Portland Elites Felt The Summer Heat at Salty's On The Columbia!
Was it July 1, 1984 or July 1, 2012? We couldn't tell as 100 Portland Elites got decked out in their 80's/South Beach finest for Yelp's Miami Vice Elite Event @ Salty's On The Columbia! Move over Crockett & Tubbs, you ain't got nothing on these PDXYelpers!
"Sipping on cocktails, eating delicious seafood and soaking in the sun right next to the gorgeous views of the Columbia River was just what the doctor ordered" to cure Feuy S' acute case of June gloom. No doubt a little Vitamin B helped, in the form of delicious cocktails like Moscow Mules and Sea Breezes made with Bengerminz Vodka. Or it could have been Andrew G's choice: the "Widmer Brothers Brewing beers that they did a body good." Selections included Marionberry Hibiscus Gose, Hefeweizen, Drifter Pale Ale and the Rotator Series Shaddock IPA. Maybe a spot of the bubbly? Whatever your poison, the hard-working Salty's bartenders poured up a mess of liquid sunshine in a glass.
Were the drinks really the star of this series? As Tamara K tells it, "The set up with different food stations around the restaurant made for short lines and full bellies." Multiple heavy buffets offered an indulgent array of foods the only way Salty's knows how - at full volume. The tables offered a lavish assortment including shrimp skewers; a crawfish and seafood boil; lobster fondue; risotto balls; gourmet cheeses and fruits; halibut ceviche; Salty's famous chowder; smoked salmon lox and many more savory options. The awe-inspiring dessert bar offered house-made cakes, cookies, truffles, rhubarb crisp, torts, tarts, berries and everything in-between. Jessica K sums it up well: "Salty's put out enough food to feed Yelp Elites everywhere, not just in Portland. Seriously, you all should have been there."
We wish you could have been there as we enjoyed Salty's entire upstairs bar and patio overlooking the mighty Columbia River. Yelpers like LaQueanya H posted up on the patio to enjoy a "gorgeous, clear view of the Columbia and the feel of a nice river breeze." After a weekend of cloudy Portland "summer", the gray sky parted just as the event started. it was like Salty's ordered up an epic view just for us. To get just an idea, check out the photos from Tom Maxwell Photography!
Matthew A has it right when he swears that this was "Best Elite event yet! This one was extra great." And it's all due to Linda and the incredible crew at Salty's, who damn sure know how to throw a party; Olivier and Rachelle at Distilling Head for the Bengerminz Vodka; Kevin from Widmer for the tasty brews; Tom Maxwell - photographer extraordinaire; Manliest of Manterns Kevin K; and of course the Portland Yelp Elite Squad... without whom none of this would be possible.
Until next time, keep rockin' that pastel. And I'll SYOY!
