Yelp Miami Takes The Field
Miami Gardens may be near the edge of the county line but it’s smack dab in the middle of the collective consciousness of every Miamian. Sun Life Stadium’s the place for soccer, cycling, community events, and, oh yeah, football. Yelp’s Amazing August continued from the club level to the practice field to the awesome seats as a choice selection of the Yelp Miami Elite Squad got the chance to tackle some Saturday night lights of their own.
The VIP experience began with a trip to the nerve center of Dolphins operations — the corporate offices. There, excited Elites got a chance to look at rare photos, get an understanding of the whys and hows of the operation and meet Dolphins great Nat Moore. Stars in their eyes, they then headed to Duffy’s Hall of Champions to gain an eagle eye view of the field and take in the wide-open space. The Gallery of Legends lived up to its name but it was the Orange Bowl memorabilia on the Club level that sent Floridian hearts racing.
It wouldn’t be a Miami stadium without a club, so the tour next ventured into its version of Miami Beach icon LIV! Househeads were excited to realize that the two spaces (and some staff) were identical. The tour explored more pieces of iconic Miami with in-depth examinations of the stadiums’ own pieces of Garcia’s, Anthony’s and Castronovo. Rounding things out was a trip to the Ford Sideline Club and Cheerleader facility… so we thought. Attentive Elites who were able to answer questions from the tour were picked to go out on the field and enjoy warm-up with the Dolphins. That’s right. Up until a half hour before kickoff, Elites took photos with cheerleaders, cozied up with TD and saw up close and personal their favorite players (and just how huge those favorite players are).
But it wouldn’t be an Elite event without food. Yelpers got to enjoy all the standards of football game gastronomy: hot dogs, soda, nachos, popcorn, peanuts, frozen lemonade, and ice-cold beer. As commonly comforting as the food was, the seats were uncommonly awesome. Smack dab in the middle of section 131 with a clear view of the end zone, Elites had the opportunity to watch the game in style. Don’t believe it? Check out the photos Rodney W took (way to pinch hit, RW!; yes, different sport. We know). Excited Elites wrote their impressions here. The ‘fins might not have pulled out a win but they’ll always be champs in our hearts.
