Jingle bell rock, or something like it is what Yelp Elites and their guests partied to on Wednesday night in Hoboken, New Jersey. Iconinc music venue and local restaurant and pub Maxwell's hosted 125 Yelp Elites and guests for an evening of boozin', eatin' and rockin'. As Sean I so eloquently puts it: "Whiskey and live music, Merry Chistmas to me!"
With tasty menu samples incuding wings, quesadillas, sliders and more, and the likes of Beam on site serving up libations like the Devil's Lemonade featuring Jim Beam Devil's Cut, The Bluegrass Boogie with Knob Creek Rye and the Maker's Mark Presbyterian highlighting Maker's 46 and for those not divulging on the hard stuff, Shmaltz Brewing was hookin' it up with their He'Brew and Coney Island varietals. Toes were a tapping with as the drinks were flowin'. Phil H's fav "was that Makers Mark Presbyterian drink. Makers 46, club soda, ginger ale, lemon twist. Simple, yet effective, and they went down way too easy."
The entertainment of the night was a real holiday treat. The One & Nines play a down-home style of rhythm & blues a-la Little Richard to Irma Thomas, The Micks are garage-pop-rockers with musical cues ranging from Neil's Young to Diamond. Both bands are American Roots Music purveyors, and prisoners of Rock & Roll. And when the stars are aligned (or if someone hires them) the two bands occasionally team up for an all star jam to rock the earth off axis just a bit, if only for a night. Are we lucky or what?!
A big thanks to Hudson Cakery for ending the night on a sweet note with amazingly succulent and delicious mini cupcakes. Want to see more pics? Check out Yelp's Flickr page! Happy Holidays to all!
