Queens Goes Black and White at Off The Blvd
Last evening, Yelpers braved the elements and stormed into Sunnyside, Queens to celebrate one of its newest venues, Off The Blvd Lounge. This was no regular Yelp Elite (Only) event, this was a Black and White Party. Elites came dressed in their finest B&W attire, while checking out this impressive indoor / outdoor space just off Queens Blvd.
Yelpers like David K remarked upon entering the place, "The venue had a cool vibe as it stretched to the back which opened up a patio with a fountain at the very end." Inside the lounge, folks were vibin' to the sounds of DJ Robert Lux while the black lighting enabled the monochrome celeb artwork to pop and just like that, the Elites began to glow. Undeterred by the stormy weather, many others decided to enjoy the outdoor patio space where there were plenty of umbrellas to shield the B&W partygoers from the wet drops of mother nature.
A Yelp party isn't complete without a little libation, this time in the form of summery cocktails, one concoction of which included Spicebox Whisky. The infamous Key Lime Pie (Vanilla Vodka, Sour Mix, Lime Juice) got Chelsea D's attention: "Not sure how many I had, but that was kind of the point right?" In addition to being one of the world's sexist women, Salma Hayek made an appearance on Thursday in the form of a Pacifico and Lemonade concoction and was a smash hit with the crowd. Astrid G has another name for it though: "liquid AWESOME."
A huge thanks goes out to Rae, Trish, and the group behind Off The Blvd Lounge for their incredible hospitality and hosting a heck of a party. Their unique theme is certainly a fabulous addition to the constantly changing Sunnyside's scene. B&W is never out of style, in fact Leslie D claims "Black and white has never looked so sexy."
