East Bay Elite Yelpers gladly abandoned their new year's diets in favor of a resolution they could definitely keep all year. Dedicated to savoring the best local eats, 200 Elite Yelpers helped kick-off the most delicious week in the 510: Oakland Restaurant Week 2013! The host venue, The Lake Chalet Seafood Bar & Grill, with it's glistening views of Lake Merritt was the "perfect example of
the good things in Oakland," Terry T notes.
As the majestic Gondola Room filled with Restaurant Week supporters, The Lake Chalet treated guests to a sampling of their prix fixe menu, including Mussels in Acqua Pazza, Spinach Ricotta Ravioli with Prosciutto Soffrito, Fresh Rigatoni with Braised Rabbit Sugo, and Budino Chocolate Pudding with Espresso Whipped Cream & sea salt. As if that weren't tempting enough, Lake Chalet also poured their signature beers: Lady of the Lake, Lake Merritt IPA, and Regatta Red - all made in house!
For the cocktail enthusiast? Five different made-to-order cocktails were offered by Campari, Wild Turkey bourbon, and Espolon Tequila. For the vinophile? Generous pours of Chateau St Michelle Reisling and Chalon Vineyard Pinot Noir were flowing all night. Seeing "professionals & hipsters hanging out over good drinks and tasty apps," was a happy sight for Vincent M.
Guests were encouraged to make a donation to Oakland Art Murmur, to help them keep our local landscape the inspiring haven of awesomeness we know and love. All donors were entered into a raffle, and a handful of lucky Yelpers walked away with prizes from The Lake Chalet Seafood Bar and Grill, Lux Premier Events & Concierge, Gondola Servizio, and Marqueta Gift Cards. "It's cool to see what can happen when Yelp teams up with another local organization to intermingle Yelp folks into other social circles," tips Egan B.
Speaking of intermingling, Mayor Quan was in the house to thank guests for their support of Oakland. Linda M "loved hearing her warm and personal viewpoints on the food, culture and challenges of Oakland." Julie C enjoyed her "stories about her family's restaurant as well as her hopes for a good year for Oakland," adding "I will always raise my glass to that!"
"From the views of Lake Merritt, seeing old Yelp friends, DJ Matt the Katt's lively music, the Oakland Art Murmur Raffle, and to the appearance of Mayor Jean Quan, everything was very festive and a great kick-off to another year of Eliteness" and savoring the best of Oakland, raves Sandyann G.
Cheers to keeping it local in 2013!
