Birmingham Elites Re-invent The Cocktail At The Victoria

Posted by Rickie

It didn't take much for Birmingham Elites to say 'yes' when asked if they wanted to go to a cocktail masterclass at The Victoria.

A perfect way to spend a Sunday afternoon, the Elites trekked upstairs to the secret room (otherwise known as the events space) where a fully decked out cocktail bar awaited them. The Victoria's Jacob and Simon then went on to host a fun and informative afternoon.

Elites were told that when using rum, keep lime close at hand, with gin, its lemon and to get everything needed laid out before they start making the drink. There were also many secrets of the trade divulged including what ingredients work, how to really taste with a straw and why the professionals never spill when they're shaking! For those tips, you will have to ask Simon or Jacob when you visit The Victoria!

The Elite squad designed and made their own drinks including Ad T's Fruit Tree, Ben C with the CMYK, Caroline B's Sweet Caroline and Tim W's new take on the 'Old Fashioned, The Orange Devil. The last one, a cream based dessert drink by Rickie J was named by Ad T as Rickie's Creme de la Creme.

Jacob revealed one of the most poular drinks at the Vic is the Sherbertini although his favourite is the classic Sidecar. And yes, they do get asked to make James Bond's drink occasionally!

Huge thanks to superstar cocktail experts Jacob and Simon and to The Victoria for hosting the Elites for a wonderful event.
