Yelpers and guests enjoyed an afternoon of local treats and drinks at Old School Emporium on Sunday. "This was a great mix for a Yelp event. It raised a bathtub full of donations for the food bank and kicked off the Yelp Eats Week event with a warm hug," says Terrence L about Yelp Breaks The (Food)Bank, our kick off party for Yelp Eats For Hunger Relief, a week long fundraiser for the Calgary Inter-Faith Food Bank.
Enjoying a myriad of treats, including gluten and dairy free bread from Care Bakery, brownie bites from Double Elle Bakery, coconut chips, fresh tomatoes and dips available in store and baked goodies courtesy of Pascal's Patisserie, Yelpers mixed and mingled in this new Beltline addition. Angelo T comments, "Out of all the Elite parties, I've got to say that this was the party that really brought out the most food to enjoy. They weren't prepared in a fancy way but were just simple ingredients and represented certain bakers and producers. Seriously Pascal's Pastisserie had that *hip swerving dance* je ne sais quoi..."
What are delicious eats without something equally palatable to wash it all down with? Our friends at Wine Ink were on site pouring Cappello Di Prete and Tenuta Marini from Candido Wines. After tasting her way through the wines, Kate B has decided it's a place she "plans to check out" in the near future. Can we say bookmarked? When you're in, put David to the test on his wine knowledge. We sure did at the party!
And where there is wine, we must also wheat our whistles! Village Brewery popped into the party to share Village Blacksmith, Village Wit and Village Blonde with party goers! From bottles to growlers, Yelpers heart shopping and drinking local... supporting the newest Calgary brewery is no exception!
If you missed out on the party, Old School Emporium will be accepting food bank donations all week long as part of Yelp Eats For Hunger Relief! You can also grab your friends and head out for your own feel good meal by visiting any of the participating Yelp Eats restaurants (Charcut, Cravings Market, Downtown Food, The Himalayan, Inti, Raw Bar, Taste, and Wasabi) anytime between now and Saturday, November 10th.
