Yelp "Helps" Ohio! - Second Stop: Cleveland
What happens when you pack an inspiring Cleveland venue with over two dozen incredible, local non-profits, gaggles of goodwill and over 250 yelpers? A party with a purpose!
Cleveland's very first Yelp Helps was graciously hosted by local business incubator, Shaker LaunchHouseand brought together outstanding organizations, volunteerism, live entertainment, food and drink—in other words, it was a smashing success!
Guests wandered through the front and back areas of the building to learn all about what these non-profits do for our community and how they can help. From environmental interest and animal rescue groups, to children and family needs, this event had something for everyone. Groups had interactive activities for yelpers to get hands-on with, including microscopes to nerd out on, crafties and furry friends to snuggle! Not to mention almost every item of furniture at LaunchHouse was dry erase marker-friendly for ultimate doodling.
With all the networking, connecting and warm-fuzzies packing the evening, guests were bound to work up an appetite. And really, what's a Yelp party without some local bites and tasty beverages? Yelpers stuffed themselves silly with a spicy sampling from Palookaville Chili, healthfully delicious noms via Good To Go, comforting bites from North Park Grille and marvelous mac 'n cheese(s) thanks to Lion On Lorain! Good Greens passed out their bars while chatted about life at the LaunchHouse, and Canterbury Cakes wowed the crowed with their espresso chocolate cupcakes, homemade marshmallows and more! Phoenix Coffee made sure everyone had the pep they needed to party with their delicious brews, while Red Bull provided a little extra zing in our cocktails. Speaking of drinks, Brown-Forman made sure there was no thirsty yelper left behind at two bars stocked with four different flavors of Little Black Dress Vodka, Gentleman Jack, El Jimador tequila and more!
No do-good-er party would be complete without some feel-good tunes! Attendees were able to head to the back area of the party to enjoy three acts on our live stage. Thanks to HoneyBucket and their folksy vibe, DJ Mike Filly spinning the 1's and 2's and the impromptu performance by "hip-hope" violinist, Humble G, brought everyone to their feet.
Yelpers got snap-happy with ShutterBooth photo booth, posed for One Red Door Photography and some folks even gave interviews for the amazing Yelp Helps video (coming soon). Check out all the party shots here and don't forget to check out the Yelp Helps party reviews here! If you were there, please let us know what you thought of the event by writing your own review.
Although the party is over, we encourage the attendees to keep the goodwill going by reaching out to some of the non-profits for volunteer opportunities. Also, keep an eye out for monthly VYE's (Volunteer Yelp Events) listed on the event page. We'll be planning group volunteer opportunities with a fun, yelpy twist!
Until next time, long live do-gooders and SYOY!
