Birmingham Elites get roasted at Hotel la Tour!
The sparkling Eastside hotel, that is soon to celebrate its first anniversary, invited Yelp Brum to the launch of their new Sunday lunch menu. Lucky Yelpers never being ones to turn down good nosh, especially served in the ‘classic with a twist’ style that HLT are known for, donned their Sunday best for the occasion.
The Sunday afternoon rain was left behind to be exchanged with a warm greeting from the concierge. This sunny disposition was contained within each staff member encountered as Yelpers made their way up the elegant winding stairs to the Aalto restaurant. They were then met by bar staff who encouraged everyone to relax on the sofas while the table was checked. Yelpers were most definitely feeling at home already.
We were soon lead through to the restaurant and as our wet coats and umbrellas are whisked away, yelpers' jaws are dropping on the table as we digested the new Sunday lunch menu. The diners all select the traditional Sunday roast meat of their choice but the starters include mushroom soup, which is good enough to eat alone as a meal! The black pudding with bacon and poached duck egg starter is an immediate winner. As the attentive wait staff top up the glasses of red, the mains arrive.
Yelpers regain their breath and tucked into rugby ball-size Yorkshire puddings with beef or garlic potatoes with perfectly cooked lamb. As satisfying groans are heard around the table, the dessert menu is offered and of course, accepted. A delightful Crème brûlée, a chocolate tart and the Aalto classic, Jaffa Cake pudding arrived soon after.
Everyone vows not to eat until tomorrow but also to come back to this delightful find as soon as possible. Thanks to all the Elites who came and garnished us with their presence!
Until next time!
