Philly Yelpers Get Mummified At Yelp's Night By The Nile!
On Halloween night, hordes of dressed-to-kill Philly Yelpers descended on the Penn Museum for Yelp's Night By The Nile. The Penn Museum was prepared for this Yelper Party; they offered guided tours through the Egyptian Mummy exhibition and a Mummy One-On-One featuring an ancient Peruvian mummy (1500 years old, to be exact!), skulls and other specimens. To further the entertainment, DJ QiCommand was on hand in Upper Egypt spinning tunes, while nine restaurants and eight beverage sponsors filled the rest of Upper Egypt and the Chinese Rotunda. And did we mention the photo booth, courtesy of Shutterbooth?
Local restaurants provided a feast fit for a pharaoh, including scallops served over truffled risotto, vegan wraps, pumpkin curry, cupcakes and more. Serving up these treats were: The Couch Tomato Café, City Tap House, Fuel, Soy Café, Fat Jack's BBQ, Circles Contemporary Asian Cuisine, Basic 4 Vegetarian Cafe, The Sweet Life Bakeshop and Cake and the Beanstalk. Take-home snacks were provided by Pretzel Crisps and KIND Healthy Snacks.
Yelpers washed it all down with sipping samples such as apple pie liquor, gin cocktails, pale ales and Belgian Tripels, among other selections. Cheers to our beverage sponsors: the Sazerac Company, S&H Independent Premium Brands, Spodee, Narragansett Beer Co., Oskar Blues Brewing Company, Bai, Weyerbacher and Philadelphia Distilling.
This night wasn't just about the spooks and snacks. Generous Yelpers donated cash at the door to benefit Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation. A whopping $2660 was collected!
As Elite Yelper Jennifer T succinctly sums up, "Free booze, amazing food, grown-ups dressed in costume, music and little freebies everywhere – all for a good cause – seriously, does it get any better?" We think not! Many thanks go to the amazing staff at the Penn Museum for welcoming us, our incredible food, beverage and photo booth sponsors, Yelp's own Tara L, Ruggy J and Drew A, Yelp Philly intern Brie P, and last but certainly not least, the Yelp Philadelphia Community!
