Yelp Community Blog: Yelp Halifax's Tall Ship Time Machine!

There ain't no party like an east coast party and you don't get much more east coast than a sunset booze cruise aboard the Tall Ship Silva! With nothing but sun in the skies, over 100 Yelpers and their guests donned their neon-nautical finest and hit the high seas for Yelp's Tall Ship Time Machine – the hottest retro dance party to hit the Halifax harbour!

So what does a Tall Ship Time Machine party even look like?

Well, it starts with awkward stares as Yelpers like Meegan D made their way to the waterfront: "I will admit I was mildly unsettled to be wandering about downtown before boarding the gorgeous Tall Ship Silva in my side-pony and bright orange get up getting some eyebrows from the Hali-folk, but it was WAY worth the effort and the fun to get-on-down with some neon-Yelpers for a night."

Once on board, the Silva crew was quick to set sail into the Bedford basin, offering up a refreshing ocean breeze, spectacular views, and an unforgettable sunset! Of course, this was only after Yelpers scrambled to score a fix of Covered Bridge Kettle Chips, direct from our friends in New Brunswick. Novelty flavoured Lobster chips were an especially hot commodity!

Then, like proper sailors, our crew made straight for the bar to find a healthy supply of Coors Light Iced Teas and Terra Beata Vodka Crans! That's right, our mix came direct from the Lunenburg cranberry farm, leaving Meghan W wondering, "does Terra Beta cranberry juice count as a serving of fruit if you mixed it with vodka?"

It didn't take long for Kirk F to spot our usual strategy: "Offer free drinks to the Yelp Elite and their guests and you will soon see dancing," especially once you add DJ Ryan McNutt's music mastery into the mix! What do you call a DJ that bounces from 2Pac to the Raccoons theme song? THE BEST ONE.

As the sun set, "the vodka cranberry fuelled junior high dance began," according to Megan B. "Picture 100 adults singing and dancing to the Spice Girls, NKOTB and more. As if we had never aged at all- old forgotten dance moves made their way on to the scene. Everyone remembered how to zig-a-zig ah." As if we could ever forget...
