San Diego Paints The Town Red: Yelp's Seeing Red!
San Diego geared up in their finest red threads at the beautiful six month old Gaijin Noodle + Sake House for Yelp's Seeing Red. Packed in and feeling the heat of the warm summer night, The Elites were treated to fanastic food and enough ice cold drinks to party the night away!
Once guests were checked in and name tagged up they were given the opprotunity to work the room and meet their fellow Elite Squad members with a "find your match" card game. Once located the cards/raffle tickets earned them a great giveaway of either a hat, a Yelp digital watch or one of the coveted old school Yelp lunchboxes. The mingling had begun and the drinks and food were ready to be served... nom, nom, nom!
The great people at both Kirin and Sapporo were extremely generous and kept the room well stocked with ice cold bottles and drafts of some of their newest products on the market. Nella and her uber attentive staff were constantly on the move ensuring that Elite members were never without a drink, (either a cold brew or one of their signature shaved ice sake sno-cones) while Fern led the kitchen in preparing a wide variety of never ending tray passed appetizers. Gaijin definitely impressed the crowd with bite size versions of their menu items such as the jidori karaage, fresh local yellowtail poke, carnitas bao bao, bacon wrapped quail eggs, spicy miso ramen, and a variety of yakitori skewers. They bend over backwards for Yelp Elites at Gaijin and even steered off the menu with some custom creations for attendees who could not eat certain food items. Has customer service reached a whole new level? We think so!
The night's festivities continued and sake shots were served every half hour and consumed on command with a cerimonial ringing of the gong and kampai chant! As the night came to an end the winning raffle ticket was drawn and one lucky winner walked out with a pair of tickets to the 2012 San Diego Music Awards while the rest of the crowd applauded and ejoyed their desert of mochi and black sesame katigori shaved ice.
A big thank you goes out to all of the Elites in attendance from all of our sponsors and of course San Diego Yelp! Great job heating up the room and cooling it off in style... you can find all the incriminating photos on the Yelp Flickr page. Kampai!
