Brooklyn Yelp Gets Tutu'd!
Last night the best of Brooklyn Yelp beat it over to Bushwick to take on Tutu's! This fantastic new cocktail spot is right off the Morgan L Stop on Bogart Street, and you better get there before the lines because not only are the drinks serious, the food is on point as well.
Walking into Tutu's feels like coming home. Artfully and eclectically decorated, the deceivingly large space feels lived in; more like an established institution than a space just a hair shy of its 5 month anniversary. The staff too, is much more polished and professional than any new spot has a right to be, and they welcome any and all with open arms and excellent cocktails.
The old-timey essence of the high-quality Owney's Rum was a perfect fit for the back bar, and not just because it comes courtesy of the hyper-local (just a few blocks away!) distillery, The Noble Experiment. With a couple of musicians setting the mood, Bridget and Kathleen cooked up well-balanced creations like the Bushwick Daiquiri. With lime and a bit of bitters bite, this classic hit the spot for everyone who tasted it! Loved the rum? If you're interested in hearing more about this local favorite, why not take a tour?
Up front, Dan and Ashley were mixing up the Maple Old Fashioned, a dangerously tasty staple of a cocktail menu rife with affordable excellence. One or four of them went down easy with the tasty treats being circulated, including mushroom sliders and a maple-glazed pork belly skewer perfectly set off by pickled garlic. And amazingly, the shaved brussels sprout salad that accompanied the brown butter sage gnocchi was equally as impressive as the pasta (clearly, since we're actually talking about brussels sprouts here). With food like this on the menu, I can only imagine how good brunch is...
A huge thanks to Jason, Cool Hand Lucas, Brettles, Sashley and the rest of the amazing and accommodating Tutu's staff for welcoming us in, and especially for sending us off with homemade s'mores. I just wish this bar was my local, and I'm envious of all you folks who live right around the corner! Let me know when you're heading back though, and I know I'll see you guys there again soon for more spicy lamb sliders and craft cocktails!
Whether or not you made it out, make sure to check out all the reviews of the event, the photos from the lovely Melanie Fidler, and what folks are saying. Thanks to all for making a dreary Monday night so special!
