July Elite Event: Bubblicity
Dublin's Yelpers got to experience Ireland's first ever bubble tea shop - Bubblicity! Karl and his team explained to the group how the concept was born in Taiwan, as he put it:
'Everything in this store is from Taiwan from the bamboo in the floor to the tea. The only thing here not from Taiwan is us!'
The Bubblicity team gave each Yelper a tasting sheet to make notes of the bubble teas that they liked and there was a lot to try as we learned! For the two hours of the event we got tray after tray of tasty combinations. Bubble tea is actually a healthy drink alternative with very small amounts of sugar and its all natural. Caoimhe from Detox Retox catered the event with some of her coconut and orange cakes that are free from gluten, grains, wheat, dairy, sugar, yeast, soya and peanuts.
We had a wide range of milk bubble tea flavours, from coconut to chocolate to honeydew to the tradional taro flavour which a lot of folks described tasted like the milk after a bowl of Lucky Charms! Alongside that we got some fruit bubble teas such as mango, sour apple and mint!
Karl explained that you can get the tea chilled, slushly type cold and hot. They amount of combinations you can try is endless too as well as adding in extras like pobbles, jams, jellies, red bean & oats, matcha smoothie and chocolate & raspberry cookie. You just have to try it for yourself to experience the unusual and wonderful sensation of the fruity pobbles bursting in your mouth or the chewy tapioca balls at the base of your drink.
To finish the evening the Princes Of Lagos comedy improv group entertained us with their usual risque routines as we filled our bellies to bursting point with bubble tea! Thanks so much to Karl Mulvee, Ronan Murphy and Ivano Cafolla (founders of Bubblicity) for being so generous with all the teas at the end of the event they gave us a free tea to take home! Till next time - see you on Yelp!
