Other awards ceremonies have nothing on the Yelpy Awards, a community-nominated and peer-voted awards ceremony honoring the who's who of Yelp Philadelphia's Elite Squad. On Monday, the 2nd Annual Yelpy Awards went down at Del Frisco's Double Eagle Steak House in the Vault Room, a locale sexier than Fifty Shades' Red Room of Pain. One hundred decked-out Elites descended a flight of stairs to the Vault and were welcomed by Yelp-tern Brie P and the bar. Wine and beer were a hit, but the most popular drink of the evening was the aptly-named VIP, a pineapple and vodka concoction. Party people nibbled on passed hors d'oeuvres including cheesesteak dumplings, mini crab cakes, tuna wontons, fresh mozzarella and cherry tomato skewers and bruschetta. The buzz was intense leading up to the awards ceremony, but it wasn't long before the winners were revealed (from left to right): Most Useful, Funniest, Coolest, Best Compliments (not pictured), Most Rockin' UYEs, Biggest Foodie, Life of the Party, Master Wordsmith, Rookie of the Year, Lifetime Achievement. Acceptance speeches were a highlight, and no one pulled a Kanye. And since little gold men are so last year, winners walked away with a Yelp "Summer Survival Kit" which included sunscreen, travel toothbrushes, Sudoku books, popsicle trays and more. Thanks to everyone at Del Frisco's and Neff Associates for helping to coordinate this memorable evening! And don't forget to catch up on the goss, peep the pics and read the reviews!
Until next time, SYOY!
