Yelp OC's Back To Blues Bash
HOB served an array of finger foods for hungry guests such as chili braised short ribs with corn pudding, tomato basil flatbread with slow roasted tomatoes, crispy buffalo chicken satays with blue cheese aioli, petite smoked pork sliders, and chipotle spiced shrimp with Cotija cheese! The food came out fast and furious and hungry stomachs couldn't be happier. Lyon H favored the "boneless buffalo wings" that were being dished out. He's a sucker for chicken, "especially if it's covered in spicy sauce."
Of course, the celebration couldn't have happened without some libations! The hosts sampled two of their signature drinks, the Blues Mobile and Green Gator. Rohlin A's table was "unanimous" that the Blues Mobile was their favorite drink consisting of "blue punch with 4 different types of alcohol." Think Long Island Iced Tea… but blue.
DJ Velvet Touch added some music to the mix by spinning old and contemporary Blues ballads throughout the evening while Yelpers got their photo booth fun on from Viral Booth. Albert E has seen many "photo booths in his time, but never one with direct access to email, Twitter and Facebook - FUN STUFF!!"
To add some sweetness to the palate, Blackmarket Bakery brought a plethora of treats such as vanilla marshmallows, Black Widow tarts, Blueberry Thrill tart, cranberry shorties, mocha walnut shorties and Florentine bars. Rodney S' top picks were the "Black Widow tarts & the marshmallow bites," and claims that he "wasn't even a big marshmallow fan prior to last night."
Our non-profit beneficiary of the night, GRIP (Gang Reduction & Intervention Partnership), was on site collecting new and unused school supplies for underprivileged kids for the upcoming school year. Yelpers went above and beyond with their contributions, and the organization has promised to send some photos to share of the items being distributed to the youngsters! Vanessa N was happy to do it as she proclaimed that it was "an honor to have been able to help out GRIP. Great cause for a community in desperate need of support."
Thanks for coming out! Can't wait to do it again soon!
