This past week about 50 yelpers sported their favorite concert t-shirts, grabbed some great tunes and headed off the beaten path to local record label, shop and performance art space, Cellar Door Records.
Guests wandered through the 100 year old Loftworks building into a renovated arts space to find the warm smells of pumpkin gnocchi and guava empanadas. Chef Elvis, of JiBARO Gourmet Food Truck, was cooking it up, live, in front of our eyes (and tastebuds.) Meanwhile, Jack Frost brought dozens of fried, sweet goodies in the form of banana, bacon and peanut butter donuts. But for those who like traditional flavors, there were chocolate frosted with "Bob Marley sprinkles."
You can't visit a local record label and shop without listening to some tunes! Recording artists, Xela and These Knees, of Cellar Door's put on fabulous, acoustic shows while guests sipped on "concert beers" in Yelp coozies. Guests who brought music to swap could take it over to the "listening station," equipped with a record, CD and cassette player with headphones. You know, because it's good to test drive your tunes, too!
If all the music wasn't artsy enough, guests also got to "tag" our Yelp graffiti wall without the fear of getting a nasty citation. And for those who never lived out their dreams of becoming famous rock stars, Ackey+Z Photography snapped snazzy pics on a real drum set—rock on, Wayne! To check out those fierce shots, check out our Flickr Page!
Folks who wore their best concert t-shirts were entered into an applause competition to vote on the very best male and female tees! Our two winners brought home gift baskets brimming with music-themed prizes, guitar picks, DVDs and tickets to local event, Cosmic Cocktail.
Don't miss the event reviews here, or write your own if you were there—don't be shy!
Huge thanks to our hosts, Justin & Allie of Cellar Door Records and the fantastic musicians, Xela and These Knees. How about JiBARO Gourmet Food Truck? Lorna and Chef Elvis really made our night sizzle. Also, those amazing donuts from Jack Frost—ohmygod. Finally, thanks to all you fabulous Elites and guests for hanging out!
