2013 is off to a cracking start! The weather decided to get all Melbourne on us, the skies turning black just hours before the event and foiling our plans for an evening outside, but this didn't stop Elite Yelpers from coming down to Orto and enjoying an evening of good food, drinks and entertainment.
Elite Yelpers were greeted with glasses of Brown Brothers Prosecco and tempting smells from the open kitchen. First up - arancini balls and individual terracotta pots of gnocchi. We spied eyes rolling in to skulls as Yelpers took their first bites and realised how soft and delicate the gnocchi was.
Capi provided us with mineral water and refreshing blood orange soda to round out the Italian experience and compliment the pizzas that circulated the room. The crowd favourite was the margarita, a simple pizza that allowed the quality of the produce and skill of the kitchen to truly shine.
The crew from Goodfil.ms had arranged a movie screening for us outside on the garden deck, but that pesky weather meant we needed to take a rain check (pun absolutely intended). Instead, Mr Simon Taylor captured the imagination of the crowd with his close up magic and winning personality.
Thankfully we had all saved space in the dessert stomach because later on when the donuts with Nutella sauce came out, none of us could resist!
Thanks to the team at Orto and Brown Brothers for a wonderful night and providing us with a terrific prize for the winner of our photography competition on the night. Congratulations Scott T your photo of the gnocchi was our favourite!
Until next time dear Yelpers... SYOY!
