Tucson Elites Experience Local Cuisine At Proper
Tucson Elites live the vida local, and it doesn't get more local than new downtown hot spot, Proper. Twenty lucky Elite were treated to a dazzling six course dinner with wine pairings inspired by regional flavors and sustainably sourced ingredients. "Yelpers were treated like proper royalty," exclaims Kathy N. "The food was abundant and amazing."
Elites were greeted with a refreshing cocktail to whet their whistles and get the conversation started. "Starting off with the super refreshing Garden Party cocktail (Tequila, Mint, Cucumber, Citrus, Peach Bitters) was perfect for mingling with a bunch of Yelpers I hadn't met before. I loved the thinly sliced cucumber that lined the glass– a very nice touch!" Tera B. Each place setting was adorned with custom menus, fresh flowers, candles and plenty of glassware for the impending wine pairings.
The six course feast began with a charcuterie board (duck rillette, rabbit terrine, Ibercio Saucisson Sec pickled vegetables, Lavosh) and assorted cheeses (local goat, cheddar, bleu, and more) paired with the Proper White Viognier). The boards were so generous, they stayed table side through the second course: Kale Salad with garlic parmesan vinaigrette, golden raisins and farro. Course three: Prop Prop Wings (Sweet & Spicy) and Pork Belly Sliders (Ancho aioli, house-made pickles, butter lettuce, mustard) were perfectly paired with The Proper Red Cinsault. Course four: Ricotta Gnocchi (oyster mushrooms, arugula and parmesan) and Sweet Corn Risotto with fried sage. Course five: Seared ahi tuna served over a coconut fume and sauteed broccoli. And how do you top five courses of savory deliciousness? With course number six: Ganache chocolate-chili tart with vanilla ice cream paired with a Chai Latte.
This was nothing short of a five-star experience. Yelper, Tera B, sums up the evening perfectly: "The whole evening the staff went above and beyond what I could have ever expected. I was especially impressed with their attentiveness and attention to detail but more so their passion for the food at their restaurant. You would think each member of the staff was a part owner because they really stood behind the food and seemed proud of the local and fresh ingredients they source."
