Yelp Elites Discover The Best of Underground London at The Old Vic Tunnels

Title

The London underground scene is fantastic, unique, weird, and wonderful… We just never said it’d be easy to find.

“Now I'm not going to lie, finding the Old Vic tunnels was a bit scary at first, but then I saw elite members race towards the swaying red Yelp balloons and found relief,” Coredelle P told us. “The tunnels are truly a beautiful labyrinth of arches and tunnels that were transformed to an atmospheric underground festival for the night.”

Start

London yelpers poured into The Old Vic Tunnels, a collection of former London tube tunnels turned into a giant event space, to experience Yelp’s Best of Underground London. There were a collection of stalls and stands, so strange and spectacular, that people didn’t know what they would see around every corner.

Food

The booths were the best of underground London, a collection of spots many hadn't even heard of before the night began, much less tried. There were delicious Indian street food of Horn OK Please and the sweets of Yummy Boutique. gin cocktails from Uber, bubble tea from Bubbleology, ginger soda from Tani-Mola and real coconut water out of coconuts from CocoLyte!

Let’s not forget henna tattoos (and more Indian food) from The Avo Hotel and the amazing jars of Quack’s Pickles, who promised Josy A that “his pickles would completely cure her of the collywobbles!” And to top the night off, Drunken Monkey presented the musical styling of Monophunk who DJed the night.

Drinks

Not everyone was a fan of the delicious eats and drinks though...

“Dammit, Yelp, don't you know I'm on a diet? Sans alcohol and any sort of tasty food! I've navigated numerous birthday parties, a christening, even a wedding. A bloody wedding! My willpower was exemplary until you presented me with this hotbed of sinful indulgence. Bubble tea, be-Oreoed cupcakes, Indian street food, fresh coconuts. I need to reassess our relationship. I thought I was the dominant one; now you've gone all Christian Grey on me,” Robyn J bemonaned. Sorry Robyn, (no we’re not.)

And of course, the venue itself, with it’s dark, twisting tunnel corridors, created the perfect backdrop our underground party.

“The venue is easily one of the most amazing places I've been to in London thus far. I need to find excuses to go back there,” Nava N announced. “Walking in, I was immediately blown away by the atmosphere. Definitely felt like I was nowhere near cool enough to be in there in my schlubby straight-from-work clothes.” We disagree, we think you fit in perfectly.

Atmopshere

Andrew M stated it best: The term "Elite Event" doesn't quite do this justice. Instead, "Epic Elite Party" would be an more apt term, I think. Because, let's be honest, that's just what Alex S threw us as his first official Elite event in London took shape.”

Why, thank you.

But don’t just take our word for it. You can read all the reviews right here as well as check out all the pics on the Official Yelp Flickr Page.

Until next time.
