Yelp Charlotte Elites Get Artsy At 5Church

This Wednesday documented an artful and flavorful evening soiree at 5Church in Uptown Charlotte. A restaurant/lounge, bolstering a crew of chefs, restaurateurs and venue aficionados alike, is one of the most swanky and tasty new gems festooning the Charlotte dining scene. The ceiling is painted by a local artist with Sun Tzu's  The Art of War and made many stare with amazement. This corner of 5th and Church was flooded by eager Yelpers who we were destined for an evening of Chef Jamie Lynch's culinary craft and ambient décor of the upstairs lounge.

The kitchen and staff supplied a tableful, and yet a whisper, of the gastronomic bounty that 5Church churns out on a nightly basis. Beth F sampled all “delectables” and learned the menu as the servers “described in detail” as she stacked her plate. Will H devoured lamb sliders and pork belly shooters that seemed to “disappear with shocking regularity.” Also, mini crab cakes with poached quail eggs, quinoa tobbouleh, black bean hummus and shrimp pizza filled the lounge and plates of Elites and their guests.

Food

John H “quenched his thirst buds” as Four Friends Brewing brought the brewskies and welcomed the first day of summer with a limited release! 24kt was a smashing, dancy, Belgian ale that tickled the palate. Queen City Red was another choice brew and filled and refilled glasses in the sizzling lounge. Huge props to Emily from Four Friends for talking up the hoppyness and emptying growler after growler of locally crafted beer!

Beer

Fetzer supplied the vino and Matt Leblanc, a familiar face in Yelpland, educated, poured and entertained each glass throughout the night. Travis W noted the “wine was flowing” with Fetzer Pinot Grigio, Jekel Chardonnay and Bonterra Pinot Noir. Many a Yelper sampled all vintages and burned through bottle after bottle as the evening burned on (literally).

Fetzer

Yelpers sleuthed their way through the crowds on a scavenger hunt to find the owner of a "Fill in the Blank" phrase game and painted 3 different canvases with their own artful touch and brush stroke. Yelpers truly broke out their creative side and went to town with paint markers in hand!

Art

Photo documentation was artfully executed, yet again, by the lovely Tonya Price from Poprock Photography. This blue-haired wonder is a breath of fresh air, a ray of sunshine and party diva rolled into one! She whizzed around the lounge with camera and wine in hand with graceful ease. Check out the whole shebang here!

What a way to start the summer in Crown Town! Many more fantastic events to come, no doubt! But don't take my word for it, read on here!

Until next time….
