Life's a Beach for Hartford Elites!

At the height of Connecticut's most beloved season, there's nothing more crave worthy than a cold beer and a beachy oasis. Luckily, it's all tucked away at Eli Cannon's in Middletown. On Wednesday night, 65 Hartford Elites and their guests took advantage of the balmy weather with the flawless combination of brews, sand and sun. Yelpers broke out with bubbles, sunglasses, and flip flops as they flocked to the patio (yes, sand included) to savor small plates with beer pairings and the best dang cupcakes around. Thank you to our event hosts, Eli Cannon's and NoRa Cupcake for one fantastic evening!

Surpassing all pub grub preconceptions, guests enjoyed platters of chipotle and roasted garlic hummus, summery lemon-basil cous cous, buffalo chicken pastries, and Jason S's favorite, "spinach, craisin & smoked Gouda puff pastries" with an amazing "smoky flavor," tangy sherry-soaked craisins and "great character;" Dan R couldn't get enough of "the Caribbean Steak Skewers, tender, flavorful" and coated with "grated coconut. They were outstanding!" Alicia S loved that Eli's "paired the beer with the food items. Much more rhyme and reason to it all!" Guests enjoyed a selection of Blue Point Fresh Hop Ale, Eli's 18th Anniversary Ale, Sierra Nevada Pale Ale, Widmer Brothers Shaddock IPA, BBC Coffeehouse Porter, and Saranac Lemon Ginger Saison.

How do you top such a spread? With cupcakes of course! The grand finale from NoRa Cupcake was "the real star of the show" that made Lesley Q's "trip down to Middletown worth it." An immense tower of NoRa's signature Irish Car Bombs, Chocolate Chip Cheesecake Cupcakes and S'more delights "had no sooner been assembled when it was attacked by Yelpers in a scene that reminded" Dan R "of the Walking Dead - "Must have cupcakes…must have cupcakes…" Sandra C gives her love to the "outstanding" staff for keeping "the food coming, the beers coming, and the lady who stacked the glasses past her head as she cleared tables: amazing."  

  All in all, "delicious beers, good company, a chance to make new friends, and some very good food," recounts Josh L. We concur.
