the past, specifically the 30's".CuatroThe event included drinks (all drinks were poker chips that were given to attendees at the door), and if you did check-in at the event, you could enjoy delicious cocktails prepared with love by the folks of the Old Fashioned bar. Fer G said: "This time, if we did check-in on the event, we were able to try two different cocktails, the Speakeasy Martini, which is what I ordered, by the way I need to say that was delicious, and the Alcapone cocktail". On the other hand, our sponsor The Market Barcelona had prepared some delicious tapas that Olivier M called "exquisite and delicate".

CincoOne of the big surprises of the night was the live music at the hands of the band "Chino" which enlivened the celebration with songs Jazz, Blues and Swing songs with an impeccable style and sound. Inés M said that music was just "one of the best things of the party", but also the detailed photocall "prepared with accesories so anyone who would wanted could be characterized about the 20's; feathers and bows were everywhere, that and great drinks".

SeisOnce again, heartfelt thanks to our sponsors who made this event so special: the Old Fashioned - Gin Tonic & Cocktail Bar for their professionalism and friendliness, The Market Barcelona for those exquisite tapas, and the guys in the band Chino for the extraordinary music. Do not forget to leave your review for the event or have a look at our photo set on Flickr they are so cool! Thanks to Francisco G for these fabulous snapshots. See you soon!

Yelp Philadelphia Falls Into Wine & Whiskey

Last Thursday evening, nearly 200 Yelp Philadelphia elite members and their guests gathered at Cavanaugh's Headhouse Square for Yelp's Fall Into Wine & Whiskey Party. Cavanaugh's offered their entire second floor for this event, which consists of several large rooms that each featured various wine, whiskey, beer and vodka tastings.

Boston Elites Go On A Parisian Crepe Escape!

Posted by Damien S

Sacre bleu! Elite Yelpers and their guests flooded Paris Creperie's nook in Coolidge Corner for a frost night of brand new recipes, perfectly paired cocktails, homebrew of their making and a little icebreaker that devolved in to phallic penguin drawings. It's true.

Crepe1

Because just one party isn't enough, two waves of guests feasted on sweet and savory crepes, including never-before-tasted debuted to the crowd. Take it from Laura A: "The new Gorgonyolo is my new fave for sure! Calories be damned because... well, like the name says, YOLO!" The yo-lovely ladies of Booze Epoque crafted seasonal samples of the festive and light boozy nog, bellinis and more. All the while, Yelpers shared a little bit of themselves as they broke the ice to new faces with a bauble-backed story of "One Night In Paris..." One of the winners, Andrea B, puts it plainly: "I had an amazing time telling penis stories at this event."

Crepe2

And what night would be complete without a tour of la Tour Eiffel, the truck Paris Creperie slings their wares from on the daily? Tatsu snapped proper pics (tag 'em on Facebook), and the five-star reviews speak for themselves. Great first taste, and loads of love to all who made the party possible!

Au revoir!

Yelp's doing a donation drive for the Ronald McDonald House and Make Meaning got on board by donating 50 plates and 50 mugs for the Elites to paint and donate to the Ronald McDonald House. After painting for a cause, Elites had the choice to either decorate their own cake or make their own soap, all while they enjoyed a wide-range of bites! Soirée Élite : Yelp Passe En Mode DIY chez Unique en Série

Yelp Elite Nov.2013-22

Yelp Elite Nov.2013-22
November is a sad sad month with only huge grey clouds covering the sky. Wrong! November is a month of joy… Just look at the faces of these Yelpers coming to this first DIY Elite event. Smiling, happy and above all curious to discover a new place and finally find out why there were asked to bring a light-colored tshirt or a tote bag with them. In the studio of Unique en Série, guided by Alexandra and Anne-Claire, the two owners and designers, they learned what the silk-screen printing was, how it works and could customize their t-shirt all by themselves with a design of their choice. What a nice way to celebrate November!

"Gioca con Yelp!" da LittleBigTown (Mini-Yelper Party Yelp Roma)

Posted by Valeria I.

Simone C thinks that "the venue was totally original and perfect".

If you think that it was difficult to imagine an event with food/wine and beer tasting in a toy shop, well, "you were wrong", says Simona V. "The event was amazingly perfect!". On the three floors of the shop, there were 8 sponsors who delighted the Yelpers with their specialities.

Romain R even discovered his inner talent of rock singer “We had such a blast singing so loudly bad ! Outcome of the night : I am voiceless !”.

Capture d’écran 2013-11-25 à 15.35.49 Thanks to our venue (Le Bar d’En Face), The Elites got the chance to taste a crazy huge range of different  shot drinks flavours : Bubble gum, caramel, chocolate, cherry … All of this in an effervescent atmosphere. Gaelle L adored the “hurricane of shooters, and mis-singing !”

Yelp's Carb Fest at Hartford Baking Company!

Posted by Emily

On a chilly Wednesday night, Hartford's yelp Elite warmed up with a visit to Hartford Baking Company. From housemade pastries to an array of breads, savory sandwiches, and some of the best coffee around, the night’s offerings gave guests a new outlook on fresh, local fare.

As Courty C so eloquently puts it, “You know that squishy "bread" in the supermarket, with the brown top in the white bag? Sorry, but it's not bread. Hartford Baking Company definitely showed us the true power of flour.” Thank you, HBC, for an amazing event!

Hbc1

Julia W gravitated towards the night's savory offerings, noting, “the hummus and caramelized onion sandwich on French peasant bread was my favorite sample of the evening” with “the kalamata olive bread with lemon and chive butter” as a close second. As a café regular and self-proclaimed HBC addict, Anna E “loved the brie and apricot jam crostinis” and gives props to the bakery; “They use the highest quality ingredients, put forth their best effort in creating desirable product, and make everything they can in house from scratch.” Can’t beat it!

Hbc2

Looking back on the brewing demo, a caffeine-fuelled Carol M says, “I loved the coffee tasting and nerding out with the owners about all the different brewing methods.” Who knew there were so many?

  Hbc4On to the sweet stuff, Courty C recalls, “HBC showed us their repertoire only begins with bread. The gingerbread cookie was divine with the crunchy flecks of coarse sugar on top of its soft, spicy inside. That and the other delicious cookies met stiff competition with the rich, salted caramel peanut bar.” Throw in some brownies, raspberry almond bars and caramel popcorn for what Steven T refers to as a “fresh, delicious and just downright satisfying” experience.

Hbc3

Thank you Hartford Baking Company for a phenomenal event! I think we all echo Sarah D’s sentiment: “I could eat my way through HBC any day of the week.” Take a look at the rave reviews here and check out Nick Caito’s photos of the event on Flickr

See you on Yelp!

Richmond Parties With A Purpose At Yelp Helps!

Posted by Jamie

Richmond Yelpers looking to give back and do good gathered at Gallery5 on November 20 for the inaugural Yelp Helps: Party With a Purpose – a celebration centered around philanthropy and nonprofit match-making! The feel-good fete featured 14 inspirational nonprofits, who were able to connect with the community while promoting volunteer opportunities, awareness, and ways to give back. What a perfect way to kick off a holiday season of helping!

Npo collage1

Gallery5 was the perfect place to host such a community-focused event, as this award-winning nonprofit visual and performing arts venue is an anchor in the downtown arts community. Not to mention the historic building was once a firehouse, police station and jailhouse… a unique and impressive venue, to say the least!

Npo collage2

While Yelpers explored the gallery, they also interacted with incredible nonprofits: Arthritis Foundation, Comfort Zone Camp, Dress for Success, Easter Seals UCP, Feast RVA, Girls Can, HomeAgain, Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden, Richmond Metropolitan Habitat for Humanity, Ronald McDonald House Charities, Studio Two Three, VCU Massey Cancer Center, and YMCA of Greater Richmond. From printmaking to writing Christmas cards for troops to sharing ideas for making Richmond an even better place, the evening was filled with creativity and do-gooding. Judy L "loved learning about all the wonderful volunteer opportunities in RVA and can't wait to help!"

Activity collage1

While guests soaked up nonprofit knowledge, a dazzling array of delectable treats and eats tantalized their tastebuds. Crave-worthy creations from Sugar Shack Donuts, King of Pops, and Two Sweet Cupcake Boutique satisfied even the sweetest of tooths, while popchips and a Pretzel Crisps dipping station took care of the snack attacks. Vita Coco kept us hydrated throughout the night and Gallery5's brilliant bartender kept the booze flowing.

Food collage

An enormous thank you to Gallery5 for sharing their incredible venue for this event. Many thanks to Splash DJ for rockin' the tunes, to our food and bev partners for pleasing our palates, and hats off to photographer extraordinaire Sara Clarken for capturing it all on camera. And of course, to the incredible nonprofits and Yelpers who made this event possible - thank you for all that you do for our community! Kari O sums it up perfectly: "This was such a great way to introduce some of the city's nonprofits to folks! The food was great, drinks were rockin' and a good time was had by all!"

Activity collage2

Want to relive the fun or check out what you missed? Peep the photos and read the reviews (and if you were there, leave your own if you'd like). And don't forget to keep an eye on the Yelp Events page for opportunities to volunteer throughout December!

Until next time, See You On Yelp!

Yelp South Bay's Art of Entertainment Kickoff Party

Posted by Abby Schwarz

Feeling the pangs of holiday creep? Doff those oven mitts and put down that box of decorations. We mean it! Instead, take a load off with Yelp's Art Of Entertainment. Unwrap the gift of fun with relaxing events and awesome activities to keep you sane and entertained from now until the end of the year!

Yelp South Bay kicked off the holiday season in style with ladies and gents dressed to impress at the San Jose Museum of Art! Here, we got up close and personal with their newest exhibit, "Around The Table: Food. Creativity. Community" with yelpy gusto. Read all about this festive fête that launched a series of awesome events!

Kickoff collage 1

About the Venue/Exhibit:

San Jose Museum of Art is a distinguished museum of modern and contemporary art and a lively center of arts activity in Silicon Valley. The leading institution in the area dedicated to the art of our time, SJMA is committed to providing access for its extraordinarily diverse populations and to pioneering new approaches to interpretation.

About "Around the Table" Exhibit:

You are what you eat. This exhibition—the catalyst for an accompanying festival of activities presented by thirty partnering organizations—celebrates and explores the role that food plays in our lives. The agricultural bounty of our region has brought waves of immigration (Italian, Japanese, Portuguese, Mexican, Vietnamese) and shaped a rich history of cultural diversity, which today we share in part via food. From food trucks to molecular gastronomy, food helps define the Bay Area’s communities.

Every time you sit down to eat, you make choices. In today’s world, food has social, economic, and political implications. Food is charged with pleasures—and with meaning.

Around the Table unfolds in three stages at SJMA this fall, and extends far beyond the Museum’s walls. In conjunction with this expansive project, SJMA is also piloting a new, integrated arts-education initiative, “Sowing Creativity.” And some thirty partner organizations are participating in the extensive community festival of food, creativity, and community. Activities include gleaning tours, farm visits, performances, and exhibitions.

"I've seen the San Jose Museum of Art close down for special events before so when I heard they were the venue of choice, I could only imagine the possibilities. All of the Yelpers brought their A game when it came to this black tie event! When I first walked in, I already knew it would be amazing. The bright white walls, floors & ceilings really brought out everyone's classy attire! My eyes immediately fixed on the gorgeous De Young Flowers' blue & white centerpiece, it was simple, festive & tied perfectly to the theme!" - Ly D

"**If I could use one words to describe this event***
~~~~~~ELEGANT~~~~~~
The ladies were all dolled up like it was prom night, the fellas all looked like an ad from the Men's Warehouse, and the San Jose Museum Art was the perfect place to hold such an ELEGANT event!?!" -
Deep S
"I had so much fun taking a breather from the midweek grind to attend this event. The party venue is definitely a great choice for a private and swanky affair like this one. Most importantly, the venue was full of so much art--it made me wish that I did not park in the 30 min zone and I had more time to look around!  I love the SJ Modern Art Museum, but the exhibits right now definitely are right up there on my list." - Liyaty Z
Kickoff Collage 8
To add even more excitement to the festivities, our generous community raised over $1,500 for our host venue *and* collected over three large barrels of canned goods for Sacred Harvest Food Bank
Read all of the Art of Entertainment reviews and take a peek at both photo albums, from Stung Photography as well as Yelper Alex Liu. Mind you, this was a kickoff to a series of events, everything from DIY snow globes to brewery tasting to movie night. We're making sure Yelpers are having a good time with local businesses this holiday season and beyond!
Yelpers Get Artsy at Paint by the Glass!
Posted by Cindy
Intro3
Our Yelp's Feelin' Artsy Elite Event was a resounding 5-star success! There was food, fun, booze, painting, and one heck of a soundtrack! What more could you want?
Front
30 Yelpers came out to celebrate this local business and all of it's charm. Upon arriving Yelpers could check-in to the event party page on their Yelp mobile app and get a free wine glass to paint
"This event was one word: AMAZING! I really like the diversity of events Cindy is doing this year! It was a great idea to bring wine glasses to paint as well - I can't wait to start using them!!" - Nate S
Checkin
Some were a little nevous about showing off their art skillz, but at Paint by the Glass, "no artistic talent is required! We had an instructor walk us through the steps to create the painting step by step. Basic guidelines are given, but there was also the freedom to personalize your art. This event was tops and I can't wait to take another class! - Danae B
Food2
Of course after a little liquid courage our art skillz improved greatly!
"The drinks were an awesome touch and the bottle prices were very resonable. The music was fun and made me nostalgic for the 90's. Overall, I was very happy with my painting and will definitely be back to give it another Van Gogh (see what I did there).  I can't wait to paint my pets!" - Kara C
Painting2Paint by the Glass offers team building classes, girls night out parites, paint your pet night, wine glass painting and SO much more! For a list of all the super fun activities check out their website here at www.paintbytheglass.com and like them on FB for cool pics and updates!
Glass
Jessica D has a confession: "This was my first Yelp Elite Event. My cherry has been popped, people! And there is no looking back. You can take this as a blessing or an omen, but my expectations are set unreasonably high for future Yelp events. I felt artsy (but not fartsy) and like an immediate descendent of Van Gogh himself--except with wine, and laughter. I had a great time, and no one removed his or her ear, either."
Final
Don’t just take our word on the night’s awesomeness, you can read all the reviews right here. You can also check out the other cool pics by photographer extraordinaire Laura Ghory of Laura Elaine Photography right here
A BIG thank you to all the lovely ladies at Paint by the Glass for being such incredible hosts and inviting us into your home for a super fun night! Also, thank you to all the elites for coming out and getting artsy with us.
Yelp's Passport to Glendale
What has more gems than a Tiffany's store? Jewel City, so it's no surprise that we teamed up with the blinged out 'hood to bring the Los Angeles Yelp Community a jam-packed schedule of events that showed off the most sparkling side of Glendale. Yelp's Passport to Glendale Passport13_Glendale_165x150 featured ten days of curated events, from Saturday, November 9th through Tuesday, November 19th, that highlighted some of the city's dining, shopping, and entertainment options.
Kicking things off was a Backyard Bash at Complex. The casual affair welcomed guests from all over to enjoy The Complex's NYC style brick-walled, string lit outdoor space, while munching on shelled bites from El Toro Tacos and sweet treats from Napoleon's Macarons. The libations were flowing thanks to Mike's Hard Lemonade and Cayman Jack, and the night ended with a dance party inspired by DJ Greg Tuzin's kick ass jams. Day two, we worked off some serious steam and calories with CrossFit and Yoga classes at Jewel City CrossFit/Yoga. After attendees sweated out the weekend, they were rewarded with silders from Vagabond Grillyard and chocolate and vanilla beverages from Muscle Milk. Namaste to OC CM, Ryan C, for teaching killer back-to-back yoga sessions!
PicMonkey Collage
The Famous turned into a page from US Weekly on Monday for an Almost Famous fete, complete with two aptly named cocktails, "The Paparazzi" (Cherry Lime Rickey) and "The Celebrity" (Autumn Crush), worthy of any red carpet affair. Vagabond Grillyard was slinging sliders once again, and Goodie Girls made mouths smile with their chocolate caramel pumpkin cupcakes. The jazzy background tunes by Echo Lake Quartet were the perfect melody to keep everybody groovin' and boozin'. Recess provided a Pre-Thanksgiving Feast under the stars with complementary cocktails by Buffalo Trace Bourbon and Geijer Glögg. And on Wednesday, we lunch breaked at Damon's for a four-course meal, washed down with their famous Mai Tai and Chi Chi! Those that wanted a two-fer could visit Red Carpet Wine & Spirits for a "light flight" of New Belgian beers and a discount on adult bevi purchases to enjoy at home.
The Americana at Brand Tasting Tour was one for the books! The trolley chauffeured lucky yelpers to Frida Mexican Cuisine for margaritas, sangria, and a selection of apps, then over to Katsuya for individual samplers of their most popular items, and finally Bar Verde, Nordstrom's lovely farm-to-table small plates restaurant for a night cap of wine, chocolate, and savory treats. Napoleon's Macarons were gifted to all guests as an amuse bouche, trolley snack, or post-tasting tour bite, as was complimentary valet for the rest of the year and gift certificates to Americana at Brand to a handful of winners. We then met up for linner on Saturday at Joon Shabu Shabu. Shabu Shabuers got to customize (and cook) their meal with Joon's homemade sauces and Sapporo was the drink of choice for the afterevening food sesh. On Sunday we got our Buffalo Brunch on at Neat with Buffalo Trace Bourbon Bloody Marys, a wing buffet provided by Delivery.com, as well as the Buffalo Bills game! Who won, you ask? Who cares! We were knee deep in bourbon and wings at that point!
PicMonkey Collage1
Far Niente hosted the happiest of hours on Monday, Nov. 18th, with a slew of delicious appetizers, including fried ravioli and their perfectly cooked pizza. The larger than life projection screen was blasting MNF for those that wanted the game, and Chimay, wine, and well cocktails flowed like water. Tuesday, we closed out Passport at MGN Five Star Cinema with a luxury movie-going experience. Guests munched on tray-passed apps and popcorn while taking in previews in the theater's reclining seats. Wine and Remy Martin vodka cocktails were enjoyed while soaking up the sounds of KennyMac Entertainment "A Little Bit of Something for Everyone" and The BabyDolls "Entertainment with Flair...Divas Extraordinaire".
All pictures and reviews can be found on the official review page, as well as the Yelp LA Flickr page. Big thanks to Debra Morrison Photography for catching some of the shenanigans throughout the ten-day promotion!
It was a really unique way to explore the city and celebrate the local businesses that call it home. #yelpthedale
Yelp’s Hollywood Boulevard Party
Posted by Laura
Yelp Perth rolled out the red carpet for 400 Yelpers at our biggest event yet – Yelp’s Hollywood Boulevard Party. YB1
Hosted in the stunning surrounds of The Bouelvard Hotel, their palm tree studded garden was filled with guests in fabulous fifties style fashion and the party directed the spotlight on some wonderful local businesses and brands including Nosh Gourmet, RedSpoon, Bettenay’s Margaret River Nougat Co. YB2
Nosh Gourmet, RedSpoon and Bettenay's Margaret River Nougat Co looked after the sweet side of things. Nosh Gourmet had a range of their products including their delicious raw chocolates. RedSpoon served scoops of their incredible frozen yoghurt – the raspberry flavour was a crowd pleaser! Bettenany’s Margaret River Nougat Co had a collection spanning from classic to current, with flavours like pistachio and cranberry and salted caramel. YB3
Our hosts, The Boulevard Hotel romanced us with delicious creations including oysters, arancini, mini burgers and more. YB4
Thirsts were quenched on the balmy evening by delightful creations from Vinaceous Wines, Howard Park Wines, Kirin Cider and James Squire's Ales. It was so interesting to hear about each winery and brewery’s production process, and also about the new additions to their ranges – just in time for summer. Heading inside guests experienced the 1950s star treatment, with a gorgeous makeover from Huss Hair & Beauty. YB5
In hot demand, there was a long line for the glamour photography sessions with Red Leopard Photography. Many longing gazes were cast over Miss La La Vintage’s range of original gowns and accessories from the era on display for the event. YB7
The dance floor was full of twirling, and full skirts whirling with band, Alvin Young & The Shooting Stars playing rocking dance hits of the day. Yelpers took instruction from Cool Cats Rock 'N' Roll and learnt some steps for the songs of yesteryear. Sugar Blue Burlesque gave two tantalizing jaw-dropping performances throughout the crowd.YB8
The Film & Television Institute of WA gave advice for those looking to continue their film career beyond the evening.
We had an amazing night shake rattle and rolling with you! Thank you to all the guests for coming. A special thank you to all the businesses involved and an even bigger thank you to the The Boulevard Hotel for providing a selection of their unbelievably tasty meals, and also their stunning venue for the evening.
Yelp's So Kitschy! Fort Worth Elite Picnic @ The Lunch Box
Posted by Kendall
On Sunday, November 17th, Fort Worth Yelp Elites spent a beautiful afternoon at The Lunch Box - a Fort Worth favorite that's been serving locals since 1974. The kitschy furniture, bright green and yellow decor, and open patio made for a sunny and cheerful atmosphere; the perfect place to spend a Sunday with friends!
Collage1
Hashem D describes the fantastic lunch fare we were so grateful to receive: "an assortment of sandwiches – pimento cheese, egg salad, chicken salad, tuna salad, ham/cheese/avocado club, and Rueben's. Fantastic, all of them!" Plus, "delicious fruit salad" and "four mouth-wateringly good pies – chocolate silk, lemon, coconut, and the phenomenal peanut butter." Damon B was a huge fan of the pimento cheese: "Homemade and delicious. I want the recipe." And that gorgeous Spinach Salad? A "solid 5 stars!"
Colalge2
The event was topped off with some ever-incredible Deep Eddy Vodka! A make-your-own Bloody Mary bar and never-ending pitchers of screwdrivers guaranteed that Yelpers didn't leave thirsty, and The Lunch Box provided fresh mimosas for a little bubbly beverage fun. Tim L gives a "special shout out to Deep Eddy for supplying the beverages and the awesome collector mason jars." That's right, each Yelper left with a sweet Deep Eddy souvenir.
Collage3
Allison V notes that The Lunch Box's "amazingly friendly" staff made sure everyone was well taken care of. The restaurant's owner, Imran, greeted each guest and told the history of the "cozy and inviting" Lunch Box. It was a sensational Sunday of classic sandwiches, desserts, cocktails, and conversation!
Collage4
Be sure to look over the fantastic reviews and photos of this awesome Elite event. Thanks again to The Lunch Box, Deep Eddy Vodka, and all the wonderful Yelp Elites who made it a success.
Buffalo Elites Get Their Juice On @ Ashkers Juice Bar!
Posted by Alex L
I dare you to find a juice bar more collaborative, community minded and reasonably priced than Ashkers on Elmwood. With healthy wraps, sandwiches and breakfast served all day long, you're also able to enjoy healthy freshly-squeezed juices for $3.99. The space exudes warmth, friendliness and radiates a certain homeyness. With an in-house chiropractor (Dr. Mark) and a School of Music, as well as conference room that patrons are able to reserve free of charge; there's plenty of reasons to find yourself at Ashkers...not the least of which may have been the latest Elite Event (if you were lucky)...'Tis The Squeeze-On To Be Yelpy!
Collage1(2)
Yelp Elites were treated to "beautifully arranged fruit platters, a huge green salad, a garbanzo bean one, cut veggies and herb dip, generously portioned sandwich wraps, fair trade coffee, and fruit-infused chilled water." Let's not forget those delicious dessert scones and garlic knots, Karen M! As the evening went on, Elites were able to get complimentary massages courtesy of Dr. Mark, enjoy the photo booth we had set up and try the unveiling of the brand new juice bar concept, where guests could pick out their own fresh fruits and veggies for a DIY-juicing session. All the while, light piano music was lively played by a talented Ashkers employee.
Collage3(2)
 Elites loved it:
"A totally healthy kick".  Great company, great food, great music.... and a focus on healthy living. The food was fantastic... I've been to "Askher's" in the past and loved it, but now have a new appreciation of the place after hearing the owner, Angelo, talk about his vision for making it a community space for healthy living.... mind body, and spirit. WONDERFUL!" -Jody G
"Angelo and the Ashkers crew rolled out the red carpet for this event. We were treated to a make your own juice bar, lots of wonderful food tastings, the option of a short chiro session, trivia, live music and even an impromptu surprise 60th birthday celebration (for Angelo's mother)." -Kristin H
"Everything I had was amazing!  The garlic knots, garbanzo bean salad, chocolate chip scones, and our very own fruit/veggie juice concoction we were able to create was the best part of the event.  Wasn't aware how much fruit and veggies go into one of those drinks until you actually put it together yourself." -Steve W
Their creativity and fun-minded spirit shines through everyday with fun promotions like: "Get a free juice if you bring in a parking ticket from the city of Buffalo on the same day you get it." As Mark S so eloquently put it: "When a community comes out to support a business, that's great. When a business supports a community, that's amazing which is just what Ashker's has done. Not only is this a wonderful juice bar with a delicious menu but it also serves the community in many other ways. It's an art venue, a music venue, a physical health venue, a conference center of sorts and putting it all together is a friendly, outgoing family."
Before the night was over, lucky Elites winners 2 VIP tickets to Mass Appeal, a $10 gift card to Gelateria Luca, a week long juice cleanse, a complimentary session with Dr. Mark and even a free music lesson. Everyone who checked in left with a Yelp tote!
Huge thanks to Angelo, Sarah, the entire staff at Ashker's and all the Yelp Elites who made it for the fun evening! Last but not least, Paul F...for the wonderful photographs (like his page on FB here).
Yelp Gets Saucy at Wing It On!
Posted by Emily
What goes better with Monday Night Football than platters of savory, saucy chicken wings? Nothing – and nobody knows this better than Wing It On! On Monday night, Yelp Elites made their way to Wing It On! in Oakville for an evening of delicious wings, wraps and sides, along with beer samplings from Wolcott-based Shebeen Brewing and sweet treats from Como Bakery.
Wio1
After tasting a lineup of “BBQ Cheddar, Asian Garlic, and Shogun” (a teriyaki and Asian blend) wings, Paul P realized “These are high quality, meaty wings that can hang with the best of the best in the state.  The reason?  Everything is made fresh in-house.” Plus, “The fact that there were roughly 8-10 different flavors to sample was very impressive.” Eric H “really enjoyed their Buffalo mac and cheese which had a well balanced richness and creaminess that complimented the thick chunks of blue cheese perfectly.”
Wio2
Beyond trays of fried pickles, fried jalapenos, and wraps galore, Madeleine L found that her top dish "of the night was the hamburger wrap” stuffed with angus beef, bacon, fried peppers, melted cheese and more. Dan R was also impressed that “Wolcott's popular Shebeen Brewery was there with samples of their brews.” Beyond the kona-bacon stout, Madeleine L writes, “My favorite was the pineapple, which was just a nice crisp beer with a tinge of fruity flavor. The cannoli beer was also really delicious, and served with powdered sugar and chocolate!” Not your average brew!
Wio3
To end on a sweet note, Eric A writes, “let us not forget the folks from Como Bakery, who clearly love what they do, and it sure does taste like it. The olive focaccia was rich with that thin crispy outer crust, and the pie blended tart apple with the sugar and cinnamon, crowned with a very nice piecrust.”
Wio4
Thank you to the team at Wing It On!, Shebeen Brewing and Como Bakery for hosting an amazing Yelp Elite event. Take a look at the photos from Nick Caito, check out the stellar reviews here, and don’t forget to follow Yelp Hartford on Twitter and Facebook!
See you on Yelp,
NC Triad Elites Pair It Up @ Haute Chocolate!
Posted by Holly
Do you know what types of beer and wine go with flavor profiles in chocolate? Well, the Elites in the NC Triad sure do now! Yelp Elite's gathered at Haute Chocolate in the West End of Winston-Salem for the Triad's first ever Elite Event— Yelp's Sweet Pairings @ Haute Chocolate. We sampled some delicious truffles and paired them with wine and beer (thank you Foothills) to get our taste buds tingling, played a fun game of Yelp-O, and got to know fellow Elites and +1's!
Haute Chocolate One
Ronda C had "lots of fun drinking while tasting the exotic chocolates made by Jiliana, the owner of Haute Chocolate, and learning the mechanics behind those tasty chocolates. The delicious bonus was to hear a local business owner explain why her heart and soul is in every bite." I'm sure we all want another taste of those pomegranate molasses truffles, blood orange truffles, and People's Porter treats!
Haute Chocolate Two
This gold studded event would not have been complete without a fun activity to get Elites mingling! "On top of all the chocolate and wine we got to learn all about our fellow Yelpers with YELP-O including the sweet moves that Holly B. has!" I couldn't agree more Andrea P! Who wants to show me their tattoo again?
Haute chocolate 5
To remember the first ever Triad Elite Event a take home goodie that could be used throughout the event was definitely in order! "To get things flowing there were Yelp glasses, yours for the mere price of a check-in, and then you could keep them filled with wine and brew (or water, but really - who wants water when you're pairing with chocolates?)." Very good point Chad E!
Haute Choc 4
Big thanks to Haute Chocolate for treating us for the evening, to Foothills Brewing for ensuring we had plenty of People's Porter, and Adam Carney Photography for capturing amazing shots all night. And of course thank you to the Elites and their guests for making the first ever Triad Elite Event a wonderful evening!
Whether or not you made it out be sure to check out the reviews of the event and the photos!
Until next time my friends, SYOY!
Yelp Glasgow's Innis & Gunn Tasting Extravaganza @ Bier Halle!
Posted by Briony C
On a pure baltic Tuesday night, 25 Yelp Elites (and a few +1s) descended into the cosy depths of Bier Halle! Yelpers were to be treated to an exclusive Innis & Gunn beer tasting followed by Bier Halle's famous pizza. What a winning combination!
Yelp fb cover
First up was the beer tasting. Innis & Gunn graciously provided a myriad of beers to try – Innis & Gunn Original, Rum Finish, Toasted Oak IPA and the very special Canadian Cherrywood Finish! Our tasting was led by the dashing Rich and lovely Lindsay from Innis & Gunn who told us the history of the brand as well as some tasting tips. Sara T loved that Rich asked that Yelpers 'to get in contact if we find any good food pairings for Innis & Gunn ... which has now become an idea for the Drunchblog!'.
Ig collage 1
The beers were sipped and the Yelpers were delighted! 'Innis and Gunn put on a great tasting with and excellent story about the development of the brand. Any historical narrative that includes booze being hauled away in Irn-Bru bottles is one to re-tell' raved Andrew C.
Trudie M's 'personal favourite was the IPA and the Cherrywood both real nice beers that I had never tasted before!
Ig collage 2
Harry L says it was 'informative and fun! The night started out with 4 different beers – good variety, background and history of both the beers and the Innis and Gunn company!'
Ig collage 3
Then it was time for pizza. Oh, the pizza! Austen M loved the 'hosin duck! I will be be going back for it very soon. Also really enjoyed the pastrami and mustard & the chorizo!' Joseph P loved that he was able to 'try a few different pizzas as I usually can't see past the Spicy Merguez Sausage pizza (tastes like fancy donner kebab!)'.
Ig collage 4
On Angela B's table they tried 'the Margherita, Red Chilli & some type of sausage/meat and also a Meatball one. Every single one was gorgeous ~ thin, light base with just the right amount of topping, yum!'
Ig collage 5
Trudie M raves about the 'hoi sin duck – WOW! I would never have ordered this, but I has change pizza for life. Amazing. Next the Pastrami, this is like a hot dog on a pizza...epic!'
Ig collage 6
Finally came the photobooth antics – props and wooden letters galore. Some spelling issues were encountered, as well as Charlie's Angel style posing. All in all, a great way to top off an excellent night at Bier Halle with Innis & Gunn!
You can read all the reviews on Yelp, the photos are up on Facebook and Flickr and you can find me on Yelp!
A huge thank you to Innis & Gunn for putting on such a wonderful beer tasting – Rich, Lindsay and Leila! Also thanks to Bier Halle for hosting the event as well as treating us to your tasty pizza selection! All the photos were snapped by the amazing Alasdair Watson Photography
Yelp SF Elite Exclusive Preview of Sabrosa
Before the paint was dry, Sabrosa gave the SF Elite Squad the very first night of service at the new bar & restaurant in the Marina.
A complimentary evening to taste the menu from Chef Jose Ramos, along with Espolon Tequila cocktails, Elites raised money for the local non profit, La Cocina, supporting food entrepeneurs from around the world.
"Along with the some amazing tequila cocktails, my favorite was for sure the Pepino Diablo with serrano chili (the perfect kick for a cool evening), the Mayan spiced ribeye with mashed plantain and a roasted brussel sprout. It was perfectly seared and rare on the inside and incredibly flavorful." Dorothy Y.
A word from Jose Ramos: "At Sabrosa, different from my menus at Nopalito and Nido, I really wanted honor the varied recipes of my family, and my experience growing up on our farm in Guanajuato, Mexico. It was there that I developed a deep appreciation for the land and the importance of farm-fresh ingredients. My mother and grandmother taught me how to cook using these ingredients in recipes that have been in our family for generations. My menu at Sabrosa represents this part of my personal history, my Mexican heritage, and our culture built around food." - explains Jose Ramos.
Five star reviews here. Five star photos here. More on the Elite Squad here.
Sabrosa is now open for business.
Yelp's A (Wine) Affair To Remember
Posted by Ben B.
Last night opulent One Moncur Wine Bar hosted 120 Yelpers at a celebration of Australian wine and spirits that kicked on long into the evening. Dressed to the nines, guests arrived at leafy Woollahra in style thanks to Uber’s fleet of schmick black cars.
Collage1
Proceedings kicked off with cocktails courtesy of two sensational Australian spirit brands: The West Winds “The Cutlass” Gin out of Gidgegannup in WA, and 666 Pure Tasmanian Vodka. G&T’s were poured long and strong – “because it’s called a gin & tonic, not a tonic & gin” – and were complemented by Kate Moss’ favourite tipple, the espresso martini.
Collage 2
Led by head sommelier Gustavo Kroneis, One Moncur’s crack team took the floor and charmed the pants off the crowd with their service and panache, bringing out three cracking local wines paired with matching canapés.
Collage 3
First off was the white: the Tellurian Marsanne 2012 matched with spanakopita fried tortilla, followed by a delightful Krinklewood Francesca Rosé 2013 with olive oil poached tuna and truffle cream on croute.
Collage 4
The coupe de grace was a sumptuous Barossa red, the Tscharke “Matching Socks” Touriga 2012 paired with beef cheek sliders and slaw. A combination of the decadent surrounds and a veritable carnival of vino had Yelpers legs wobbling in the best possible way.
Collage 5
Yeah, we went way over time, but who cares when you’re having this much fun? Come closing time it was back into the Ubers armed with vouchers for a complimentary glass of wine for round two at this wonderful wine bar. What. A. Night.
Until next time, SYOY (See You On Yelp!)
PDXYelp Elites Raise The Bar @ Barre3! A Yelp Fitness Event
Posted by Don Bourassa
Being a member of the Portland Yelp Community is not just about eating, drinking and writing about it. Sometimes we need to sweat things out a little bit, and get a little closer from the whole experience. And that's what happened at our second Yelp Elite Event at Barre3: PDXYelp Raises The Bar
Collage1
On Tuesday, November 19th, 2013 16 of Portland's finest gathered at the Lake Oswego studio of the home-grown fitness craze Barre3. This discipline combines dynamic movement and isometric holds with a fun, upbeat environment to create, well, an hour of core-activating, gut-busting, thigh-burning action. Or, as Jessie B puts it, "Basically it's non stop movement that seems deceptively simple that ends in shaking and sweating. It's AWESOME." Unlike crowded, huge group classes, Barre3 workouts are limited in size, and Deb F appreciates this. "The staff was very energetic and welcoming and friendly. Alison, the instructor, kept up a running dialog of what we were doing, and walked among us, making small corrections where needed. I like it when instructors do this, as it shows they're paying attention, and that they are helping us get the most out of the workout, safely." Well, if our sore quads are telling us anything this morning, it was definitely engaging... in more ways than one. After class, Barre3 treated Yelpers to cold-pressed juices from local juice-monger Greenleaf! And attendees got to take home rad swag bags filled with Barre3 tumblers, class cards, VitaCoco coconut waters, DRY Sodas and more.
Huge thanks go out to our friends at Barre3 for helping us stay fit amongst all the eating and drinking eventsl; our generous partners VitaCoco and DRY Soda; and of course the Yelp Elite Squad, without whom this would not be possible.
Check out the reveiws and make sure to add your own.
Until next time, keep that transverse abdominis flexed!
Really, there's no bad time to experience this new contemporary restaurant in the heart of Curry Hill that delivers an impeccable taste of Thai Fusion with a blend of South Asian Spices.Chal collage 1Ayesha (restaurant owner) describes her restaurant as "a culmination of her Eastern heritage and her Western lifestyle in the form of taste and class." To complete her vision, she consulted with Fatima Ali--a winner of Chopped on Food Network. Kansas City Elites Celebrate Yelpsgiving at Providence
Posted by Matt
Sure, the original Thanksgiving may featured quite the impressive bounty of curds and porridge, but Yelpsgiving had kneehigh socks and hats shaped like pie! I think we know which one will be remembered longer.
Crowdcollage
By all accounts, The First Yelpsgiving was a resounding success. As our host, Providence at the Hilton President opened their doors to the Yelp Elites and their guests for an evening of education and libations. Chef Eric Carter was on hand to school the guests on Providence's "nose to tail" philosophy. Demonstrating this commitment, he served up a whole roasted suckling pig, even offering up the brains to Yelp's most adventurous epicurians. Lamb sliders, BBQ pork belly and salmon on crustini rounded out the hors d'oeuvres, and a dessert tray loaded with carrot cake and macaroons kept the sweet tooth satisfied.
Food collage
Next up was local bartender and cocktail expert Brock Schulte, educating Elites on how to properly imbibe during the holidays, and schooling his pupils on the benefits of barrel aging. Meanwhile, servers kept guests' whistles wet with never-ending trays of beer and wine, plus four specialty cocktails! Favorites included Sassy's Champagne Cocktail, Ford's Bramble Tonic and of course barrel-aged Manhattans.
Photo booth collage
But what's an Elite Event without some Yelpy extras? Our friends at Frameless Photography were on hand to capture Yelper's 'family portraits'. Complete with turkey and pie-shaped hats, Elites mugged for the camera while holding up signs saying what they had to be thankful for. And to share the wealth, guests participated in a canned food raffle for reStart, helping to make the holidays a little better for the less-fortunate. To sweeten the pot, Hilton President graciously offered prize packages for winners and two lucky Yelpers will enjoying complimentary evenings at Providence thanks to their generous donations. All together, we were able to collect hundreds of units of food, feeding dozens of families in the KC metro.
In the spirit of the holiday, I want to extend some thanks not only to our participating businesses, but also to the Yelp KC Elite Squad. You all have created such a fantastic community that I am immensely proud to be called its Manager.
Happy RALBirthday Yelp Milano
Posted by Claudia R
Yelp Milano ha compiuto ufficialmente due anni lo scorso 14 novembre: quale modo migliore per festeggiarlo di uno spumeggiante Evento Elite tutto votato al rosso... e al nero? Ovviamente, in compagnia dei nostri ospiti di RAL8022, un meraviglioso piccolo lounge bar tra il naviglio grande e via Vigevano, che ha presentato la stessa sera la sua nuova ala, dedicata ai piccoli designer artigianali milanesi, quelli che nessuno vuole perdere nell'ombra.
Ral1_original
Jenny N e Paco, padroni di casa insieme a Edoardo e Loris, i due barman, hanno fatto scorrere alcol a fiumi, offrendo prima il cocktail di benvenuto Yelp, studiato appositamente per la serata, e poi un cocktail a scelta dalla lista del locale. Per frenare l'ubriachezza, degustazione libera dei Club Sandwich e delle focacce del menù del RAL. Questo per arrivare un minimo consapevoli al taglio della torta di compleanno, ovviamente, magistralmente preparata da Paola R!
Ral2_original
Ma non finisce qui! Certo che no, perchè insieme al mitico Paco avevamo preparato una sorpresa per tutti gli Yelper, un oggetto unico e inimitabile, un ricordo speciale della serata: la possibilità di serigrafare la propria maglietta direttamente sul posto, in tanti colori, proprio come si voleva. Ovviamente, protetti dagli impermeabili da SuperYelper!
Ral3_original
Descriverlo non basta, ci sareste dovuti essere, però per tutti voi che lo avete perso abbiamo da parte qualche chicca: lo speciale set fotografico della serata e le entusiastiche recensioni. E non perdete il prossimo!
Pre-Fiesta #yEBElp @ Diablito, la guinda al fin de semana del #EBE13
Posted by Txema
Sevilla se puso tecnológica durante el pasado fin de semana. Una nueva edición de EBE reunió en nuestra ciudad a las figuras más importantes y relevantes de la blogosfera, las redes sociales, la creación web y, en general, a casi 3.000 personas con una pasión común: Internet.
Biab1
Yelp ha sido patrocinador del evento, la gran cita social de habla hispana, y de entre muchas de las actividades y acciones de márketing realizados en propio recinto destacó, por encima todas, la Pre-Fiesta que se dio lugar el sábado por la noche en Diablito, situado en la céntrica Alameda de Hércules.
Allí se dieron cita más de 70 personas, muchos de ellos Élites no solo de Sevilla sino de toda España. La pre-fiesta se desarrolló fantásticamente y la gente disfrutó de las delicias de la cocina de Diablito, que sacó nachos y pizzas artesanas para todos. Además, se contó con la colaboración de Delicius Gastrocopas que vino a poner Gin-Tonics gracias al apoyo de Vones Gin, una de las sensaciones de la noche. También destacó la participación de Lupulópolis, una tienda de cervezas artesanas españolas que nos invitó a descubrir su favorita: la Domus.
Diab2
Por si fuera poco, también estuvieron presentes las tartas de SuitCake, que sorprendieron a todos los que alcanzaron a probar alguno de los pedazos que se sirvieron. Por último, las jóvenes Louie-Louie pusieron el toque florar a la fiesta con unas diademas preciosas que fueron la sensación de la noche.
Diversión, risa, buen ambiente, productos locales de primera calidad y unos asistentes envidiables hicieron que todo el trabajo, los imprevistos, el esfuerzo y el sacrificio mereciesen absolutamente la pena. Como siempre :)
CLE Yelpers Get Nauti By Nature @ The Greater Cleveland Aquarium!
Posted by Cara
Ahoy, Mateys! Just sit right there and hear a tale. Yelpers from all over NE Ohio flooded the Greater Cleveland Aquarium this past Thursday evening for a night of sipping, sampling and... mermaid burlesque? Take a deep breath and dive into all the fun aboard Yelp CLE's Nauti By Nature bash!
NauitCollage1.jpg
Nearly 600 Yelpers swam through the nooks and crannies of the Aquarium, including the touch exhibits, all to the tunes of DJ MisterBradleyP. "A quick touch of the tortoises, and of course, petting the stingrays to the tunes of the DJ—amazing times!" squeals Jess F
NautiCollage5
Bubbling-up throughout the venue were food and drink venues galore! Yelpers never hungered thanks to treats courtesy of Chutney Roll, Drink. Bar & Grill, KB Confections, Kind Snacks, Lago, Market District (Solon), Mason's Creamery and Town Hall. "One huge fish was very interested in my cake---fortunately, too good to share," gushed Vic W. Thirsty guests headed over to Lexington Brewing Co. for Kentucky Bourbon Ales, while Oliver Winery served up their honey wines  and DRY Soda kept our tastebuds swimming.
NautiCollage2
It wasn't all food and booze, folks! Upon entering the event, Yelpers dove into a treasure trove of beauty treatments. Love Threading Bar made sure all brows were up to par, while Botson Body Painting showed off her artistic skills on a mermaid in pasties and a bunch of lucky sea creat... err guests. And for those needing a little pampering, Brown Institute offered hand-arm massages, beautious updos and make-up re-touches.
NautiCollage6
The fin-tastic times didn't stop there! How about the caricatures by Over The Line Productions, balloon animals by Twist & Turn Balloons and the readings right in front of the shark tank, thanks to Tarot By Lisala? [Cue Jaws theme music now] And no one left feeling left out of the latest and greatest trends, thanks to our fashion "dolls" modeling the looks of Haven Style House and Re/Dress.
NautiCollage3
Let's not forget to mention the Lefemme Mystique's Burlesque Varia-Tease acts that kept us cheering for more! Drag MC Sonshine La Ray introduced us to the nauti nautical acts of Bella Sin, Ava Adore, Fantasie D'Light, belly-dancing by Eliza Sidecar, puppetry by Nate Puppets and live magic by Mirth.
NautiCollage7
And how about more free stuff?! This event was stuffed to the gills with raffles and schwag. Ambiance Store For Lovers raffled off three gift baskets, plus lots of nauti freebies for all. So much, in fact, that Yelper P.W. admitted, "I came for the fish. I stayed for the lube." Many Yelpers have a free date night coming, thanks to the complimentary movies passes from The Owens Group and let's not forget Yelpers entered to win tickets to the one of the biggest holiday events of 2013, Winter Wine & Ale Fest
NautiCollage4
If the lapping waves of fine tunes, local food and cool, cool beverages weren't enough, Magnolia Photo Booth Co. snapped all sorts of submerged smiles while photographer Fernando Lopez roamed the party, capturing your underwater antics. Check out the Magbooth shots HERE and the party shots HERE.
NautiCollage8
Last but not least, although Nauti By Nature was overflowing with free fun, a suggested donated of $5 was suggested to benefit the local non-profit, Drink Local. Drink Tap. We raised $770 for their mission of helping keep water clean in Cleveland and providing clean drinking water to those in need around the world.
Check the awesome event reviews HERE or share your own thoughts if you haven't yet!
And thanks to the hardworking staff at The Greater Cleveland Aquarium, Windows On The River, all our awesome vendors and, of course, this insanely fantastic Yelp Cleveland Community!
See You On Yelp (and at the next one!)
Brooklyn Yelp Adores Atrium
Posted by peter d.
C1
Have you been to Atrium Dumbo yet? If not, you are seriously missing out, because I'm willing to bet that even if your apartment boasts two elegant levels (mine certainly doesn't), you don't also have a live wall of plants, an incredible open kitchen with Chef Laurent Kalkotour turning out stunning food, and the best bar staff in existence turning out quality cocktails in the blink of an eye.
C2
Last night, the best of Brooklyn Yelp headed over for an exclusive evening in the absolutely amazing new space, and Atrium Dumbo did not disappoint. Matteo R's first impression was, "WOW! This place is absolutely gorgeous! With a dining room is split on two floors, industrial lights hanging from the high ceiling, a wall of potted plants, and an exposed kitchen that takes center stage, Atrium is certainly designed to impress. Modern, sleek, and yet unpretentious."
C3
From the moment folks strode through the door, it was as charming an evening as anyone could ask for. As Briana H can attest, "The wait staff treated us like royalty, and the bar staff churned out delightful cocktails."  Four Roses Bourbon is celebrating their 125th anniversary, and they teamed up with Joe and Vince behind the bar and impeccably executed both classic libations and their own creations that reflect co-owner Alexander LaPratt's stellar bar program.
C4
But it's not all about the alcohol around here (although some may claim otherwise). Allow Mea H to talk about food for a minute: "Those teeny cucumber cups filled with tuna tartare, the smoked duck breast with sour apple spread, three varieties of deviled eggs: fried pepper, avocado bacon, salmon - delicious, delicious. Beautifully balanced, well assembled." For Curtis J though, it was all about the sweet summation: "The kicker of them all was this chocolatey/butterschotchy/something-elsey cold cheesecakey bite. WOW, that was an amazing treat. To quote Ken Griffey Jr. when he was on The Simpsons - "...it's like there's a party in my mouth, and everyone's invited!" Laurent is on another level in that open kitchen, and it's a pleasure to watch him work, let alone taste the results. How can marrow ravioli and escargot be bad?
Basically, Atrium knows how to throw a helluva partya huge thanks to Alexander, Leslie, Laurent, Joe, Vince and the rest of the staff for welcoming us in and showing us the best time anyone can ever have on a Monday! As Josephine Z says, this is "the sophisticated side of DUMBO. I must say that Atrium has won me over. You will definitely see me again!" I'll also be back soon for brunch, dinner, and if there was any way I could possibly swing it, I know I'd be there for there Thanksgiving prix fixe!
Yelp Manchester's Meet the CM Event @ Simple
Posted by Jonny Quirk
Do you like the idea of great food and great wine in one of Manchester's coolest venues? The Manchester Yelpers did! 26 Yelpers came down to the recently taken over bar and restaurant 'Simple' in the Northern Quarter for a fine preview and selection of their tempting and tasty new Christmas menu!
As our Manchester Yelper Michael B pointed out "It had been quite a while since I last went to Simple, and I didn't realise it had new management" so it was the perfect time for Bradlie and the Simple team to treat us to some great hospitality and even better food to really show off what the new Simple has to offer!
Starting off our evening with a selection of rum cocktails from the bar, our Yelpers were introduced to each other by myself and the amazing visiting Glasgow CM Briony C, before making their way to our table area to grab their seats and enjoy a goody bag of Yelp treats.
What followed was an absolute treat for the tastebuds as we were given a selection of starters that consisted of peppers with goats cheese, my personal fave - the king prawns and couscous and as Jessica H declared " the stand out starter was the beef, and we made sure to let them know!"
Following this we enjoyed their Christmas roast where we sampled some "first of the season" turkey, pork (great crackling) and a nice bit of Marlin which was as juicy as any a steak I've had recently.
And then it was time for dessert, oh wow! I think Rana M summed it up fully by saying "A slice of Chocolate tart w/ice cream and cherry drizzle went down a treat. Other hits in this department included the Cheesecake w/white choc & Kahlua topping"
After a quick thanks for coming speech and a good chat with everyone about our future plans for the Manchester community, it was time for one last drink at the bar before heading into the cold Manchester night.
And after loads of planning and making sure it all went without a hitch, it was all over. It was great though to already start getting loads of messages of good wishes and thanks for a good night out before bed time!
Put it this way, I'm definitely not planning on letting Lee Z down "it would appear that normal service is resuming in the world of Manc Yelpdom. I don't think Jonny could've got off to a better start, hit the ground running as someone probably said once" - So thanks Lee Z, thanks Bradlie and all the amazing staff at Simple and thanks to everyone else who came down last night. I'm already looking forward to the next Elite and CM events!
Please share your enjoyment of the event here, check out the photos here, find Simple on Twitter, and join the chit-chat!
Catch you on the flip side
