Yelp Invades Plant City

Plant City is commonly known for two things: 1) The place to go for the Strawberry Festival in March and 2) A town you pass over while traveling between Tampa and Orlando. However, after Yelp Tampa Bay's Elite Event – Yelp's Berry Good at The Corner Store, eyes have been opened to the greatness that can be found in this quaint, little downtown. The aforementioned Corner Store and Parksdale Farm Market partnered up on this event to help improve P.C.'s "cool/hip/awesome" reputation, and they did just that.

"I have to hand it to Yelp, Parksdale, and the Corner Store for making our Yelp Elite event one of a kind. Never did I think a Yelp event could make me drive 30 minutes away especially on my favorite TV night of the week." Thursday night may be must-see TV, but you can't DVR a Yelp event, and Diana C concurs about her decision to venture down I-4. "However, with the promise of fresh food and a good time I made the drive to the historic district of Plant City... and the event was right up my alley."

Ariana L echoes the statements from her fellow Elite member, "I had a great time at this event! It was a smaller, more intimate setting, which I really enjoyed.  The Corner Store is on a main street, in a downtown kind of area in Plant City (I don't venture this way often)... but it's so cute! We pulled up and were in love with the place!" It's hard to walk into The Corner Store and avoid using the word "cute" to describe it's vibe... even for the manliest of men. In addition to the restaurant itself, A-plus goes on to gab about the "live music from an awesome entertainer with a beautiful voice! The atmosphere was cozy and homey – so inviting!"

No Elite event is complete without tasty treats, as Meghann A is accustomed to! "And for the menu of the evening? Wow. Now this is the type of food I'm all about. Everything was so fresh, light, and delicious. The meal was full of vibrant colors, healthy proteins, and was so well-balanced, which gets major bonus points coming from this health-nut. Nothing was heavy and I felt I could have kept eating all night." Meghann also added that she will be running a half-ironman within a few days after the event, so when it comes to eating healthy, her judgement is to be trusted! If she wins the race, we all know she can credit the delectables from this evening for fueling her home.

Parksdale Farm Market is incredibly famous for its delicious strawberries, which means countless treats in which this red berry is the primary flavor/ingredient. Cari E discovered this to be true, with the grand finale of the evening. "At the end they brought out the milkshakes, I had the strawberry and my friend had the pumpkin pie. Both of us were blown away. I don't think I'd ever had a real, fresh strawberry milkshake. I would like to have one of those every day for the rest of my life. It was outstanding. My friend loved the pumpkin pie shake as well. Really great stuff." You know what they say, a strawberry milkshake a day makes general unhappiness in life go away."

Yelp Elite events range from big-to-small, from loud-to-relaxing, and from acres-to-intimate. The one constant, is that they are just full of plain awesomeness. The generosity from our hosts at Yelp's Berry Good cannot be spoken about enough. You've won us over, and redefined an entire city in the eyes of Yelp Tampa Bay. Good on you, Corner Store and Parksdale... we'll see you on Yelp!
