The Beach Daygloes Indoors For Boston Elites!

Posted by Damien S

June can be fickle for Boston's coastline. The beaches of Southie draw you to dream of sun & fun, only to deluge to surf with rain, rain, that won't go away. Good thing the great folks at Local 149 know cloudy skies can't quell sandy dreams, inviting 150 Elites to bask in Yelp's Indoor Dayglo Beach Party!

The Southie mainstay sent out nibble after nibble from their recently revamped menu, courtesy of Chef Dave's kitchen. Decked out in board shorts and sun hats, guests snacked on everything from smoked mussels and lamb meatballs with pistachio mint pesto to speck wrapped oysters and a fully cured charcuterie board! Nicole V "could easily go on and on about the mac and cheese bites, pepper poppers, antipasto, tartare..." and she does in her review. Barkeeps kept the cold and frosties coming, topping mugs with Ommegang Witte and Crispin Original cider, wine glasses with Angeline Pinot Noir and Primaterra Pinot Grigio, and Leanne C's bev of choice, "too tasty Moscow Mules" featuring Sair vodka and housemade ginger beer.

And what boardwalk send-up would be complete without a little entertainment? Yelpers donned Local 149 shirts and dollied each other up with paint pens and fabric markers, while The Danger Booth caught all the action (and giant Elite badges) in full, glorious color. Almost-too-real-for-comfort portraits by Ed, The Caricature Guy gave a handful of Elites yet another take-home reminder of how smiley they get after one too many Moscow Mules, and a pair of sweet shades blocked the sockets of checkers-in. Plus, chariot service? "Oh and the Lyft promo code was awesome! Free ride home with a cool British guy" iced Sonia D's cake.

Tatsu captured the love visually here (and on Facebook), and guests-in-attendance penned their love digitally here. There's also a Yelp Talk thread, if you want to, yknow, talk about it. Otherwise, a big zinc oxide-free thank you to all who made the event possible, and to those who braved the cruddy beach weather to hang ten in one of Southie's coolest taverns. Radical!

Is this beach topless?
