Richmond Elites Party At West Coast Kix (Tacky Sweater Style!)
Richmond Elites and guests celebrated the final shindig of 2012 at West Coast Kix on Thursday evening. This awesome left coast inspired shoe, clothing, and accessories shop in the heart of Carytown opened its doors for Yelp's Tacky Holiday Sweater Party. We ate, drank, shopped and partied while donning wooly numbers that would make grandma proud. Tara S was impressed by WCK's style: "great shirts, hats, accessories and displays above the merchandise that can only be described as a mini-retro museum. It was nice to take in the old school." Way cool. Yelp Shops Local marked the perfect occasion for our first event in a non-restaurant venue – showing local love by supporting amazing local businesses.
What would an Elite Event be without fantastic food and bangin' beverages? Guests got their savory fix with party platters overflowing with cheeses, meats and crudités. Two Sweet Cupcake Boutique provided an enticing array of sweet treats, with flavors including eggnog, chocolate peppermint, vanilla caramel, gingerbread and red velvet. Dominic B couldn't get enough: "words can't describe the party my taste buds had from the flavors of the cupcakes. I will be making a trip to Two Sweet this weekend." Sounds like a perfect plan! To wash down the desserts, guests sipped Hardywood's Gingerbread Stout (brewed with fresh local ginger and wildflower honey) and their signature Belgian Blonde, the Singel. Thirst-quenchingly good.
In addition to the taste bud tantalizers, guests also enjoyed shopping discounts, a tacky sweater contest and posing for photos with the gingerbread man. One lucky guest won a prize package filled with WCK goodies, and a few lucky winners took home free ride vouchers from bioRide, so they'll be cruisin' the town in sustainable style! All-around awesomeness.
A huge thank you to Ben, Laci, Caitlyn, Rebecca and Cheats of West Coast Kix for being such fantastic hosts, and to Hardywood, Two Sweet and bioRide for participating in this fun and festive gathering! And shout out to photographer extraordinaire Sandy Whittington for capturing the evening on camera!
Until next year, SYOY,
Jamie D (with West Coast Kix's owner, Ben)
