Detroit Elite Chef's Tasting Dinner At Iridescence!

On August 29th, 20 Detroit Elites were invited to an exclusive 7-course tasting dinner at the AAA Four Diamond Award-winning restaurant Iridescence, a gorgeous spot atop the MotorCity Casino Hotel featuring exquisite eats and beautiful views of the city.

As each course was served the amazing kitchen staff, including Chef de Cuisine Benjamin Meyer, came out and discussed each plate, broke down the elements, and articulated what they hoped to achieve with each dish. It was as educational as it was delicious. Most items sampled were not yet on the menu so it was truly an exclusive sneak peak! Courses included: crème fraiche cream with vanilla bean strawberries, yellow fin tuna carpaccio, croque madame and spindini sandwiches, potato and mushroom ravioli with a bay scallop and lobster crème, transparent Bloody Mary shots, and filet mignon with cheeseburger inspired toppings. In addition to the dinner our elites were treated to their choice of red or white wine, expertly chosen from Iridescence’s Wine Spectator Award-winning wine list.Food

For the final course we were treated to a table full of every dessert on the menu! These dishes were prepared expertly by Patricia Nash, the American Culinary Federation Pastry Chef of the Year 2007, who also took a moment to speak to our group. On the line up? Nuri G’s favorite the Peanut Butter Bar (with caramelized bananas and salted peanuts). “Some may have had more than others... but definitely not me... no way.” Suuuuuure!DessertsAs if that weren’t amazing and generous enough--the staff at the MotorCity Casino Hotel raffled off three $150 gift certificates for a return visit to Iridescence. I’m pretty sure our lucky winners were booking their next reservations on the way out!Two
