Everyday Heroes In Phoenix Come Together At Yelp Helps
Yelp’s everyday heroes who were eager to learn about volunteer opportunities, gathered at the ASU Art Museum on October 23rd for an evening of philanthropy, food and fun! Currently in its third consecutive year, Yelp Helps is a party centered around philanthropy and lets Valley non-profits educate the local community on their mission and ways yelpers can give back through volunteerism. This year, we connected yelpers with over 26 non-profits, making this one super night!
Throughout the night, yelpers mixed and mingled with 26 non-profits against the backdrop of the ASU Art Museum in Tempe, AZ. Yelpers were greeted by lively music from a local band and recipient of Ear Candy charities and received a bingo card and Yelp tote after they checked in. Once inside, several non-profits greeted yelpers in the museum’s courtyard and the night only continued from there!
During the evening, Simon Crown crooned the crowd while yelpers chatted with the American Cancer Society, Arizona Consortium for the Arts, Arizona Humane Society, ASU Lodestar Center, ASU Art Museum, Arizona Coalition to End Homelessness, Beer for Brains Big Brothers, Big Sisters of Central Arizona, Children's Museum of Phoenix, City of Hope, Ear Candy Charity, Future For Kids, Gen United, Keep Phoenix Beautiful, Local First, Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, March of Dimes, Panacea Animal Wellness Sanctuary, Phoenix Art Museum, Pueblo Grande Museum and Archeological Park, Relay For Life, Salvation Army, The Children's Heart Foundation, Tovrea Carraro Society and Welcome to America. In between conversations with the NPOs, they stopped by the Social Chimp Photobooth and got their super hero face painted by Candy Face Paint!
Yelp events aren't complete without food and drinks and luckily Yelp Helps had plenty of both! Hungry from all the chatting, yelpers enjoyed music from DJ HartBreaks while they munched on fish tacos from Rubios, pizza from NYPD, fruity ice from Rita's, PopChips, KIND bars, pasta from Wildflower and burgers from Lucky Break! All the food and conversation with non-profits made yelpers thirsty, so they quenched their thirst with pumpkin margaritas from Cruz, Chambord lemonades, beer from Old World Brewery and lemonade from Wildflower.
Yelpers left with new non-profit friends and a new awareness for all the good NPOs are doing in the Valley. Those who completed the bingo card with signatures from at least 10 non-profits, entered a raffle for prizes including gift cards from Gelato Spot, tickets to Cupcake Love-In and gift cards to the ASU Art Museum store. Non-profits left with lists full of new volunteers and everyone left with a heart full from an evening with a great cause. Take a look at the pictures and reviews from the evening!
A special thank you goes out to ASU Art Museum for hosting Yelp Helps, Classic Party Rentals, Simon Crown, Ear Candy Charity’s musicians, DJ Hart Break Jacqueline Hanna Photography and all the participating food, drink and entertainment sponsors! Take a look at the reviews and pictures!
Until next time!
