Over a thousand DC yelpers came out to the new Flats At Atlas to get their party on with tons of great local businesses and raise money for THEARC, DC's state-of-the-art campus and community theater, home to eleven of the District's best nonprofit agencies. From a unicorn to a moonbounce castle, food trucks to breweries, hair cuts to eyebrow threading, Yelp's Fantasy Land lived up to its name.
Taste buds were tickled by Del Frisco's Grille's gazpacho (and their VIP cocktails), mini bundt cakes by Goodies Frozen Custard & Treats, mozzarella made on-site and dressed up by H &pizza, fresh guacamoles and salsas by Lime Fresh Mexican Grill, appetizing appetizers by Pretzel Crisps, icy cold deliciousness by Rita's Water Ice, and lobster and truffle lasagna by Basil Thyme. Thirsty yelpers also sipped on hand-selected wines from Schneider's Of Capitol Hill, took the world's original gin for a test drive with Diep 9 Genever, hit up cocktails by 1920dc, tossed back local brews by Lost Rhino Brewing Company, got in the fall spirit with Crispin Cider, and got a taste of the islands with Appleton Rum. Vitamin Water kept guests hydrated so there was no need to wake up with a hangover.
Guests scored fresh styles courtesy of The Suite Barber Shop, shaped unruly eyebrows with Threads, melted into puddles of relaxation at the hands of The Spa Room, and captured the results with Onomonomedia's uber modern photo booth.
Chrysis Entertainment lit up the party inside and out, and got the crowd pumped with a DJ and live sax duo that had the bass thumping all the way down the street. Meanwhile, Silent Storm's awesome audio system let guests don headphones and rock out in apparent silence with DJ Jaime Mizell of E2 Events.
The Squeals on Wheels petting zoo had guests snuggling with everything from an alpaca to a mini pig to a real, live unicorn (kind of), and Astro Jump made visits to their magic castle a bouncy good time. Josh Norris wowed and befuddled with mind-blowing magic and impossible illusions, Eve Hennessa painted portraits live, and Victoria Vixen kept the party poppin' with trippy balloons of all shapes and sizes, courtesy of Katie Balloons.
'Til next time!
