Hartford's Elite Squad appreciates the finer things in life: hops, malt, yeast...and oh yes, water. On Wednesday evening, 50+ yelpers celebrated the anniversary of Prohibition repeal with a beer-centric outing at Back East Brewing. Between the award winning brews, ugly sweater contest, treats from Tapas, and a charitable twist with donations to Foodshare, the event was the perfect finale to 2012. So much gratitude goes to Back East Brewing, Tapas, and Foodshare for participating in this fantastically festive gathering!
Back East beckoned guests in from the winter chill as the beer flowed and Tapas presented a delectable spread of Mediterranean specialties, fresh pita, hummus platters, wraps, and Greek salads. “The food from Tapas was spectacular as usual” according to Alfred F, while Sandra C “especially loved the Greek salad” and “scrumptious chicken wraps.”
Throughout the evening, Back East poured generous samples of their Golden Ale, Porter, Back East Ale, Misty Mountain IPA, and seasonal Winterfest Lager brewed with cinnamon and local honey. Beer buff Eric A savored “the kick of hops at the finish of their Golden Ale” while Josh L “especially enjoyed the crispness of the IPA." Some lucky winners of Yelp bingo and our ugly holiday sweater contest even brought home bottles of the robust Imperial Stout. Continuing the party, our Back East hosts led a brewery tour while explaining the process and chemistry behind brewing beer. After all this fine education, Freesia S “will definitely be back for more beers and to keep supporting this great local brewery!”
In the spirit of the season, Yelpers donated to Foodshare and learned about the organization's admirable work in Greater Hartford. Thanks again to Back East Brewing, Tapas, and Foodshare for a wonderful event - as well as Nick Caito for documenting it all. Check out the photos on Flikr and read the reviews here. Write your own if you attended!
See you in 2013!
