Yelp MKE Dramatics and Antics at the Broadway Theatre Center

We know you've all seen those "Real Actors Read Yelp Reviews" videos. They're hilarious. Everyone thinks so... it's science fact.

So it follows, then, that an event based around the concept of dramatic readings of Yelp reviews would be a fabulous one. Ours happened to be extra fabulous due to our amazing hosts, the Broadway Theatre Center and Bianchini.

Pork tacos al pastor from Coa, plantain chips and guac and Cubano sliders from Cubanitas, and Indulge's chocolate covered strawberries, handmade chocolates, and more made for killer bites, and we washed it all down with complimentary sangria. (Um, yum!)

We mixed, we mingled, we ate and drank, and then? It was showtime: five real life actors reading Yelp Milwaukee reviews (handpicked by yours truly) dramatically, hilariously, and oh-so-awesomely. Then, it was our turn! Elites were able to strut their stuff and take their turn at reading reviews in the dramatic, the bold, and the laugh-out-loud ridiculous. We laughed. We cried, because we were laughing so hard. We clapped. We guffawed, even!

Renassiance Theaterworks, Skylight Music Theatre, and the Milwaukee Chamber Theatre call the Broadway Theatre Center home, and these three companies couldn't have been more gracious hosts. Their shared space is beautiful, and each company brings its unique brand of artistic performace to the Third Ward and the Milwaukee community at large. So great to get to know a bit more about each company, and this gem of a space that lives right in our collective backyard!

Check all of the pics here (and here!) and the reviews here. There's tons of great stuff in store for the Yelp MKE community in 2013, and despite the snowstorm, this was the perfect way to kick off a new year full of events and general Yelpy revelry!

Dramatically yours,

Rachel F – Yelp Milwaukee Community Manager
