New Orleans Elites Revel In Pre-Jazz Fest Indulgences!
With one of NOLA's most epic events happening right about now, what better time to celebrate being a New Orleanian? Last Tuesday evening, our Elites and their guests gathered at Borgne, a new seafood restaurant brought to us by two of NOLA's most respected chefs, Brian Landry and John Besh. According to their website, Borgne is "a celebration of coastal Louisiana with a touch of Isleño influence." Sounds like the perfect place to unwind with cocktails and some superb locally-sourced food right before April's biggest celebration of 'em all!
There were were the tastiest local brews (Abita Restoration Ale), along with Cruzan Rum cocktails (hot weather means sweet tea means Ice Picks aka boozy Arnold Palmers, not to mention fresh strawberry mojitos and Dark and Stormys) as well as red and white wine to get the er, juices flowing. And the food. Oh, oh, oh-de to the food. We were privvy to an array of amazing "catches of the day" from Borgne's new bar menu and yelpers couldn't stop talking about these incredible culinary treasures. Let Jonathan D describe it: "The giant gulf oysters on the half-shell were delicious, the crawfish croquettes were tantalizing, and the charcuterie board was irresistible. I also tried an amuse bouche of seared tuna and pickled vegetables that was all kinds of amazing."
Now there's a mouthful! And there's more to add to it: shrimp- stuffed artichokes, pork empanadas, creamy Canary Islands goat cheese with mole verde & mole rioja on crostini and duck poppers. Borgne brought it on and our crowd was up to the delicious challenge!
But, that's not all, according to John L H. "The people are what always makes an event. This event was no exception, and there was a stellar cast of elite yelpers on hand... I highly recommend working the room at these events. If you do, you will meet the coolest people in the city." We say ahoy to that!
