There's a Beer Loose On The Ground!
Sure, you've seen plenty of food and wine pairings, but how about replacing the vino with beer? 35 Elites and guests did just that, poshing up a night at Tanjong Katong new kid The Ground with four courses of bar food, paired with tasty craft beers!
Chief Beer Drinker and owner Adriel put us through a crash course in tasting notes and started off the night with a Waldorf salad, and dry, crisp #9 from Magic Hat Breweries - the pronounced apricot notes certainly brought out the sweetness in that salad!
Next up - gourmet sausages, anyone? The Italian-herbed morsels were paired with the interestingly-named Circus Boy, also of Magic Hat, with hints of lemongrass.
The mains arrived, and those who scribbled down notes with our custom-made tasters' sheet will remember that the Chiron's malty, bitter finish went a long way to put out the fires of The Ground's super-spicy Burning Ground pizza! The creamy carbonara that came after was also a welcome relief, together with the crowd favourite Delirious Tremens.
Adriel suprised us all art the end with a tasting of some Ground-exlusive Crabbie's Original Alcoholic Ginger Beer to close up the night! Steeped in real ginger for 8 weeks to produce its deep, deliciously spicy flavour, this sweet treat sent us all home with a real warmth in our (beer) bellies!
