At The Core: Yelp’s Nexus Night Preview At Joe Bean
The craft of coffee making is a step above the rest at Joe Bean Coffee Roasters. One should not rush this morning ritual for the caffeine in this slow pour cup o' Joe will get you going without a doubt. As the first artisan coffee house in Rochester, they started a trend that caught on quickly.
Our Rochester Elites had the chance to sample what they do best at Yelp’s Nexus Night Preview, in anticipation of its latest fall event series, Nexus Nights: Thursday evenings of beverage and food exploration.
Joe Bean showcased their sustainable fare with coffee, food, beer, and wine stations, which featured a few of their "Good Food Award" partners and artisan-brewing samples like “the Deviant Dale IPA on draft;" Arvid Y’s “favorite drink of the night.”
Owner, Kathy Turiano, spent some quality time with the Elites, which was “the highlight of the night” for James B, who got a deeper look into “their vision for the cafe and the projects they are working on. What a great asset to have in the city of Rochester, someone with a huge spark of creativity willing to make an investment in our city.” Another win, according to Jonathan S, was the “tour of the roasting process and a brief history of how they get the beans from farm to Joe Bean's cups.”
A few of the brewing samples were the Syphon of Sumatra, Aceh from the Permata Gayo Cooperative and the Chemex of Ethiopia, Sidama from the Oromia Cooperative. Brenden N “came to the realization that coffee brewing and drinking is a type of ritual. Watching the two different brewing techniques felt like he was back in chemistry class.”
