La Vie Est Un Jeu @ Yakajwé

Posted by Julie M

The last Elite event of 2012 took place in a nice little game-cafe called Yakajwé. What is it exactly ? A place where you can try some board game. You can come over with some friends and learn how to play with those games... or just buy them. Interesting ! That's what the 30 Yelpers who were there thought after this special evening...

"Friendly atmosphere, good players, very orginal games" Niko S gives a very good description of the night. Blandine and Laurent the owners explained all the rules to each tables (way much easier than reading the instructions) and then it was all about laughing. Philippe C was really happy to discover that Xavier S was a cheater too... good point to play at Mito, a game in which the winner is the cheater! He was also "really happy to spend this evening with the Yelpers. And even more because now he knows how good the others are with drawing". He loves to tease everyone !

To calm down those laughter, Laurent prepared a very good Sangria, and the restaurant Les Gamins, provided some nice little finger food as well... "the home-made guacamole was flippin' brilliant" claim Christine F, and the other Yelpers could just say "amen"!

Good laugh, good vibes, good games... Wasn't it a FUC party!! Yelp that !

Yelp's Holiday Market: Nifty Under $50

The Yelp Shops Local campaign came alive on Sunday, December 16 in the back parking lot of The Establishment thanks to 40 local artisans and food and drink sponsors at Yelp's Holiday Market: Nifty Under $50. The outdoor parking space transformed into a mecca of local purchasing power with edible goods (mostly booze-infused), clothing, accessories, craft-like items, and more!

PicMonkey Collage
While holiday cheer filled the air, courtesy of Alize cocktails and sangria, guests made a mad dash for all the edible goodies available like booze-infused ice cream from Drunken Udder, cocktail-y treats from Cake Bar, and alcohol-inspired preserves from Preservation Society. Sweets without the hangover could be found in mini-cheesecake form at the Pacific Cheesecake Company booth, mouth-watering cookies at Action Cookies, macaron assortment packs at Soft Peaks Confections, and custom cookie boxes with DIY (decorate-it-yourself) kits at Baby Bea's Bakeshop. Mini Clif Bars and Luna Bars kept shoppers energized, while Pretzel Crisps samples and fun-sized bottles of Hubert's Lemonade added extra pep in steps. Vagabond Grillyard pumped out plump sliders of pulled pork to warm bodies and intrigue the taste buds!

PicmonkeyfoodWhen not filling Yelp tote bags with deliciously creative "foodie" gifts, yelpers spent their dough on handmade gifts like sequined clutches from I Made It...By Mars, adorable knitted items from Oxford Accessories, fashion must-haves from Bee Free Boutique, Le Fashion Truck, Fleet Collection, Excavation, and Rojas Clothing, and gorgeous jewelry from Rossmore, LOK'D, and Charlie and Marcelle. Hostess gifts and homewares graced the parking lot as well in the form of candles from LA Bumblebee, Mome Rath Garden by Megan Segal and Paper Pastries. There was even stuff for the little ones from Orangeheat and custom-made hula hoops from Devious Hoops.

PicMonkey Collage4

In the spirit of giving, guests contributed cash donations to Together We Rise, a local non-profit led by young adults helping improve the lives of foster children in America, raising over $1000. They were also treated to on-the-fly makeovers courtesy of the staff at The Establishment, holiday jams from DJ JMotion, complimentary gift wrapping from the Yelp elves, and photo booth fun from Flashy Photobooth (tag yo' self on their FB page). The Yelp App came in handy as well - guests that were quick to show their Check-In to our Cirque du Soleil ambassadors received two complimentary tickets to IRIS.

Reviews can be found here, pics from Unboxed Images on the Yelp LA Flickr page, and check out the awesome video of the event from Unboxed Images on their blog.

Happy holidays!

Yelp Pittsburgh Get's Over The Holiday Hump Day!

Posted by Rachel Carlson

Last week Burgh Elites got through the hump day together with Yelp's Holiday Hump Day Elite Event at Commonwealth Press in the South Side. The holiday wouldn't be complete without a little last minute shop til you drop at local screen printing haven to support Yelp Shops Local!

Commonwealth Collage
How lucky Yelpers were to be able to create their very own Yelp Commonwealth Press screenprinted T-shirt! Designed exclusively for Yelp, Elites and guests were able to get down and dirty and press their very own like Stacy C, who "promptly choose a T and waited in line. The owner, Dan, was happy to assist everyone in making their own unique shirt and in seconds it was hot out of the oven and ready to wear. Already being a fan of CWP, I quickly picked out two store shirts to add to my purchase. Merry Christmas to me!" No shame in that game. Ran L loved chattin' it up with the CWP crew, who "were very pleasant and down-to-earth. They were patient with our questions and explaining the screenprinting process to us." The more you know...

Commonwealth Food
But let's not forget the delish dish on Pipers Pub's. "You REALLY can't go wrong with Piper's" according to Lauren G. "For any of you who haven't been, go! But wait for it to cool, it comes out "Piping" hot," like the melt in your mouth mac n' cheese served up. Heidi S was super into the seitan wraps as the "seitan was tough, just how I like it!" Let's not forget East End Brewery, which had a keg full of their Fat Gary brew. As LG noted, "having East End at Commonwealth events seems to be a trend. I love local businesses teaming up together."

Commonwealth People
We'll leave you with the wise words of Joseph F: "I was excited to become an Elite mostly because it meant I could have a neat badge on my profile. But after finding out about these Elite events, I decided that it would be backwards of me to not take advantage of them. It was everything I wanted it to be. Friendly staff more than willing to talk to you about their business, and other like-minded Elites who wanted nothing more than the same warm atmosphere, interesting conversation, and exploration of the city." We couldn't have said it better!

A big thank you to Commonwealth Press, owner Dan Rugh and the amazing staff for treating Yelpers to such an amazing evening and kudos to Piper's Pub for providing the delicious spread. Also, thanks to Ray Miles Creative for the fab photo's that you can check out here. And last, but certainly not least, City Dining Cards, who provided Yelpers with a special treat of Pittsburgh Dining Cards for attending the evening!

If you want to catch more of the event buzz, hop over to the event listing to read all about the excitement from your fellow yelpers.

Gettin' you through the hump day and every day after,

Yelp Philly's Hoppy Holidays

Yelp Philly Elites kicked off the holiday season with Yelp's Hoppy Holidays at Field House. Nearly two hundred fifty guests attended the party, dressed in their finest holiday threads. YEE Collage 12:19 peopleA main goal of the event was to introduce Yelpers to Field House's new and improved space. Recent renovations including an overhaul of the food and drink program were highlighted. Chef Andrew Brown served up tasty treats including double bacon smoked popcorn, chopped salad, short ribs and mash, crab mac and cheese and more. An extensive beer and wine list was available for Yelpers to whet their palates.YEE Collage 12:19 foodWith so many people in attendance, check-in was a bit slower than usual. Field House came to the rescue by extending the event a full half hour, so that everyone could enjoy themselves. About an hour into the event, local band Cheers Elephant took the stage to entertain the masses.  YEE Collage 12:19 mixIn keeping with the true spirit of the season, donations of twin sheet sets were collected for Project H.O.M.E., a local non-profit geared towards breaking the cycle of homelessness. Bags upon bags of Yelper donations were delivered to the organization the day after the event. Many thanks to all who participated in this effort! YEE Collage 12:19 donationYelp's Hoppy Holidays was our largest Yelp Elite Event of the year, and many thanks go out to Tim and everyone on staff at Field House. Yelp Elite Ali E "can't wait to play some more with the fine people of Yelp in 2013!" Cheers to the 2012 Yelp Philly Elite Squad for a great year!

Zon In Donkere Dagen! Elite Event @ Roasterz

Het weekend voor Kerstmis. Amsterdam: Albert Cuyp. Druilerig weer. Yelp deelde uit: the one & only retro rode Yelp Elite horloges! Present time!

Love for the Amsterdam Elites

----------- IN ENGLISH -------------

Amsterdam. The weekend before Christmas 2012. Dreary weather, yikes... Thank God for some Sun In Dark Days Elite Event @ Roasterz! Saturday, December 22nd, was an afternoon of delicious Surinam food, Caribbean flavours, and the love of Carol & Rodney to showcase their new restaurant and warmed all our Amsterdam Elite hearts! We -love - RoasterzRoasterz has just opened her doors three weeks ago and is a true heaven for all you meat-loving, BBQ-gustos! Caribbean tastebuds beware: those honeyglaced ribs, chickenthighs ('Skattebouten'), nasi, and Rodney's Bananapancake will make you quiver with excitement. Have I mentioned the Faya Lobi Wings? Just go to this place, try it out - either to have dinner on the spot or to take-out- and I promise you: it will not let you down... Super Yummy Food! The last Amsterdam Elite Event of 2012 gave us an intimate atmosphere, lots of yummy food, drinks (needless to say, the Fernandes shined), and we even learned how to make Surinam food! First of all: making your own bowl of Chopstick Salad; ricenoodles, lettuce, grilled beef, and rich Surinam dressing (a tad spicy). Oh, eeeeh YUM! Rodney stirred up the BBQ to treat us to the special ribs, Skattebouten, a lovely salad with buffalo mozzarello and, as to be expected: seasoned BBQ tomatoes. Last, but so not least: a workshop how to make his infamous Bananapancakes! Topchef's got nothing on us: these indulgent bananacakes with syrop and sesameseeds proved themselves to be remarkable! We were in the festive mood, it's almost Christmas after all, so we treated all the Elites to special, uber-retro red Yelp Elite watches! It's so good to be Elite! 2013: we're in time. We're on time! A special shout out to Rubi V! Why? Well he made the Most Beautiful Photo of the week in Yelp's Massive Magic Photo Game and went home with a box from Marqt, completely stuffed with delicacies and goodies! How's that right before Christmas?  PresentsssDear Carol & Rodney, thank you so much for this delightful afternoon! You have showed your true Roasterz-colours and they're sparkling and bright! I can't wait to come soon again and enjoy the feast!

Dear Amsterdam Elites, it's always such a pleasure to have you at the events and thank you so much for all your effort, contributions, humour, fun & sparkling personalities and making Yelp Amsterdam bigger and better. You ROCK! Let's rock on in 2013! Let's ROCK 2013!
Check out more magnificent photos that our noted Amsterdam photographer Dennis V has made of this feast and check out the reviews of Roasterz and the Elite Event! Beware: don't read when hungry...

Yelp Melbourne's Pirate Paaarrrrggghhhtttyyy!

Posted by Tresna

The forecast was for 39 degrees (celsius), the kiddy pool was filled with ice, the beers and ciders chilled and the sweet treats safely guarded... Yelpers came down to Badger Vs. Hawk for one last hoorah in 2012, decked out in pirate costumes and carrying their precious entry fees - a lemon or a lime.

Why citrus fruit? Why, to fight scurvy of course! And to garnish the refreshing welcome Gin and Tonics provided by The West Winds Gin.

Capi hydrated us with mineral water and Christmas-appropriate cranberry fruit soda. Brasserie Bread sent in hundreds of chocolate brownies to energise us for walking the plank and sword fights!

Golden Axe delighted the crowds in their lumberjack pirate hybrid costumes and their refreshing new cider got the thumbs up from wenches and sailors alike. Badger Vs Hawk's cold brewed Machete coffee was also a good energy booster and meant there was more energy for laneway shenanigans!

Bridgeport sent us some IPA, the perfect pairing with the sliders coming from the Badger Vs. Hawk kitchen - miniature versions of their regular burger menu.

As the mercury hit 40 degrees and we thought we would expire from the heat, fabulous Yelp Marketing assistants Katherine O and Emma C handed out delicious Lucky Pops iceypoles and everyone spilled out in to the laneway to sit in the shade and look at the street art.

Thanks to everyone for a fabulous first year of Yelp in Melbourne.  To our photographer, John Hewat who always captures our special monents - we love your work!

To our fabulous sponsors, Elite Squad, helpers and marketing assistants who have helped build our vibrant Melbourne community this year - you're all terrific and I can't wait for more adventures in 2013 with you

Until 2013... SYOY!

Phoenix Elites Feast At Tanzy

In the true spirit of the holiday season, some very lucky Yelp Elites and their guests gathered at Tanzy for a 13 course family style feast! Upon arrival, guests were greeted by staff with a glass of champagne to toast to the night. Once they took their seat, the feast began!

PicMonkey Collage8

PicMonkey Collage6

The meal started with mouthwatering courses that included beef carpaccio, Mediterranean meats and olives, calamari and local mozzarella made tableside and accompanied by basil pesto, oven roasted tomatoes and ciabatta crostinis. As yelpers chatted with one another as well as the Tanzy management, servers continued to serve heaps of food such as Risotto with sweet corn, roasted pepper and grilled asparagus as well as fresh egg pasta with roasted ground veal, beef and pork.

PicMonkey Collage
PicMonkey Collage2

With so much food, it's only natural that guests needed wine to wash down their food and luckily Southern Wine & Spirits was there to keep the wine glasses full throughout the night! The savory feast continued with deep fried brussel sprouts, Filet, short ribs, salmon and scallops! To top off the evening, Tanzy provided a sweet ending with dessert wine, flourless chocolate cake and red velvet bread pudding!

PicMonkey Collage3

After yelpers finished stuffing their faces with savory and sweet eats, those who brought a gift participated in a comical White Elephant gift exchange complete with gnomes, dart boards and coffee mugs! However, thanks to Tanzy, everyone left with a goodie bag that include two tickets to a movie at iPic!

A special thank you goes out to Tanzy for hosting the party, Southern Wine & Spirits for providing the wine and to all the guests who joined us! Take a look at the reviews and pictures.

Metro Fort Worth Yelpers Punch A Ticket To Backstage Pass!

'Tis the season to rock! At least it was recently for North Texas yelpers in Fort Worth and Denton, where three nights of back-to-back-to-back live music set the stage for all of us to get amped to live tunes at Yelp's Backstage Pass! Monday night kicked things off at Magnolia Motor Lounge, where Morning People took the stage with their own brand of funk and roots rock. Buffalo Trace and Fireball Whisky poured throughout the night (and throughout each night)! Yelpers also got their Backstage Passport stamped to enter a drawing for a seven course dinner for two (and a bottle of sake) from Shinjuku Station

Things headed north to Denton on night two, when we stormed Rubber Gloves Recording Studios for some Real Ale-enhanced live jams courtesy of indie band Bad Design and the southern fried rock of Old Warhorse. We warmed ourselves up with some Buffalo Trace and Fireball Whisky and head-bopped into the night.

We rocked. We rolled. We photo-bombed the bands. We hit three great rooms (culminating in our last night with Un Chien taking the stage at Lola's). Yelper Chris P came away the lucky grand prize winner (and deserved it: he hit all three nights!) -- all in all, a terrific way to lean into the holidays - good cheer, great bands and timeless tunes!

Until next year, SYOY!

Yelp's Sassy Santas and Sangria Event!

Posted by Elsa M.

Yelp Baltimore Elites made it merry with 'Bad Santa' and  his newlywed-bride, 'Mrs. Claus' (his third!) at Fell's Point's posh new establishment - WillowYelp's Sassy Santas & Sangria Holiday Party accepted the 'nice,' but rewarded the 'naughty' with unlimited samples of white and red sangrias, cheesy nibbles, and pictures with Santa and his not-so-blushing bride

Yelp's Sassy Elites @ Willow  Yelp's Sassy Elites @ Willow

Ruth C "had an awesome time kicking back with the Baltimore elves and lounging about upstairs to observe marriage failure of storytime proportions." Apparently, the new Mrs. Claus admitted to party-goers she just 'married the old man for the toys and fame,' not that hands-on Santa was any better! "This little Yelper let enough copped feels slide to earn an extra sumpin-sumpin in her stocking this year!" Ruth C laughs.

The Holiday cheer was apparent throughout the restaurant. Immediately upon walking in, Valarie J was struck by the beauty of Willow and its "old world charm." Jules U was actually hit by the beauty behind the bar, thanks to the "hot bartenders with model-like features who poured stiff drinks." The night was made even more perfect for her after she got ahold of "the best guacamole" she had "tasted EVER!" Brandi P raves: "The decor at Willow was enough to make me want to come back and thanks to Yelp, I now know where it is." Fab! Closing out the old year with plans for nights out in the new, is never a bad thing!

Yelp's Holidaze Elite Event At Maxwell's

Posted by Stephanie

Jingle bell rock, or something like it is what Yelp Elites and their guests partied to on Wednesday night in Hoboken, New Jersey. Iconinc music venue and local restaurant and pub Maxwell's hosted 125 Yelp Elites and guests for an evening of boozin', eatin' and rockin'. As Sean I so eloquently puts it: "Whiskey and live music, Merry Chistmas to me!"Drinks

With tasty menu samples incuding wings, quesadillas, sliders and more, and the likes of Beam on site serving up libations like the Devil's Lemonade featuring Jim Beam Devil's Cut, The Bluegrass Boogie with Knob Creek Rye and the Maker's Mark Presbyterian highlighting Maker's 46 and for those not divulging on the hard stuff, Shmaltz Brewing was hookin' it up with their He'Brew and Coney Island varietals. Toes were a tapping with as the drinks were flowin'. Phil H's fav "was that Makers Mark Presbyterian drink. Makers 46, club soda, ginger ale, lemon twist. Simple, yet effective, and they went down way too easy."

GroupThe entertainment of the night was a real holiday treat. The One & Nines play a down-home style of rhythm & blues a-la Little Richard to Irma Thomas, The Micks are garage-pop-rockers with musical cues ranging from Neil's Young to Diamond. Both bands are American Roots Music purveyors, and prisoners of Rock & Roll. And when the stars are aligned (or if someone hires them) the two bands occasionally team up for an all star jam to rock the earth off axis just a bit, if only for a night. Are we lucky or what?!Dance2

A big thanks to Hudson Cakery for ending the night on a sweet note with amazingly succulent and delicious mini cupcakes. Want to see more pics? Check out Yelp's Flickr page! More reviews from the Yelpers themselves? Read 'em here. A million thank you and high fives to Farooq Alihassan for capturing perfectly the fun evening

LastoneOh, and to end this blog wrap up a huge THANK YOU to all the Yelpers who brought toys out. We collected over 100 toys for kids in need in Hudson County. We just made the world a little brighter!

Happy Holidays to all!

It's Vodka O'Clock @ Theory Vodka Lounge in Seattle

Posted by Katy

What's cooler than hosting an end of the year blowout bash in the ever-exclusive Theory Vodka Lounge? You guessed it - NOTHING! Decked out in their hippest holiday gear, Seattle's Elite Squad members piled into this ultra-hip bar as part of Seattle's biggest nightclub, The Social, and sampled a variety of lovely vodka-laced cocktails all night long

PicMonkey Collage1
PicMonkey Collage3
Representing a variety of premium flavored vodkas, Belvedere Vodka sponsored the event and combined with the creativity of the bar staff at Theory, guests were treated to three stunning samples of cocktails. And for when that pesky line got long no one was too shy to take a quick shot of Belvedere Intense! Other flavors offered throughout the night included: Lemon Tea, Pink Grapefruit, and Black Raspberry

PicMonkey Collage4
PicMonkey Collage5
With private booths, plenty of standing room, and dining areas surrounding the expansive vodka bar, guests could settle in comfortably to mix and mingle with fellow Yelp peeps. Holiday tunes helped to set the mood on this chilly night as each Elite yelper was gifted a brand spankin' new set of Yelp fingerless gloves. Among other treats were endless supplies of holiday candies, fun and funky 80's toys and treats, and best of all, delicious bites served straight from the kitchen of the bar. Samples of fresh food included: Meatballs with a cranberry relish, Salmon gravlox on toast with capers, pickled veggie canapes, sweet potato chips and some lovely seasoned popcorn.
PicMonkey Collage2
But with all of the candy, food and liquor, there needed to be some balance to the evening! Our friends at Neuro helped "light it up" by offering generous free samples of two of their most popular flavored beverages, Bliss and Passion. Both of these lovely lightly carbonated non-alcoholic options helped keep guests energized and hydrated throughout the event.PicMonkey Collage6PicMonkey Collage8Were you among the fortunate few to attend our end of the year Elite bash? Looks Like We Made It... Yelps Last Night On Earth At Busalacchi's A Modo Mio!

With the end of the world in sight, 150 Yelp Elites and their guests marched into Busalacchi's A Modo Mio on a chilly December night for one last hurrah. The crowd ranged from the dapper to the deep-sea diver, and all were prepared to celebrate their final hours with Yelps Last Night On Earth At Busalacchi's A Modo Mio.

After checking in and walking through the symbolic pearly gates, Yelp Elites and their lucky guests gathered on the outdoor patio and prepared to party — one final time. As always, every surface was covered with Yelp schwag, decorations were hung, photo opportunities were tactfully positioned, and the fire pit was lit. Staff: ready. Mood: set. Effect: created. It was time to eat and maybe drink just a little bit too!

Joey Busalacchi himself encouraged the Yelp Elites and their guests to jump head first into the feast he had prepared for them. Gathered on the toasty patio, trays of short ribs on potato cakes, butternut squash ravioli with sage cream sauce, and homemade pasta with dungeness crab and serrano chili amongst other house specialties made their way around the crowd. It was a true Italian feast prepared and served with all the TLC that you would expect from the Busalacchi family. To top it all off, halfway through the night Joey opened the doors to a "top secret" paradise which included more that 500 handcrafted desserts. Excuse me? Come again? 500?! Catching our breath and moving on... Peroni was poured, Jameson sipped and collective oohs and ahhs could be heard with every glass of the Yelp Apocalypse Sangria or Karlsson Vodka cocktail prepared by the expert bar staff. Tucked in the corner but easily located was Lindsay who was pouring the finest reds and whites from Ste. Michelle Winery. The wine highlight of the night: tastings of the Antinori Tignanello, which rings in a $150 a bottle. Now that's going out in style!

Along with the unforgettable food and drink dished out by Joey and his staff, it was the extras that truly made the evening memorable. By checking into the event, Elites walked away with a bag of Busalacchi's homemade pasta while Smilin' Jack, the accordion sensation  played everything from Christmas classics to old Italian favorites all night long.  Why the heck do the call him Smilin' Jack anyway? I guess we'll never know. The crown jewel of the evening isn’t what yelpers took; it was what they gave. Proving themselves to be Elite people as well as Yelpers, Yelp San Diego donated enough canned goods to fill two fifty gallon drums which will benefit the San Diego Food Bank. Because of these Elites, people in need throughout the city are guaranteed to have something to eat this holiday season and for that, this recapper could not be more proud. Ace photog and familiar face Jon Bagalso took the shots here and the eager have already scribed their impressions here. Enjoy the holidays, be safe and we’ll see you in 2013.

Yelp's Ugly Sweater Holiday Hoopla at Fifty West Brewery!

Posted by Cindy

Yelp201212 57

Yelp Cincy's Ugly Sweater Holiday Hoopla at Fifty West Brewery was one heck of a hoopla indeed! There were plenty of ugly sweaters, holiday spirit, food, fun, and craft beer fresh from the source.

Fifty West
Yelp201212 2

Yelpers started the night off right with plenty of craft beer to boot. "When I saw that we would be having an event at a brewery I was beside myself; food, Yelp and craft beer from the source, yes please! It was everything I hoped it would be and then some. We got the grand tour of the brewery and sampled their many fine beers. These gentlemen are brewing some seriously good beer!" -Jon C

Yelpers even got to help out by zesting oranges to make the next batch of Whit's Wit! A proud moment for all of us. Just another excuse to come back and sample this delicious beer!

What says bar food and holiday better than a Build Your Own Yelpcorn Bar? Yelpers crafted their own indiviual flavored popcorn. Caramel, cinnamon sugar, white cheddar, and cheesy bacon ranch were just a few of the favorites.

Jose joined the party bringing powerful flavors, and the Yelpers approved! "The food from Pura Vida pop Up Taqueria was great! I loved their take on goetta and beer cheese. Thanks to Cindy for bringing these two great local businesses together for a wonderful night." -Ryan P

As if this hoopla wasn't crazy enough already, Katie and her team from The Owens Group had Hobbit gift bag giveaways that included the soundtrack, schwag, and free tickets to see the movie at any theater of your choice!

Yelp201212 34

No ugly sweater holiday party would be complete withought a photobooth: "The photo booth, as always, was fun. You can never go wrong with a photo booth and some goofy friends. Speaking of goofy, winning the ugly sweater contest was definitely the highlight of my evening. My husband may have been embarrassed to be seen with me, but hey, I won!" -Kara C

"What's not to love? Hot new brewery, tasty food, and our great Cincy CM! The staff of Fifty West and Pura Vida were wonderful and friendly, the atmosphere cozy, and how lucky were we to feast on that chirozo-ghetto-feta wonderfulness while hanging out in a super cool space with so many beers to choose from? This is the stuff that makes it so sweet to be Yelp Elite. Thanks to all the hosts!" -Angela C

But don’t just take our word on the night’s awesomeness, you can read all the reviews right here. You can also check out the other cool pics by photographer extraordinaire Anna Penny on the Official Yelp Flickr page!

A special thank you to Bobby, Blake, Whit and their staff at Fifty West Brewery for being such wonderful hosts! The ever so talented Jose and team at Pura Vida popUP Taqueria, as well as Kyle McCarthy for snapping some wonderful pics of the popUP's journey from start to finish. Check them out here!

Last but not least thank you to Katie, Kyle and everyone at The Owens Group, as well as all the Elite's that made this Holiday Hoopla one we will never forget!

See you in 2013!

Yelp Montreal's Holiday Hooplah - La Fête des Fêtes de Yelp!

Posted by Risa D

On a snowy late December eve, lovelies of the Montreal Elite Squad gathered to sip Annie Patenaude’s dreamy Lune de Miel honeywine at the last of this year’s special Elite events. General 54 and neighbor Annex Vintage were the most charming and artistic of hosts for Yelp’s Holiday Hooplah, and with Mike O’Brien and the Monday Night Choir singing us off into the moonlight the New Year is bound to be harmonious.

The Preservation Society, and Mile End Favourite, Maestro Traiteur, put on a delectable spread of sweets and savouries, and with all the cozy going round Farin I declared this “Hands down one of the best Yelp events so far.”

Check out the adorable pictures thanks to our dashing Elite photographer for this event, Rowan U. And while we’re at it, a special shiny thanks to all the super Elites who have been stepping up to
help make our Montreal Yelp Community magic happen! Y’all are truly the best and we’re lucky little Community Managers to get to work in a town full of people as kind and cool as you.

Have safe and joyful holidays and we’ll cheers you on the other side,

South Bay's Winter Jingle Mingle Preview @ Campo Pizzeria

Posted by Abby Schwarz

It may be cold outside, but thanks to Campo Pizzeria, South Bay and Peninsula Elites got all sorts of warm and cozy at our Winter Jingle Mingle Preview Party!

A delicious new Palo Alto destination specializing in thin-crust artisan pizza, handmade pasta, and a fresh mozzarella bar, Campo's kitchen is led by Executive Chef, Sean O’Brien, named “Best New Chef” by Food & Wine Magazine. O’Brien has worked his culinary magic at some of the top Bay Area restaurants including Myth, Gary Danko, and Acquerello. Campo, which translates to “field” in Italian, represents the restaurants “field-to-table” passion for sourcing only the freshest menu ingredients. The South Bay and Peninsula Elite Squad was invited to a special sneak preview just a few days before the 140-seat restaurant opened to the public Wednesday, December 19. Yeah, we're kind of a big deal... and so is Campo!

Campo Collage 1

Campo Collage 2

150 Elites and +1's enjoyed a tasty preview of delicious signature dishes such as marinated mixed olives, salumi and cheese, chicken and liver mousse & bacon bruchetta as well as veal and pork meatballs with tomato sauce, Parmesan cheese and grilled bread. Plate after plate of delicious thin-crust pizza, with savory toppings like the Charred Brussels Sprouts Pizza, with bacon, ricotta, garlic cream, chili oil and lemon, or the House Pork Fennel Sausage Pizza, with tomato, smoked mozzarella, pepperonata and scallions were passed. Don’t forget the warm, house-stretched Mozzarella demo from Chef Sean O'Brien, house gnocchi or the Bomboloni cinnamon-sugar donuts for dessert…

"The food was absolutely fabulous, raved Leslie H. "I tried homemade mozzarella balls drizzled with olive oil and spices, melt-in-your-mouth gnocchi, and sliver after sliver of delicious wood-fired pizzas. I was amazed that Campo Pizzeria was able to maintain a crisp crust all the way throughout their pies without burning them to a crisp! I also really enjoyed the salami and prosciutto slices as well. The veal and pork meatballs topped with homemade tomato sauce and shavings of Parmesan cheese were bite sized mouthfuls of heaven. I also really liked the gnocchi which were so rich that they melted in your mouth!"

It wouldn't be a gourmet pizzeria (or a Yelp event) without wine, and Campo offered two different wine stations with over 10 varietals on their regular menu for guests to sample. "Definitely no shortage of wine," cheered Julia S. "My favorite was my first glass, an extremely delicious sparkling red wine." Janet O also agreed, "The wine was perfectly partnered to their wonderful pizza flavors. I love the sparking rosé. I also had some of their Sauvignon Blanc." Cheers, ladies!

Campo Collage 4

Campo Collage 3
Also on-hand to make it a VIP experience was La Photobooth, offerering a premium interactive photo booth for everyone to enjoy. Essentially, they brought a professional photo shoot to the event, including a digital SLR camera triggered by a footswitch and displays so guests could see the pictures as they were taking them. Peggy S "Loved the photo booth. The amount of props was plentiful and the quality was decent - I didn't look like I just robbed some homeless person's wardrobe and posed in them. The picture quality was amazing too, probably one of the best as well!  You could also preview your photo and select the ones you want. The photo came out to be full sized instead of little picture strips." All of the high-quality La Photobooth pics can be found on the Yelp South Bay-Penisula Flickr page.

'Tis the season for giving, so Nine Lives Foundation, a no-kill cat shelter in Redwood City, was invited to attend and collect donations for their efforts. We raised $800 at the party, thanks to our generous Elites and guests! Meow!

Without a doubt, the Yelp Elite Squad was impressed. 40 and counting 5-star reviews impressed... Harsha G wrote, "I am looking forward to coming back, in fact friend and me wanted to buy food here as it was soo delish!! Excellent job Campo, can't wait to visit you again....mmmm, writing this review makes me crave your food, and it's not even past 24 hrs since I ate here." Carl W also said, "Moreso than perhaps any other YEE, I'm definitely coming back!" Perhaps Thien N had the best parting words of anyone, "See Y'all at Campo! Don't be a stranger."

Thank you, Campo, for hosting! We'll definitely be back!

Buffalo Yelp Gift Wraps Your Stress Away

Posted by Alex L

The holidays are just around the corner...and who has time to wrap gifts anymore? If the store you went to didn't do it for you and you're anything like me, by the end of the night you're left with scissors, tape and a night of potential frustration and awkward-looking gifts. Which is why, this year -- we made it easy with a Gift Wrapping & Massage Holiday Party which benefited Buffalo First.

By the end of the day, we donated over $350 in cash to Buffalo First and countless people came home with their gifts looking all snazzy. Big thanks to Rebecca D and Jody G for volunteering their gift-wrapping skills for the day. A big nod to Ashker's Juice Bar for letting us use their space, Eric Cornell for the wonderful massages and to Nickel City Graphics for producing a video of the event:

See you next year ---

Yelp Cleveland Decks Mahall's With Bowling Balls!

Posted by Cara

With the holidays right around the corner, Yelp Cleveland Elites deserved a break from all the hustle and stress—and that's what we gave them at Yelp's Jingle Bowl

Yelpers rolled in from near and far to hit some pins at retro Mahall's Twenty Lanes (open since the 1920s!), dressed in their seasonal cheeriest. They were greeted with free movie passes to preview new flick, Zero Dark Thirty once they checked-in on their Yelp apps. And the first 5 Elites to add a picture of our party got a Zero Dark Thirty t-shirt!

Not only did Mahall's offer up free bowling, including shoes, for the entire event, but they also whipped up a spread from their revamped, locally-sourced, chef-driven menu. They almost couldn't keep up with the demand for their homemade fried chicken, jerky with thai dipping sauce, handcrafted soft pretzels, coleslaw, cornbread and warm peanuts. In fact, Habby H gushed, "the fried chicken... it's really good. Probably best (so far) that I've had in Cleveland. Super crispy, perfectly juicy. Omg... the homemade soft pretzels were BOMB as well."

All those strikes are bound to make a Yelper thirsty, so Mahall's served up complimentary cocktails and beers from their craft menu of retro drinks. Kaitlin D "LOVED the bar. So quaint and friendly! The staff was fantastic. Perfect final event of 2012!" And if all the bowling, imbibing and eating wasn't enough to keep everyone busy, there was a DIY Yelpy ornament station set up for guest to cut, paste and tie their own.

And, of course, it wouldn't be a Yelp Cleveland Elite Event without a cheeky photobooth for some snapping shenanigans. Thanks to Ackey+ Z Photography for capturing some great pics of us all on the alley and in front of our Leg Lamp booth with quotes from "A Christmas Story." See all the pictures HERE.

A big thanks to Mahall's Twenty Lanes for hosting us Elites during one of the craziest times of the year, The Owens Group for hooking us up with sweet movie posters and passes to Zero Dark Thirty, Ackey+Z Photography and all the Yelp Cleveland Elites!

  • See the event reviews HERE
  • See the event pictures HERE

We'll sum this bash up with Dan S: "Fun time! Another great event! I even got to bowl with Santa, wardrobe malfunction and all!

See you all next year!

Yelp Helps Charity Punschstand

Posted by Andreas R

It all started with an idea late at night during a Yelp event: wouldn´t it be great to do something for a good cause together as a community during Christmas time? What was initially planned as a smaller thing quickly developed into a larger campaign, which was supported by a large part of the Viennese Yelp community.

From December 18-20th we borrowed two punsch stands from Lions, where we sold punsch and glühwein for a good cause. The stands were manned with Yelpers, who worked with lots of passion to sell as many hot drinks as possible.

During the three days we collected around 1.500 Euros, which was handed over to Lions, who then transferred the money to Sonneninsel (first rehab center for children who fought cancer) and the Behindertenwerkstätte & Heim St. Martin. Yelp supported the campaign financially as well by inviting everyone who uploaded a picture at the stand to a drink and paying the bill for them.

It was fantastic to witness the passion and excitement with which the Viennese Yelpers worked together for a good cause during those three days. Something like this is only possible with the right community and we definitely have that here in Vienna. I want to take this opportunity to give a big thank you to everyone who supported this campaign, helped at the stands and donated their money. Another big thank you goes to Lions, who offered us their stands for three days. We will see you again next year!

Merry christmas, happy new year, servus und bis bald!

Soirée Yelp Elite #6 - Nocturne de Noël chez Bonnie & Jane

Posted by Christoph

Screen Shot 2012-12-21 at 12.30.19 PM

The freezing cold weather and the rain was not enough to discourage 60 Yelpers to discover the amazing Bonnie & Jane Shop on Friday 14th of December during Yelp’s nighttime Christmas market. Let’s go !

Screen Shot 2012-12-21 at 12.30.52 PM

Bonnie & Jane, a shop where Dorothée E finds : “unique vintage items, wonderful clothes & original jewelry”, an address that “has to be shared with all your friends“. In short, this place was the perfect fit with our Yelp Shops Local action. Oh, and sorry Agnes L it’s not possible “to buy the entire shop”. What a setup. To give it all a nice outdoor comfy Christmas touch, the Florist « Bac à Bloem » parked his awesome vintage truck just in front of the shop. The outdoor party light chain was then plugged..the party could start !

DSC_8888 en tant qu'objet dynamique - 1

DSC_9064 en tant qu'objet dynamique - 1

What would be a Christmas market without Glühwein right ? The foreseen 20L were nearly not enough to warm us all up ! Our deer partner Volga was in charge of satisfying the beer-fans (all belgians are). This was the opportunity for us to taste their brand new « Le Rouge », a very tasteful cherry flavoured beer !

DSC_8881 en tant qu'objet dynamique - 1Glühwein...Christmas time...we had to prepare some warm chestnuts, cooked with delicacy just in front of the shops door. For Dorothée E, this was “the perfect christmas setup, great to meet new Yelpers”  . What a smell ! Inside, Laurie and Anne, the 2 shop-owners prepared delicious homemade Christmas cookies. Next to them, Yelpers could grab a few candies from the Yelp jars.

But because images are Worth thousand words, here’s a video of that Yelpy evening !

Thanks again to Fabrice from Frame-Shot Team for this great video. Thanks to Nicolas Lefébure for the awesome pictures. A big thank you to our partner Volga for the drinks and finally, thanks to Anne & Laurie from Bonnie & Jane to have made this all possible and to have opened this boutique that Jean-François G fell in love with : “a real jewel, proof of a tasteful art direction !”.

A Very Yelpy Holiday Party @ Aloft Hotel SFO

Posted by Abby Schwarz

"Oh the weather outside was frightful, but Aloft was so delightful..."

Aloft Collage 1

True story! It was grey, drizzly day outside, but South Bay and Peninsula Elites would never have known once they stepped into the brand spankin' new Aloft Hotel SFO, our host for A Very Yelpy Holiday Party. "Location, location, location," chanted Steph V. A huge fan of Aloft hotels, Steph was "stoked that the event was held there. The vibe is very modern with the art, color choice, and wide open lobby." Energy flowed and personalities mingled in a setting that combines urban-influenced design, accessible technology, and a social scene that's always abuzz.

As Elites and their +1's arrived and checked in, they were immediately greeted by Nine Lives Foundation, our beneficiary non-profit for the event. Nine Lives is a non-profit, no-kill cat welfare organization that works with the local community and rescue groups to reduce the over-population of homeless cats. They provide all necessary medical treatments for shelter cats and seeks loving, permanent homes for them. And because Aloft is a pet-friendly hotel, Nine Lives brought two adorable, 10-week old kittens for guests to enjoy (and cuddle!)... and entice someone to adopt.

Kitty collage

Also on-board for this festive soiree was Roti Indian Bistro, serving a mini buffet of chicken tikka masala, naan, Basmati rice and vegetable pakoras. Sunny from Roti was kind enough to bring two rounds of food from the restaurant, located across 101 in Burlingame. "Great pakora," hollered Dorothy L, "I could not stop eating that stuff!" Like Santa with his bag of toys, Peter's Kettle Corn "never ceases to amaze Sheena T, with 8 different flavors of freshly popped goodies, including horchata, Saigon cinnamon sugar, chipotle lime and crème brûlée. Not to be outdone, The Ultimate Sin Cheesecake Company brought three varieties of holiday-themed minis, including "Eggstravagant!"egg nogg and chocolate.

To keep spirits bright, Aloft's Xyz bar staff mixed some holiday libations made with baller booze. First on the list, a Cherry Mojito comprised of Grey Goose Cherry Noir, which Yelpers couldn't get enough of. Also on the lineup was a Bombay Sappire gin cocktail made with rosemary and strawberry. "But, the real star of the bar scene were the beers provided courtesy of San Francisco's 21st Amendment. The Fireside Chat and Hop Crisis, were both fantastic," said beer connoisseur Bryce B.

Very Yelpy Holiday collage 3

Because this was a Very Yelpy holiday party, Farrah Javed brought her homemade henna, complete with tinsel-like sparkles. "It was my first time getting a henna tattoo and I was really nervous about getting one done but I'm so glad I did," sqealed Ly D with delight. "So cute and quaint! Thank you, Farrah, for my wonderful tattoo!" Last but certainly not least, Elites' new favorite photo booth, Snap Yourself! was there to capture the cheer in picture form. They provided a customized backdrop, allowed guests to control the shutter and had some rad Christmas *and* Hanukkah props! "We all had a rockin' time taking pics with the hats and props from SnapYourself. Way cool since you can snap away once you're ready, and do multiple takes if you don't like the result," bragged Denise L.

As with all good Elite events, this Very Holiday Party was over in just the (Saint) Nick of time. Before bidding aideu to Yelpers, Aloft was generous enough to raffle off a a one-night's stay to those who donated to Nine Lives Foundation and those cute kittiens. Almost $900 was collected from our cozy little crew, so Santa hats off to everyone who contributed to the cause!

Very Yelpy Holiday Collage 2

A very merry thank you Aloft Hotel SFO, Roti Indian Bistro, Peter's Kettle Corn, The Ultimate Sin Cheesecake Company, 21st Amendment, Grey Goose Cherry Noir, Bombay Sapphire, Snap Yourself!, Farrah Javed and Nine Lives Foundation. They helped make this party a 5-star event!

Good tidings to you and all of your kin!

Yelp's 3rd Annual Jingle Bowl in Minneapolis!

Posted by Annie D

"Jingle Bowl, Jingle Bowl, Jingle all the way...
Oh what fun it was to bowl in place called Memory Lanes..."

Jasmine B never finished her epic Christmas carol, but she's right—the bowling reindeer and hot toddies were ever so delightful this week at Yelp's Jingle Bowl!

This year, we celebrated our holiday Yelper shindig at the wonderful Memory Lanes in South Minneapolis, which hooked everybody up with all-you-can-bowl deals, proscuitto-wrapped tots, pizza bagels and more. This bowling alley is a neighborhood favorite for a good reason.

Not only did we have a jolly good time, but we also collected a huge sleighful of charitable donations for Sharing & Caring Hands. Seriously, Intern Lauren almost couldn't fit everything in the car.

Our pals at 2 Gingers Whiskey and Crispin brought plenty of good cheer with winter warmers beverages like complimentary Big Gingers, Hot Clauses (apple cider + 2 Gingers), Crispin Original and Fox Barrel Blackberry-Pear Cider. William C said, "The Hot Claus with 2 Gingers was the perfect drink to warm my soul before destroying racks upon racks of bowling pins."

Yelpers also had a chance to decorate Yelp's Yuletide Gingerbread Village with Intern Tameka. Stephanie K said, "I am a candy and arts & crafts addict, so the gingerbread house table was right up my alley. It was REALLY hard not to eat all the supplies."

Brand new to Minneapolis this year, we were so excited that Snap Yourself could make it to the party too. The friendly Melissa and Jason invited everybody into what was basically a high-tech holiday photo playground. Check out all the crazy shots from the photo booth here, as well as party pictures by Emmerlee Photography on Flickr!

Thanks so much for everyone who attended and donated—and a big thanks to our sponsors at Memory Lanes, 2 Gingers, Crispin and Snap Yourself who helped make the night so merry and bright! If you were there and would like to send our sponsors some love, feel free to review the event on the Jingle Bowl listing. As with all official Yelp events, we ask that you wait to review the sponsors on their business pages until you've had a more genuine customer experience.

Yelpy holidays to all!

Columbus Elites Are Seeing Red!

Posted by Christina C.

Yelp Columbus Elites & guests painted the town red – well, local bar Double Happiness anyway – for the last Elite event of the year, Yelp's Seeing Red 2012 Holiday Elite Party! While sipping on five complimentary drink options and fully imbibing with special cash bar prices, Elites took in the holiday cheer wearing all red. "Loved it! This was a classic Elite event at it's finest!" chimes Liz M.

Freshstreet Yakitori served up individually-made Japanese crepes & piping hot okonomiaki fries with a spin. Emma L explains "We ate some of the fries from Freshstreet, which were really, really good... I just had to eat them with my eyes closed. There's just something about Japanese Mayo, Nacho Cheese and Fish Flakes that sound so wrong and taste so right!"

Yelp seeing red 2

Competition was fierce throughout the night as three different competitions were presented. Elites battled it out in the "Merrry Yelpmas Movie Trivia Game" for a chance to win a gift card to dessert partner, Red Velvet Café – who also brought dozens of delicious cupcakes. Teri D just has "one word about the cupcakes - YUM!!!!!!!!!"

Perhaps the highlight of the night – besides the apropos tunes thanks to The Clamdown & DJ George Brazil – was the Thai chili-vodka Hot-Shot Contest. A handful of iron-palated Elites took a shot and the one who lasted the longest without taking a drink afterwards won a VIP party at Double Happiness. Little did we know that Columbus Elites aren't phased by much. A tie-breaking limbo contest ensued where champion Matt R was crowned the winner. Hot stuff!

Beyond contests, crepes & shots, We Are Glitterati took shots of their own in the Naughty or Nice Yelp Photo Booth. Check out all the pics here! More photos from the talented Melissa Pena can be found on our Flickr page here.

Yelp's Naughty Or Nice Festivus

Posted by Evelyn W

Yelp Toronto beat the Mayans to the [rum]punch and brought the world to its knees one last time before twenty-thirteen.

Toronto's finest flocked in their nicest (and naughtiest) to beautiful earth Rosedale where the staff really brought the heat with their flat breads, cheese spread, mushroom crepes, squash dessert... and the pork, just ask Sami E: "The food was awesome and plentiful; there are few things in life better than a roasted pig." Happy Birthday Jeebus.

Screen Shot 2012-12-20 at 12.28.55 AM

That pig make you thirsty? Yelp heard you and had 5 buzzing drink options to choose from. A festive cran cocktail scrumptiously made with sweet wine from our friends at Barefoot, beer from the great folks at Steamwhistle, and an array of delights from our generous pals at Rosewood Estates.

We weren't just naughty, though, everyone niced-it-up with food donations to Daily Bread Food Bank and a live artist successfully auctioned off a painting to benefit the worthy holiday cause. Shopping local and helping feed the hungry in our community? Well done, friends!

Keep it naughty but stay safe, Yelp Toronto.

Vegas Yelpers Shop Local At Yelp's Spectacular Spirit Spree

Posted by Misti Yang

Vegas Yelpers gathered at The Las Vegas Distillery for a Sunday that tapped into the spirit of holidays past, present and future at Yelp's Spectacular Spirit Spree! With a very Elite potluck, local shopportunities, classes from the School of Spirit, craft cocktails and snacks a-plenty, Yelpers had no problem delving deep into the holiday spirit.

Elites hit the Distillery early bearing dishes for a deliciously competitive potluck. Elites were gifted a $10 Fresh & Easy gift card so they could recreate their winning dishes over the holidays, and Julie K wasted no time: "Later on that night we went to Fresh & Easy and bought ingredients to make sinigang for dinner with our gift card!" From lasagna to salted caramel bread pudding, the spread was divine, but the crowd favorites were cooked by Arvin C, Ian A and Nelson Q. The lucky winners went home with treats from the Distillery, including a First Edition Whiskey!

The snacks didn't stop there! Local jerky wonder JoJo's Jerky was dealing everything from teriyaki to triple threat beef treats. True Foods Salsa kept things fresh with homemade salsas and guacamolito, and Dip Sticks Bakery kept things sweet with a selection of cake pops, including a a Guinness and Moscato crowd pleaser. Coast 2 Coast food truck sampled selections of their regionally inspired sammies, waffle fries, and Regina P's fave Cool Ranch Chili Cheese Doritos. "Yum yum yum. Talk about flavor explosions in your mouth!" All of the tempting treats were washed down with craft cocktails (hot buttered rum, anyone?) created using The Las Vegas Distillery's artisan spirits.

With full bellies, Yelpers were definitely ready to shop local until they dropped. Whether they bottled their own booze to purchase from the Half-Full Liquor Store, selected a hand-poured candle from The Fragrance Factory, scored a nerdtastic custom iPhone case from The Ninjabot, picked out a one-of-a-kind shirt from a local designer at the Downtown Hanger Project's booth, found a custom piece of jewelry from Dee Rubio or stashed some loose leaf tea from Iron Kettle Teas, there was something for everyone on the nice list!

Just in case Yelpers needed a bit of guidance for holiday cheer the day was also filled with classes and experiences from Yelp's School Of Spirit! Luxy Nail Salon created very merry gel manis for guests. Massage Envy worked out holiday knots with complimentary chair massages, and Paint and Party taught everyone how to paint a winter wonderlandJanel S confessed, "This was my favorite thing to do!" Plus, special guest appearences were made by hypnotist Kevin Lepine from the Las Vegas show Hypnosis Unleashed and the Balloon Master from the Las Vegas show The Balloon Master Show

Be sure to read all of the cheery details (and if you were there, add some of your own) in the official Yelp reviews! You can also peep all of the fantastic photos by Anthony M on the official Flickr set right here

Until 2013, think global, shop local and Yelp everywhere you go!

Bar Umbriago's Holiday Hang On Hubbard

Posted by Danny Wurst

There’s no better way to celebrate the holidays than feasting on a 92 lb piece of meat. Well that’s exactly what over 100 guests did at the Yelp Elite Holiday Hang On Hubbard this past Monday evening. Bar Umbriago couldn’t have been a more perfect setting. From the minute guests walked in was the feel of an enoteca in Italy. Combined with greens, Yelp reds, and bright lights the party really felt like the holidays.

Other than the 92 lb piece of meat, Chef Michael Ponzio also prepared 2 suckling pigs, a Charcuterie table (yes a table), a risotto & pasta station, and that’s just to name a few. The deliciousness didn’t quite end there. Three different flavors of infused Tito’s Vodka (fig, vanilla, and a spiced cranberry) and Waterbrook wines kept the yelpers full of buzzworthy holiday cheer all night long.

The stellar staff took great care of guests while lucky winner Rafael C won the opportunity to ring in the New Year with them by winning the Check In/Tip raffle. Congrats! Yelp Miami Makes It Snow For The Holidays

Posted by Johnny Todd

It seems only fitting that after an Elite event with plenty of fire, Yelp Miami follow up with something cool — literally. After all, it’s the holidays. So, with tidings of comfort and joy on their minds, over 200 invite Elites (and guests) made their way to Miami Beach gem The Sanctuary South Beach to enjoy a catered event by downstairs restaurant OLA. Yelp’s Oliday Xtravaganza was ready to begin.

After walking through the ground floor showcase of the gorgeous cabana rooms, guests took elevator (or, steps) to the rooftop, which was adorned in sexy white and warm red. And, wait. What was that? Snow? Yes. Guests were greeted with a snowstorm made just for them on a humid, 80-degree night in Miami Beach. The Beach skyline never looked better than when dotted with foamy snowflakes.  Mood set and effect created, it was time to eat.

Some guests took advantage of the event’s special prix fixe menu which featured duck salad, plantain-crusted mahi and banana tres leches. But for those who were trying OLA’s food for the first time at the event were in for a treat. Lite bites of Chicharron, House Meatballs, Corn Empanada, Mini Lobster Empanada, Fire and Ice Ceviche, Chicken Anticucho, Deconstructed Key Lime Pie, and Mini Chocolate Bombs delighted guests as it seemed that the servers could not keep up with demand for OLA’s delicious Latin fusion creations. And the thirst built up by eating all that food was quenched with a dedicated wine/beer bar and a dedicated mojito bar, making deceptively powerful libations from Ron Zacapa and Don Q rums.

8269730959_c570a91c12_b 8270774500_a73eff1661_b 8270794742_abf6167648_b 8270796880_b1606ec450_b

Despite the incredible food and drink, it was the extras that truly made the evening memorable. DJ Alejandro Cacciola got the crowd moving and kept ‘em there, playing everything from Christmas classics to house to hip-hop. Inspired by the music, bad Santa made an appearance, stumbling through the crowd, dancing inappropriately and making good boys and girls very uncomfortable when they sat on his lap. But the crown jewel of the evening isn’t what yelpers took; it was what they gave. Proving themselves to be Elite people as well as yelpers, Yelp Miami donated over 150 unwrapped toys that went to the benefit of the Ronald McDonald House of South Florida, The Boys & Girls Club of Miami and Big Brothers Big Sisters. Because of these Elites, children throughout the metro are guaranteed to get something this holiday season and for that, this recapper could not be more proud. Ace photog Alex H took the shots here and revelers scribed their impressions here. Enjoy the holidays, be safe and we’ll see you in 2013.

Yelp Elite Event "Anni 20"

Posted by Kristina

On a Monday night in Florence we went back in time to the roaring 20s. With feathers and cigars we danced the Charlton al night and drank some good wine! The event took place at Nicla, a specialized costume and makeup store, with their able hands we where transformed into gangsters and 20s beautiful movie stars!

Col 4

We had some fantastic sponsors. Funiculì brought their pizza, Enoteca Le Barrique brought some great red wine and some sweet wines, to wash down the fantastic cupcakes brought by Dolce Lab. Everybody got their makeup and hair done by the professional hairdressers and makeup artists from Nicla and Be Beauty, Georgette J loved the idea “The fact that you could get your hair and makeup done was really cool and honestly why not learn some tricks along the way".

I would like to thank Nicla that hosted the event and all the sponsors for their great products and services. Also Ilaria G, that took more then 2000 photos to make up a stop motion video of the event!

Yelp Detroit's Holiday Spirits and Cookie Exchange at Mash!

Posted by Annette

Last week, Detroit Elites gathered at Mash in Ann Arbor to spread some holiday cheer and sugar coma it up at our Holiday Spirits Party/Second Annual Cookie Exchange! Elites and their guests turned it out by bringing over 30 different cookies/treats that varied from adorable chocolate chip reindeer to baklava, salted chocolate chip to homemade Oreos!

To help our level our blood sugar, Mash hooked us up with samples of their fine fare like creamy mac and cheese, thyme and cheddar buttermilk biscuits, sesame BBQ chicken wings and soft pretzels. To wash it down they provided tastings of some of their expertly mixed craft bourbon cocktails like the Ginger Mash (fresh strawberries mashed with oranges, Tennessee whiskey, ginger beer and smoked rocks) and Kentucky Blizzard (Maker’s Mark bourbon, hand pressed cranberry, fresh limes, sugar, Fee Brothers American Beauty and a whiskey cube), plus tastings of their house brewed beers!

To continue the holiday cheer we also had a Sketchy Santa photo-booth, a make your own Yelp ornament station, and a holiday giveaway with prizes like fancy ornaments from Bronner’s Christmas Wonderland (the largest Christmas store in the world!) Plus--since there were far too many treats to eat on site, guests were provided adorable holiday take out boxes to fill with sweets to take home and munch on throughout the coming days.

If you made it and want to share your thoughts feel free to check out the reviews (and write your own) over yonderPhotos can be found here for your enjoyment. As always, thanks to Doug Coombe for snapping those lovely memories, Robyn T and the affable Drew T for lending a hand and playing Santa (respectively), and a hundred thanks to Mash and their super awesome staff for hosting such a fabulous evening.

And so we end a most amazing 2012 here in Detroit. Filled with rock and roll, go-karts, wine and beer, and tasty multi-course dinnersHappy holidays to all and here’s to many more memories to be made in 2013!

Yelp Milwaukee Elites (Get Their) Jingle Bowl (On)!

Posted by Rachel Fell

If you live in Milwaukee or know Milwaukee even just a little bit, you probably know of Olympic Lanes: a bowling alley untouched by the inexorable march of time situated on South 27th Street.

Guess what, though? You'd be wrong in thinking that Olympic Lanes is still Olympic Lanes, because now it's JB's on 41... and they played host to our second annual holiday party/Jingle Bowl this past Thursday night!

Oh what fun we had... oh what reindeer games were played... Great Lakes Distillery kept the holiday spirited with delightful punch and bottles upon bottles for sampling; JB's kept us stuffed with their delicious homemade pizzas, pestos, and apps, folks rocked their holiday finest, our white elephant/takeaway bingo game saw folks give/get ridiculous and unimaginable gifts... and of course, Sketchy Santa made his appearance (as he always does at Yelp MKE holiday parties).

Elite Mike M summed it all up quite festively...

Twas the night of our Yelp-mas, when all through the lanes,
Yelled a sloppy drunk man who smelled kinda strange.
The stockings were hung by an octopi’s snare,
The children all shrieked! Sketchy Santa was there!

The yelpers all cowered, crippled with dread,
“I think his cigar just touched my forehead!”
With candy and swag and junk in his sack,
Good thing he wore pants, I don’t need the clap.

Then out on the lanes the pins made such a clatter,
Steve got a Strike, with his back turned no matter!
But no one had seen this quite amazing task,
because Santa had grabbed another person’s ass

The presents were piled like new-fallen snow
We stared at our cards, for our time to go
Mousaches! Kiwis! Vibratones and more!
Joey Fatone action figure from the ‘NSync store?

Rum Chatta and cocoa, goes down too quick
Rachel throws killer parties, she’s a pretty cool chick.
Great Lakes liquors, they’re the best in the game
Boring Christmas parties will never be the same

Now Tony! Now Cassie! Now Heather! Now Rick!
On Stephanie, On Merete, on Sketchy Saint Nick!
To the best in the South! To the BayShore Mall!
Now Yelp away! Yelp away! Yelp away all!

(Check all the amazing photos here, and the reviews of our event here!)

Happy Holidays, Yelpers of the four-one-four (as well as those near and far)! & until 2013... SYOY!

Providence Yelpers Jingle All The Way!

Posted by Hilary H

Yelp PVD's Merry Marketplace "was full of the holiday spirit." Over 250 yelpers "shopped, ate, drank, and grooved our way around the rows of fantastic local merchant booths" last Thursday night at Hope Artiste VillageJennifer E "loved knowing that I was not only getting some fantastic handcrafted items, but contributing to the RI economy and not just to the usual big box stores." Hooray for shopping locally!

"If you didn't walk away from this event with a little extra holiday cheer, you truly are a Grinch! It had the perfect mix of drinks, food, and socializing" and gave Jen H the opportunity to finish "checking names off the gift list." For Jean R, "this was the best local shopping all in one place - and my holiday shopping is complete!" She enjoyed "amazing nibbles while sipping on a 'Gansett and shopping at PVDs finest!"

"In no particular order," Valerie Z "ate ceviche (Los Andes), got a chair massage (Alayna White), scored adorable earrings (SUEDE), picked up Christmas gifts (Queen of Hearts, Mod Mama), and took photos with my sis (Shutterbooth). Nobody does it like PVD Yelp. For serious." In addition to all of the stellar businesses mentioned by Ms Z, Yelps Merry Marketplace featured hand-crafted local jewelry from Noon Designs, coal-fired slices and the best wings in town from Providence Coal Fired Pizza, fabulous fashions, accessories and heavenly scented candles from Shoppe Pioneer, blissful baked bites from cupcake confectioner The Cupcakerie and the heath-conscious and delicious Rachel Bakes. Specialty crafts from local artisans such as Ahlers Designs, Rhody Craft 100 and MadKnits were a huge hit, as well as the beauty products for the beauties from Ava Anderson Non Toxic selling their eco-friendly goods. Yelpers shopped for a wonderful assortment of unique gifts from retailers such as cook's delight Stock Culinaty Goods, the vinyl-lovers dream In Your Ear Records, quirky and charming items from Homestyle and the gift for the guy who has everything, City Dining Cards. All those shopping yelpers were able to keep cool with sips of cool brews courtesy of our buddies at Harpoon Brewery, Crispin Cider and Narragansett Beer. And let us not forget the seriously delicious (and enormous!) sandwiches from Hudson Street Deli, the outstandingly fresh crudites and giftbags from Julians or the smorgasbord of tastiness (falafel, anyone?) from Yelp PVD's #1 restaurant, East Side Pockets!

To make the magic happen, the elves from Powerstation Events lit up the greenhouse of Hope Artiste Village and really set the mood, along with the musical stylings of DJ Anthony Ferreira who "filled the Merry Marketplace with plenty of tunes." Victor K dug the "great food and great booze," and wonders, "what more could anyone want? Oh.... how about free samples, loads of Yelp swag and supporting local Providence businesses?" You got it, bud! Be sure to check out the festive pics snapped with care by Brad Smith, and take a peek at the Shutterbooth hilarity, too!

And since the holidays are about giving rather than receiving, the merry yelpers of Providence spread good cheer and raised heaps of cash for our dear friends at Providence Animal Rescue League. And with that, my dear yelpers I say unto you – Happy Holidays to all, and to all a good Yelp!

The Nite(hawk) Before Christmas

Posted by peter d.
'Twas A Nite Before Christmas, and all through the theater,
Not a creature was stirring, not even a Peter (D).
You may know the cinema, great films in the lineup,
(If not you should get there, hit the website and sign up!)
But last night we rocked out in the cafe and bar,
Where cocktails and tasty treats are the star.
Jen and Caryn and Nick had a hunch,
That everyone would enjoy some poinsettia punch.
So they mixed in with Bulldog and tasty it was,
It gave all the yelpers one awesome buzz.
Cinnamon and lemon and grenadine tempted,
Because the London gin was perfectly blended.
Bulldog beats any gin, hands down I'm thinking,
We thank them for donating bottles for drinking.
The punch went so well with delicious snacks,
Those mushroom croquettes sure were like crack.
Truffle popcorn, deviled eggs and housemade meatballs,
If you have tastebuds then you were enthralled.
Well-dressed were the yelpers in dresses and (wood) ties,
But it was Sara R who was catching the eyes.
Although there were many that gave a run for the money,
That green dress brought votes like bees to the honey.
She won the gift bag with Bulldog and more,
13 buttons from fellow yelpers the score.
I know I'll be back soon for cocktails and treats,
For films and fun programming I'll be in the seats.
Holler when you feel like coming back too,
I don't have any friends (not shocking to you).
Thank Bulldog, thank Nitehawk for being sweet hosts,
They deserve good wishes and excellent toasts.
If you missed it make sure to peep photos and Talk,
Read your friends' reviews and feel free to stalk.
We're almost there and it's about that time,
Which is great because I hate to rhyme.
That's it for us in two thousand and twelve,
We're signing off, your Yelp Elite elves.
Enjoy your New Year's, may it be snowy and white,
Happy Holidays to all, and to all a good night.

Los Élites de Madrid cantan villancicos en El Mentidero Café

Posted by Lolo R.

Around eighty Yelpers came last Sunday to El Mentidero Café, in order to enjoy what Fer A describes as "a great venue in an incredible environment, with a unique proposal in Barrio de Las Letras", and from Ana S highlights "not only the decor", but also "the food, abundant and tasty". She has only good words for the salmorejo, something that Teresa A also loved very much, along with "the hummus, the astonishing green gazpacho and the fresh cheese and fruits skewers". Collage 5

Sebas A has always been more inclined to sweetness, so he prefers to talk about "the roscón de Reyes and the frozen yogurt" he was treated with. The first one came from the hand of La Sorianita, and the second came thanks to YOY, and was incredibly successful: after tasting their frozen yogurt Ángela R could not think about anything else but to visit them.Collage 1

But it's impossible not to talk also about the cocktail prepared with "spicy rum, ginger beer and lime" courtesy of The Kraken Rum through Global Premium Brands, which is set to be a highlight next time Juan D meets his friends. The cocktail also caught the attention of experienced Yelpers such as Jose Antonio P, who found it "quite surprising, specially the slightly spicy taste at the end". He was also surprised by the pictures shown in El Mentidero Café, a magnicent work by Alfonso Trancón. Collage 3

As always, I want to thank Yelpers and Elites to come and share a couple of hours with us, as well as thanking Mak, Quique, Rania, Elena, Sergio and Alberto from El Mentidero, La Sorianita, Joseph from Global Premium Brands, Íñigo and Patricia from YOY, Alfonso, Ana and Mario for their hard work and support. Without them, this event probably will not have happened. Do not forget to leave your review in the event page and take a look to the picture set on Flickr.

All That Glitters Is Gold: Yelp Houston's Gold Badge Bash

Posted by Farrah Akhtar

The Yelp Elite Squad closed out the year with a Gold badge bash – All That Glitters is Gold. Eighteen of Houston's brightest, most "senior" yelpers ventured to the upscale Triniti Restaurant for holiday cocktails – a beautiful spread of apps, and goodie bags!

For those who missed out, catch up on the reviews and the pics!

Yelp's Rock the (Jingle) Bells Elite Event at Rolling Stone LA

LA East Elites rocked the jingle bells on Monday, December 10 at the holiday party at Rolling Stone Lounge. Buffalo Trace Bourbon spiced apple cider cocktails and Freixenet bubbly stocked the bar, while tray passed apps made their way to party goers that included assorted flatbreads, BBQ pork sliders, smoked salmon crostinis, and more. Dessert bites featured festive offerings like gingerbread whoopie pie cupcakes and peppermint cheesecake squares.

PicMonkey Collage

When guests weren't busting a move on the dancefloor to DJ La Muerte (or scoring some sweet schwag and giveways), they were snapping away pics at the PhotoBoothless rock 'n roll-style backdrop. Mobile activity was a flurry thanks to two great give aways, a complimentary holiday shot at the bar and a drawing to take home two tickets to Cirque du Soleil's IRIS! Relive the night with reviews found right here.

No holiday event would be complete without some do-gooding, so with a suggested donation at the door, we helped raise $800 for The Salvation Army. Unboxed Images was on site to capture all the holiday fun, which you can peep on Yelp LA's Flickr Page. Or, better yet, take a look at this awesome video of the evening

Yelp Indy's Totally Bazaar!

Posted by Brittany

It wouldn’t be the holidays in the Circle City without a "little" local holiday shopping party known as Yelp's Totally Bazaar. Nearly 1,400 yelpers packed in to Indianapolis City Market for a one-night celebration of local Indy. Food, alcohol, entertainment and some of the best shops in the city set up stands for Hoosiers to get festive shopping done and explore this great city.

In the words of Stephanie D, "There was so much to do and see I didn't even know where to begin! The atmosphere was right with everyone trying to find that special gift for that special someone. The options of gifts were endless as were the food and beverage options which I took full advantage of!"

The Bazaar was booming with an amazing selection of 65+ vendors selling unique gifts like gourmet marshmallows from 240Sweets, ugly Christmas sweater tshirts by Vardagen, smoked holiday meats from The Smoking Goose, American Armadillo's bowties and Easley Winery's mulled wine by the bottle and cup. To ease the giftwrapping woes, a complimentary gift wrapping station wrapped up the goods found in shoppers stuffed Yelp bags. To catch a breath from all the shopping madness, yelpers could pay a visit to the west wing of the Market for Pattern's holiday fashion lounge complete with black and white Christmas films, a makeup and photo booth and several fashion vendors.

Heather H's take on the event: "WOW.  I think everyone in town came to this event!  What a great showing by Indy citizens for local vendors!"

Sarah C got her shop on: "SUCCESS! I loved the atmosphere. When were you ever at a holiday shopping event that wasn't bustling with people? The vendors were helpful and most importantly - patient. Though it took some squeezing and weaving to get through the masses of people, it was worth the effort to reach the local goods."

Yelp OTP's Movie Madness

Posted by HeidiP

We asked OTP yelpers on a dinner and a movie date. They flirted a little and finally said 'Yes!'

We gathered at the brand new Studio Movie Grill in Duluth and greeted warmly by Ed, Omar, Rayna, Chef and a large smiling staff. We started with appetizers in the beautiful bar lounge – but this was no popcorn and Skittles party, no siree! Our cocktail hour could battle a 5-star hotel as we were served ahi tuna on crunchy seaweed, California rolls, St. Louis BBQ ribs, salmon with cream cheese and kale on a potato chip, crab cakes, shrimp cocktail and mini peanut butter milk shakes, as well as signature SMG blue margaritas that were so sweet and smooth they blue our minds! The service was impressive, Brent H says it best: "All of the employees were tripping over themselves to make our event spectacular." Even the Chef served us apps!

Dec Elite Studio Movie Grill3

Elites and their guests each had the opportunity to win pairs of VIP passes for another visit back to Studio Movie Grill, or a gift bag of Yelp goodies in a raffle.

After cocktail hour, we moved into the theater to catch our elite-voted-on flick, Skyfall, in four rows of primo seats that were reserved just for us. Han L complimented, the "spacious theater is immaculate, being new and all. The leather?/pleather?/poly-vinyl?/non-canvas seats were very comfortable." Agreed! We perused menus for our complimentary entree, wine and dessert and when we had decided, we each had our own call button to request a server! Vivian W thought "eating in the dark was an adventure" but adds that luckily no one was injured in the process!

Dec Elite Studio Movie Grill1

When all was said and done, even those who battled a bit of traffic to get there thought the night was a success! Annie L assured, "Needless to say, we'll be back."

Yelp's Spa-cation @ Jolie Salon & Spa

Posted by Nique!

Is there a remedy for holiday overload? A place to kick up your feet and re-discover sanity? A magical land where massages and wine and chocolate always go together? Yes, dear Yelpers, there is... Jolie collage
During the holiday madness, East Bay Elites escaped to Danville for Yelp's Spa-cation @ Jolie Salon & Spa. Prepped for a day of pampering, guests were treated to complimentary eyelash extentions, "bitsy" haircuts, mini facials, aromatherapy treatments, and the crowd-pleaser of the day: "massage flights" a way to sample multiple masseuses at once - and to feel like a queen, lavished from head to toe. Lauren J recalls, "The only problem with the massage was that it ended...but I know what I'm asking for for Christmas!" Jolie collage2

To enhance the indulgence, Incontro Ristorante provided a spread of savory bites from wild mushroom bruscetta, salmon crostinis, and mostaccioli with sweet Italian sausage, peas, roasted bell pepper & tomato-cream, while local wine bar Auburn James poured full glasses of Malbec and Chardonnay and invited Elites in for deeply-discounted wine flights at their downtown tasting room. Danville Chocolates came with trays of truffles, bark, and brittle, leaving these lucky Elites feeling properly spoiled. Or, as Trish A can testify "this Spa-cation was the epitome of luxury."

If only every Sunday were a Spa-cation! Check out the Elite reviews here and pics from Shazam Photos on our Flickr page.

Til our next spa-velous getaway,

Charlotte Elites Check In With The Checkers

Charlotte Elites got some throwback taste of a good 90’s, Mighty Ducks-style KnucklePuck with our Charlotte Checkers. This Crown Town semi-frosty eve made for a wonderful 2012 cap with our Squad decked out in schwag, shoutouts on the jumbotron, and some killer BBQ and brewkies beforehand.

A few dozen of us gathered at one of Uptown’s que joints  -- Queen City Q for some noshables. Smoked wings, Pork sliders, House-made chips with Pimiento Cheese Dip, and goodness those Deviled Eggs! Brian F notes, "Queen City Q good food, the owners are nice people, and they have a killer beer selection." Chubby, our illustrious polar bear mascot, came and snapped a few photos with us, too. NC draught brews flowed like wine and then our crew instinctively flocked like the salmon of Capistrano to the Arena.

Untitled 2

A sea of Elites filled section 116 as we cheered on QC’s home hockey team. A whopping Charlotte Elite Squad shoutout plastered in all sorts of red and white glory even mades it's way on to the jumbotron! You know you’ve arrived as a Yelp Elite when your crew is getting some Arena-Love.

Photo 5-2

What a night. Our Checkers came out on top with a HUGE win over the Aeros in a double-overtime shootout! Victory was oh-so sweet as we departed. Go, Checkers! Amanda F tells all -- "Our seats at the game were awesome! Unfortunately there was only 1 fight to see and it was at the other end, but we could see all the action during the shootout!"

Untitled 3

What a way to put a cap on 2012. A fantastic year of eventful eventfuls and many a Charlotte spot enjoyed by the Charlotte Elites. Here’s to you, 2012. Now, bring on 2013!

Yelp Helps: We Put The Heart in Party

Posted by kelly stocker

From writing a great review for a relatively unknown local business to putting some elbow grease Yh1into working with our local non profits, Yelp likes to help. This past Sunday, 500 yelpers gathered at Pine Street Station for a Sunday Funday that included 15 local non profits talking about  Yh2the good they do in the community, many awesome stations featuring local liquors and food and and all the fun we could handle.

Our fabulous Austin non profits included Leap of JoyHAAMCampfire USARoom To ReadKIPPHelping Other People EverywhereActive LifeColorado River FoundationPease Park ConservancyEmancipetI Live Here, I Give Here and Amplify. Each of our NPOs were matched up with some remarkable element and yelpers had to speak to at least five of them to be entered in a raffle for Austin Eats Food Tours and tickets to Cirque Du Soleil's Saltimbanco.

In this case that included delicious beverages like Segura ViudasCrown ImportsMaker's Mark, Republic TequilaLeprechaun Cider, Treaty Oak Rum, Waterloo Gin and Starlite Vodka and Honest Tea, delicious bites from Baby Zach's HummusKind Snacks SugaPlump Pastries', Reel Popcorn & Mercury Pizza

Yh3Of course a party aint a party without some other really remarkable elements. We had live music from The Love Leighs with sound by Baines Kinnison, baby animals from Tiny Tails To You, hula hooping classes from Hooty Hoops, giant awesome paper mache heads from MonsterLove and an old fashioned and awesome photo booth from Magnolia Photo Booth. Those cool strip pictures are here.

Chad W Adams got some amazing shots of the party itself and all of those are on the Yelp Flickr. Don't forget to read the reviews for our fabulous event and be wildly jealous of all the good times and good deeds Yelp's Austin Community is down for.

Don't be sad ! Yes it was the last Elite Event of 2012, HOWEVER almost 30 Yelpers came to the bookshop Dialogues Théâtre and were there for the very first time. On this special occasion, they discovered the particular atmosphere of this typical venue in the Vieux-Lille

Ambiance 2 Because Yelp Shops Local, the food and drinks were... Local too ! Oriane D was happy to " eat cheese, drink wine and have the possibility to get a tattoo in a bookshop !"

Yelp's Fashion Night Out Elite Event @ Mikiway

Posted by Valeria I.

Eccoci arrivati all'ultimo Elite Event dell'anno, in una location d'eccezione.

E come ci ricorda il nostro Riccardo M: "Cara Roma, Keep Calm and Yelp On!"

La Vostra CM di Yelp Roma,

Here we are, the last Elite Event of the year, in a fantastic location. After San Lorenzo, Prati, Quadraro, how couldn't I bring my Elites in the most radical chic neighborhood of Rome? Yes, December Elite Event was in Rione Monti, in Mikiway boutique, and Elites were welcomed by the owner, Mihaela, in her wonderful shop and they were fed by "Valeria-home-made" cousine.

PicMonkey Collage4
The project of Mikiway was born to support the creativity and design.  The boutique is totally furnished with recycled materials created by young designers with a singular style. The clothes are both big brands and young stylists and designers' brands.

PicMonkey Collage5Glasses of prosecco, muffins and cupcakes "everything's so good but the red chocolate Yelp cupcakes were delicious and this was another fantastic EYE", as Flavio P said, here it's the moment to give the prize to the best review of November. Lomography was our sponsor and Stefania C won a fantastic Lomo camera.

PicMonkey Collage6Thanks to Mihaela, Angelo and their sons, the owner of a wonderful shop as Mikiway in Rione Monti.

Thanks to my Yelper and friend Cinzia C and to my "intern-slave" Alba P to help me out to prepare my "home-made" catering with love. And thanks, as always to my photographer/videographer Riccardo R for being such an awesome official photographer. As Riccardo M said: "Dear Roma, Keep Calm and Yelp On!".

If you want to write a review about the event, you can do it here.

For the pics, there's a set on Flickr.

Until next time,

See you on Yelp!

North County Elite's Get Ugly With Yelp's Holiday Sweater Party

Posted by Trish

12/12/12 was 12 days till Christmas Eve so NCSD Elite partied Santa style at Yelp's Elite Ugly Sweater Holiday Party! Over 120 Elite Yelpers and thier lucky plus 1's went all out in sweaters of ho ho ho-rrific proportions at the California Fruit Wine Company's wine making and tasting facility in Northern SD. FirstOur hosts for the evening, the California Fruit Wine Company, made sure all were armed with cups of cheer and everyone got their fruity fill on a tasting flight full of flavor. The owners and the staff filled our stems with apricot, plum, pumpkin spiced, and chocolate covered cherry wine! Followed with a very special "barrel tasting" of the upcoming cranberry wine. Just to be neighborly, Aztec Brewery from around the corner sent a couple kegs over for the evening, including the hibiscus wheat flavor, beloved of Yelper's since our first Elite Event in NCSD earlier this year! Drinks
Sugar plums were dancing in our heads, courtesy of The Cupcake Inn! They served up samples galore, including flavors like red velvet, pumpkin, chococo almond, and cookies & cream! In addition to our just desserts and in incredible savory skill, Chef Michael and his team from Temecula Catering wowed us with their culinary creations. Using an anti griddle they created "Lox", (a sour cream mixture with frozen lox with dill syrup in a pipet) sushi style cucumber rolls, a lemon lavender sorbet using CFW plum wine, crowd pleasing ribeye with truffle pea puree on a barley chip, and a creation dubbed "Blown Biscotti"! (Biscotti with wine infused pineapple dipped in chai tea glass) FoodThe Fotobox provided Yelpish Holiday memories in a custom photo booth, we had fake beards, elf ears, and even Santa's jacket to try on! Festive lights and tunes surrounded us all and set the mood, courtesy of Jay from Brannan Entertainment, one of the best local DJ's around! DJphoto
The NCSD 2012 Squad made neat Elite life even sweeter by giving back! Over 70 new and unwrapped toys were donated for the Marine Toys For Tots Foundation collection box! Thanks guys! Oh and the ugly holiday attire? Check out all the pictures on the event page, NCSD's Facebook page, and our album on the Yelp Flicker photostream.

Denver Yelp's December Secret Supper at Twelve Restaurant

On the twelfth month of Secret Supper Clubs in the twelfth month of the year 2012, Denver yelpers were treated to an incredibly delicious three course meal at Twelve Restaurant. What better place, right?! At the start of the meal Tanteo Tequila showed up with their slow-burning jalapeño-infused tequila muddled into a cocktail with St. Germain, basil, and green chartruese. As Vicki P sipped on her slightly sweet and spicy cocktail she tried to take her time, but it was so fantastic she "definitely could have sucked it down and ordered another (or two)!"

The star of the show, Chef Jeff Osaka, let the food speak for itself. And speak it did! The meal kicked off with a lovely combination of baby lettuces, shallots, fine herbs, parmesan, and banyuls vinaigrette that had the crowd quieting down to savor each bite. Next came the most perfectly cooked hangar steak Shaun S has possibly ever had, served alongside a yukon gold potato puree, crispy sweetbreads, and blue cheese slaw. Rounding out the meal was a Roasted Butternut Squash-Brioche Pain Perdue (that was no pain at all to Alissa R) served with cream cheese ice cream. And that's just the icing on the cake, so to speak. Make sure you check out the reviews and photos if you'd like to get the whole picture.

And with that the Secret Suppers of 2012 come to a close. It has been a great adventure eating at a new place with you all each and every month. Have a safe and happy new year!

Punschtrinken im Weihnachtsdorf Belvedere

Posted by Andreas R

Andreas R

The Yelpers have spoken and decided on the coldest day in December to go to the christmas market Belvedere in order to get a taste of the punsch sold in front of the castle in one of Vienna´s prettiest christmas markets.
At the entrance gate Yelpers were welcomed by Santa Clause/Community Manager Andreas R and were handed out presents from the Yelp-Christmas bag. Also everyone received coupons for free hot drinks of their choice inside the market.
Armed with those coupons we got a taste of the whole sortiment: Housepunsch, Glühwein or various sorts of berry punsch - everything was tried out and we had to hurry up finishing our drinks before they got cold due to the outside temperatures.
A big thank you goes to the Wiener Weihnachtsdörfer, who same as last year provided us with lots of drink coupons. We will be back for sure!
As always, there are lots of photos from the event and of course the reviews from the Yelpers.
So folks, that was the last Vienna Elite Event 2012, I´ll be seeing you in 2013 - with lots of great new events of course!

Yelp Met Son Plus Vilain Pull @ Lunettes de Marius

Posted by Camille L

Rodolphe V a apprécié, il faut croire : "Très bel endroit + magnifiques pulls (Ugliest sweat for Alexandra D !)

Yelp tu me connais si bien #coeur# "

Yelp's Winter Food Festival à La Cartonnerie !

Posted by Elodie

F1000002@Lomography & Retro Chic

Collage2Coney Island Dinner/Cantine California/Pi Hour

Collage8Fauchon/Sherry butt/Sugarplum Cakeshop
