Yelp's Thirst Quencher In Salt Lake City

Salt Lake City is home to a bevvy of beverage options, so what better way to laud the liquids than a whole week of events designed to help Yelpers wet their whistle? Enter Yelp's Thirst Quencher.

On Monday, the event launched with a loud pop at CO2 Cafe. This brand new downtown destination has a whole assortment of handcrafted sodas. Yelpers filled the space to sample and sip their food and sodas, including the Hangsicle, an orange-dreamsicle soda named for Yelper Hang W who won the flavor idea contest. Yelpers grooved to the tunes from Life of The Party Entertainment and had a special treat from Samantha Calmes of Vinyl Tapestries.

Tuesday! That starts with T and stands for.. uh.. tea! The Tea Grotto hosted a cozy little group of Yelpers for a traditional Gaiwan tea tasting. Everyone nibbled, sipped, and shared their tealightful insights in this gorgeous and warm space while the rain spirinkled slowly outside.

On Wednesday it was all about the beer, and what SLC beverage event could go on without Squatters? The local beer brewer took Yelpers on a tour of their brewery. After enjoying some light appetizers, everyone gathered around the bar to sample the suds from light to dark. Hops were hopping, Yelpers were drinking, and everyone was reminded just how sensational Squatters really is.

Still thirsty on Thursday, Yelp's Thirst Quencher set up shop at Sammy's Cafe where pie shakes were the order of the day. It's exactly what it sounds like: the sweet, sweet marriage of pie and ice cream, blended into a shake. Yelpers who had RSVPd were treated to a free pie shake and could choose from a whole host of fruity, chocolatey, minty, or creamy flavors.

Saturday was the final satiation for the Salt Lake City Yelp crowd. It was back to beer and on to Uinta Brewing. Rubio's recently announced they were featuring beer from the local brewer to pair with the tasty tacos and fresh Mexican fare, so they fired up the fish tacos. Yelpers learned about the brewer and the restaurant and one lucky lass won a brewrery tour for herself and up to 15 pals.

At the end of the week, it was clear that Salt Lake is a terrific place to get a drink. From soda, to tea, to beer and pie shakes, this town has it all for the lovers of all things liquid. Don't take our word for it. You can see pics from the week's festivities here (or on the slideshow below) and read what yelpers had to say in their reviews here.

Bottoms up!
