Richmond Elites Go Cruisin' For Cuban @ Havana 59

Posted by Jamie

Richmond Elites were transported to the tropics on Wednesday evening, as Havana 59 welcomed us into their incredible second-story event space. An unparalleled covered patio accented with greenery and an interior bursting with hints of Cuba set the stage for Yelp's Cruisin' For Cuban Elite Event. The evening was truly magical and the venue made us forget we were in Shockoe Bottom! "Even in the rain, Havana's patio is one of the best al fresco options this city has to offer," gushes Navia G. "You really do feel like you're in Latin America for a bit."

Having unveiled a new fall menu on October 1, Havana 59 spoiled us with a sampling of recently debuted creations and classic favorites. From chicken and garbanzo chili with pepperjack cheese and avocado to red ahi tuna with chipotle guava reduction, pickled carrots, and green beans over cilantro quinoa to tres leches cake with strawberry coulis, the palate pleasing bites elicited rave reviews. Leah S went crazy for the "grilled pork tenderloin with kale-leek puree, lima bean succotash, drunken goat cheese polenta cake, and Serrano ham crisp. This was a wonderful combination… all melding together" for a "well-rounded flavor profile." Sandra M absolutely loves "that they make everything from scratch here!" Ditto.

But the fun didn't stop with the food! Elites also sipped sangria and reveled in some of Havana's classic cocktails. For Sarah S, it was all about the mint and lime: "I cannot recommend the mojitos enough. So excellent." Meanwhile, a photobooth provided endless laughs and prompted guests to make new friends while posing for their glamour shots. Sonia P's already planning her return visit for Thursday night salsa: "Next time I'm here, I'll be wearing my salsa shoes."

A huge thank you to Mark and the entire Havana 59 staff for hosting such an unforgettable evening! And a shout out to photographer extraordinaire Sara Clarken for snapping stellar shots all night. And thank YOU, Elites, for coming out and cruisin' with us. Want more? Peep the photos and check out the reviews!

Until next time, SYOY,
