PDXYelpers Heat Things Up @ Cheryl's On 12th!
We may be in the midst of the long, cold dark that is Portland winter, but that didn't stop 60 of Portland's elite from sizzling things up at Yelp's Winter Warmer Elite Event on Wednesday, January 30th, 2013 at Cheryl's on 12th!
"Every once in a while a business ups the ante, rewrites the rules and rolls out the red carpet," gushes Lid C, who is "still in complete awe that Cheryl's on 12th treated so many Yelp Elites to a full on dinner.. and we're talking the works!" Yeah, it was that kind of party (yet thankfully nobody acted out a Beastie Boys reference). Cheryl's opened their doors to 70 elites (only) for a sit-down dinner. Appetizers like blue cheese and bacon, risotto balls, mini pizzas and more were passed, and Yelpers got to order an entree from a choice of stuffed meatloaf, rosemary chicken, salmon in caper sauce, and two fantastic vegan choices including a popular blackened tempeh. It's no joke, Chrisi B confirms "the meal was hearty and well-prepared, served in plentiful portions." But it didn't stop there. Cheryl's bakes all sorts of treats in-house, and trays of cakes, cookies and more were brought around to fill any remaining stomach capacity. Jessie B's "big winner was the Potato Chip cookies. Nope, that's not a typo - it's a delicious combination I couldn't even imagine until I saw one. They were a well balanced taste of sweet and salty - with a fantastic CRUNCH to sum it all up."
Of course dinner would not be complete without beverages, and Cheryl's stepped it up even a notch higher mixing up tasty concoctions made with local spirit Distilling Head's Bengerminz Vodka and Warship Silver Rums (in 80, 100, and 125-proof varieties!). The signature cocktail of the night was a fruity tropical rum drink, the West End Yellow Bird, that brought a bright ray of sunshine into everyone's night. The Bengerminz made a perfect pair with Joia Soda's Blackberry, Pomegranite & Ginger natural soda. Joia also was on hand with their Graprefruit, Chamomile and Cardamom soda and Pineapple, Coconut and Nutmeg soda. They made for great mixers and awesome straight sodas! Shannon H sums it up well: "The cocktails were almost dangerously good."
Oh, and notice all those rad photos? Yeah, that's Tom Maxwell, of Tom Maxwell Photography. He rules~
Mish M offers her "special thanks for Cheryl and her entire staff for making us feel so welcome," and that goes doubly from me as well. Big thanks to Distilling Head (Bengerminz Vodka and Warship Rums) for being a large part of the event, Joia Soda for bringing the tasty mixers/sodas, and my Manterns Kevin and Chris. And of course big props to everyone in the Elite class of '13! Looking forward to an amazing year.
