Obviously we've all been been nice rather than naughty this year, because New Orleans Elites had not one, but two parties in December!
On a (not so brisk) Saturday evening in December, we gathered at Daisy Dukes in Metairie for a crawfish boil (the first batch of the season!), and endless platters of raw oysters, étoufée, gumbo, red beans & rice and more. The spicy Cajun Bloody Marys and Abita were the perfect libations to wash it all down.
Talk about holiday revelry! To get everyone in the appropriate mood, our alligator head crafting station allowed for us to bedazzle, festoon and glamourize these guys into a Cajun Santa's brightest "reindeer" to guide him through the swamp. We also got down with an ugly ornament exchange, where much hilarity ensued.
As a parting gift, Daisy Dukes gave each guest a bottle of their house made Bloody Mary mix. Combined with our decorated gator heads and ugly ornaments, we couldn't fathom how those gifts from Santa could ever compare!
Be sure and read the reviews. What Dorothy Y wrote about this "fantastic low-key event": "Just a couple of Yelpers crafting, exchanging gifts, and sucking crawfish heads." Sometimes, that's all you need to relax and unwind from the holiday madness, right?
There's more photos on flickr so check 'em out. Thanks so much to the lovely folks at Daisy Dukes for being such fantastic hosts!
Yelpy New Year,
(with my ugly sweater ornament!)
